Our group still scratches the SW itch with wegd6 version or occasionally a modified skill list version of RQ6/BRP.
In before: Not an mmorpg, blah blah, what happens to this site, blah blah.
Thanks for this!
So I'm not the only one tired of people beating that dead horse.

In Death - Sacrifice.

The best game system I have played to date is Star Wars: Saga Edition. Used d20s but everything was streamlined, yet still complex.
Problem is, no one plays this stuff where I live... Only Magic: The Gathering, and a couple of DnD games.
I do like Imperial Assault though. That with expansions seems to scratch an itch as well.
Not sure about this book yet (why no score on it?), but edge of the empire is fun, recommend it. :)

Broaden the site isn't bad, it is just that they need to get better with setting labels on the game so we can see what type of games they are (and skip what we aren't interested in).
Thanks, I guess I need to pick it up when I have time for some SW RPGing again (running a Shadowrun campaign right now).
I have mixed feelings about that game, I like the looks and feel of it but the balance is really bad. We did the entire campaign, had hell and lost 4 of the 5 first scenarios and then we barely won the next few. After that we just steamrolled everything.
X-wing is fun, but I did play some custom game a few years back where they had replaced Blue max WW1 planes with SW and called it Star max and it was even better. Not sure where the guys got the rules or if they made it themselves though.

@Loke666 I really LOVE me some Shadowrun.... seriously, check my blog on this site out LOL!
Sadly my friends have long since grown up and left me behind. I still like to read this stuff, but never have a chance to play anything but computer games any more...
If only you could play this kind of game online with online people like you can in mmorpg . . .

Shadowrun is really the only RPG I played that offer that kind of action, their brains together with a little luck (and the decker almost fell to his death on the trip to the roof) made the day. I wish MMOs could be more like that now and then. The whole thing was pretty open ended, I didn't have any exact idea how they were going to do it, I had stats on the people working on the museum (and pictures of course), on the security and the network (guarded by a nasty black IC who looked like a mummy) but they had to figure out how to deal with it themselves.
They actually got a secretary insert a virus that turned off the security on the roof on an limited signed album with her favorite band for starters. I was rather proud of them, their second time playing and I am writing stuff to teach them the world and the game before running "Universal Brotherhood" with them. I have also put a lot of work in pop culture in the year 2050 with bands, movies, holovid shows and so on (Wyrmtalk with Dunkelzahn is always a favorite) to add a more realistic experience.
My rate on the 2 earlier Star wars RPGs from FFG is 3.5-4 of 5. Shadowrun is 5 of 5.
wth? No, I'm not kidding. Since when does this site review pen and paper games? Look, I love p&p games. It's where I started after all (Ahhh Dungeons and Dragons. I remember playing 18 hours, going to sleep for a few hours, then doing it all again in my early 20's. Good times). You guys must be getting short of material if this is what you're resorting to. Let's look at the name on the site... mmo=massively multiplayer online and rpg= role playing games. Recently you've stopped just reviewing the rpg part but I can live with that because it's still the mmo part. And then you stopped with the mmo part and stayed at least with actual computer games. Now you're resorting to p&p games? Do you remember that the very name of this site is mmorpg.com? Maybe you should consider changing the name if you have run out of things to talk about. Cause... damn...
@Moirae I talked about this the first time I ran a column like this. This is the fifth or sixth one. This is something I do as bonus content on the site. This doesn't take away from any MMO content we would have had on the site. This is just, in addition to. Any time you see a column titled "On the Table" it will be a board game or a P&P RPG. Feel free not to read them. Thank you if you do.
