Black Desert: Is It Any Good?

Or as this streamer / Youtuber points out:  " Who will play Black Desert and Who will not ".

I tend to agree with him.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

For those of us that prefer reading articles to watching videos, can you sum it up for us?

No disagreement from me. @Leiloni Basically what the video says is that BDO looks awesome, has awesome system, great combat, and a lot of mob grinding.

The video dude also believes that it will be too complex for a lot of gamers to get their head around, I agree. BDO moves at a slower pace. Much more virtual world than WoW or any other themepark. For example it took 2-3 of my workers chopping trees around 15 hours to get the wood I needed for my row boat. It took them another 2 1/2 days to put it together. Pretty close to how it would be in the real world lol.

This is what I got from the video:

    1) The game is VERY grindy.
    2) It has a complex crafting system.
    3) The game itself is very complex.
    4) It is geared toward the hardcore that have more than an hour of time a night to play.
    5) Is it good? Good is subjective. It will be good to a certain crowd and not to the crowd who prefer more hand holding. Anybody that says this game is good or bad and says other opinions don't matter is narcissistic lol.
    6) It is Buy to Play which should help with the risk of a Pay to Win cash shop which killed Archage.
    7) The questing system isn't the focus, so if your focus is on PVE questing to level, you might enjoy other games more.
    8) Leveling is very slow.
    9) A level 1 can craft or obtain very high level gear if they want, though there will be some roadblocks like needed to kill something high level at the far reaches of the world.
    10) kiting to kill is important.
    11) There is more of a penalty feel (no instant sucess) that many are accustomed to in the traditional themepark framework.
    12) Some things 'may' change for the western release.
    13) Some PVP concerns, but there is a lot of focus on PVP in this game.
    14) Housing and Guild Functions are a focus
    15) Things as simple as taming a horse having a learning curve. Those who were used to vanilla WOW may be OK, but others in the current WOW world would be in shock lol.
    16) Though subjective yet again, may be the nicest looking MMO out there.
    17) Combat system is action oriented and seems to be generally 'fun' for those who are using it.

    There Is Always Hope!

Good or bad will depend on cash shop. If they will do the same as in RU, it will fail. Their is always hope.

From what I've seen leveling is very fast. If you tried you would probably hit 50 (soft cap) in a day or two.

I think he means beyond level 50.

Black Desert is a Beat 'em Up.  There is no MMO in this game.  You walk into a mob of 100 enemies and smash buttons until they're all dead.  It is more like Dynasty Warriors than anything else.

    It sure is pretty though.

I think it looks like a great game, my only gripe is the sexualization these games keep leaning towards, TERA , BnS is another example. I mean, dont get me wriog, the female body is a beautiful thing and a work of art and I love seeing them : )  But in these kinda settings I prefer the more armoured type.....but thats me.

You clearly don't know a thing about the game, thanks for stopping by the thread though.

Reminds me of Eve Online where it crafting (or manufacturing in eve) is supposed to bring with it more realism, which IMO more of a payoff when you do finish crafting what you want.

    Is it perfect? Nope

Does it provide a ton of content? Yep

Is it fun? Depends on the individual

I'm having fun and I'm not even "trying."

I didn't pay attention to the game until now, but just watched a Wizard class guide.
Holy crap, this game looks BAD ASS!
