I won t get one. I think it s a fad, and will have detrimental effects that of course have not been researched yet. As like most things though, humans are like cattle and all line up to be slaughtered not having a clue.
not to pew pew how you feel about Oculus but on the second point there is a lot wrong with it.
     1. what is one of the leading cause of neckpain? non-movement while sitting in front of a computer screen.
    2. (speaking personally) I have spent 34 years every day for about 8 hours a day if not more with my eyes on a computer monitor about 1 foot from my face.
    3. people where bicycle helmets, motorcycle helmets and have a blast doing it. Now would they want to fall asleep in a gentle bed of roses for hours with such devices on? no of course not. But they do put them on for several hours of intense fun.
    4. Sitting and not moving the body is very bad for the body, at least this device will help you move your body.

The people with health concerns on this device either arent paying attention to the other things we are doing in life or they think the human body is made of our weak porcelain

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Not trying to be an ass, but how do you know what you ve been doing isn t having detrimental effects on you, that haven t come to the forefront yet. Not wishing any harm on anybody, but theres a ton of research out there that proves how in the long term it s not a great thing to do.

    1. 34 years in front of a computer monitor! are you adovacting that none of us should be sitting in front of a computer because we dont know if the monitors are bad for us?
    2. BECAUSE MY NECK HURTS AND THE DOCTOR SAID ITS FROM NOT MOVING MY NECK AND STTING IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER TO MUCH.

    I hope that answers you

Seeing my friends who got OR devkit 2 and seeing how they basically used it for a couple of hours after which they collected dust.....

    Pass.

Without having a killer app to use it for, nope.

Also I get nauseous with OR devkit2, so I would have to test drive retail to see if it's any better.
but if we early access kickstarter pre-making apps is a bad thing then how can we have a killer app?

sorry its more sarcasm to someone who said what you said but ALSO said kickstarter, pre-order, pre-make is a bad thing and apps should only be made after its out...

anyway...there are 176 games at the moment.

regarding DK2 specifically, its just a major pain in the A to get running for different apps. They have fixed that issue but that issue is why I put mine in the closet.

Did you try watching movies with it? The idea intrigues me. Cinema at home, without needing a mansion:P

Fail to see the hype about this, people actually think it's "cool" or "awesome" to play games at home with a head set on?  This is the kind of thing that is great in amusement parks and arcades for 5-10 minutes.  Don't come telling me you'll be playing with that on your head for 6-7 hours a day.  And I won't even get in to the major health risks.  Like a few people stated above me, VR will do nothing for the gaming world except bringing false sense of "pride" to the thousand of fools that actually buy it.  Like most Razer products, VR is garbage and a total waste of money. I'd rather put 350 bucks on a sweet aquarium for my turtles, at least everyone can enjoy the view. ;)

that whole 'major health issue' really ticks me off to no end, there are multiple problems with that assumption

regardless.. 7 hours? no. 3 -4 hours? yes I have done just that in elite dangerou

I still do not own a cell phone so that should pretty much tell you  my stance on such an item.
Kind of odd the human psyche ,there are always a bunch of people that feel the need to stay out on top of technology even if there is no practical use ,a waste of money. Then there are those that sit idle, pacifists never care one way or another.

I fall in between,i take notice and make a common sense judgment call and this to me looks like nothing more than a cheap gimmick. This will do nothing for the industry other than make a few people rich while others waste their money, pretending they are opening presents on Christmas day.It is funny i mentioned a cell phone because i have actually seen people make videos on you Tube showing them unwrapping their new cell phones just like they were opening presents on Christmas day.....sad really.

As of now it is a complete waste of money, but try and convince all those people opening their presents, they are amused by a piece of hardware ,some transistors and diodes a goofy looking gadget to stick on their head,50 years from now people will look back and say WTF !!!

How many people still play with their Nintendo Power glove and that was 1990.Imagine 25 years later and nobody cares about that old gimmick, people probably chuckle about it now but back then there was probably some internet frenzy raving about the latest technology ..the Power Glove !!!.
Hey! I've read almost the same post about apples ipad when it was announced :)!
I guess if everyone would run around with this mindset we would stay still for.... forever ^.^?

I bet my left twinkle toe that if it flops you will be all on the "told ya" train..
If it's the major success we will not hear from you ever again?

Meh.. I don't mind either. Wait for it and we'll see...
