when will people understand on F2P games there will allways be gold seller spam. ban a IP they just change their program and continue. ban the account they just make a new one. a b2p or p2p game is a lot better and harder on them. BUUUUUT no one likes those two models any more so we have to settle.

@HikaruShidou That is the sad truth about the gold spamming industry. Who can blame them for trying to support their families with a job like that though! lol
To those that don't think this will impact the game. Think again. When AC2 released a month into the game the chat system went all wonky. You could only chat if the person was on your friends list and then it was still iffy. Group chat, regional chat, world chat, trade chat was not working. This lasted for over a month and Turbine never really solved the issue. It was "one" of the reasons many people quit playing AC2.
People do use regional chat and faction chat in B&S. People use it to ask questions, warn others of PvP actions being taken by the other faction, and they use it for trade. If people cannot use these main chat channels because it scrolls by so fast due to gold spamming chat(making it un-usable) people will quit. It's all ready happening.
Games that don't make money in the US market die. It is very costly to operate a game in the US. If the profit isn't there the company will pull the plug on it.
Gold sellers and threads venting about them. Things that will happen at every new MMO release.
More like "gold sellers are in every NCsoft game".
I have been MMOing 17 years, this is not just something NCsoft has a problem with. Its everywhere and in every launch. Skyforge released a few months ago and in that game you cant even trade anything. So I though, great, this will be the first MMO launch I wont see gold sellers. Nope. They were selling gold to people and just not bring people the gold and people in chat kept telling people. You cant trade in this game but people kept yelling how they got ripped off. Oddest thing to watch ever.
Whoever thinks blocking one gold seller at a time and then doing that again endlessly will eventually get rid of the gold sellers is a fucking idiot. There are bots that make new accounts and spam shit. What the fuck are you trying to do stop 1 at a time ? there a thousands. How about you just look at guild chat or combat chat, and stop fucking complaining. Faction chat is already cancerous enough irregardless of gold sellers.
everquest 1 Never had Gold spammers selling Gold on websites when I played,
Everquest 2 has zero gold spammers for selling gold on websites
so not all games have this problems....you have just Never played a game that doesn't let this happen
Let me rephrase that for you. Every f2p game has had gold seller problem at launch. And some b2p games and p2p games as well. They are like those fake phone calls who get your number and always try to scam you. Nothing you can really do to stop them from calling.
I've quit games or stopped subscribing because of gold seller spam in chat and in game mail.
Last night was a joke, the gold spammers went on full attack mode and completely took faction and region chat from the players and NCSoft and Team Bloodclot had no answers. They even spam in LFG using the tool.
It's not the fact that gold sellers are in the game it's the fact that everyone with a quarter chunk of brain knew it was coming and the devs should have had things in place to help players, like not having a block list of 50 (who the F%$K thought this was acceptable?) and certain triggers so flooding isn't allowed. Sheesh.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
I've never seen gold seller spam this bad. You literally can't use chat channels, which is really bad for a brand new community.
To people saying "every new MMO has it" well yes they have it but not like this. Even Archeage the gold-seller/buyer Mecca of modern gaming didn't have it this bad.
Every once in awhile in primetime a GM will purge them but in 10 minutes they are all back.
I agree they should have forseen this. Now how they handle this will show us if they are worthy of publishing this title. I never figured out how Trion was so stupid in how they handled Archeage. I hope to see ncwest deal with this properly. I do know that they did a good job in Aion but at what cost. Aion you cant speak at all till lvl 20. I'd hate to see them follow Aion but really is there another solution? I love how people criticize but can't come up with a decent solution.

That solution would be pretty good. There's no use in being able to talk currently because nobody will hear you in between all the spam.
Puting a level restriction on chat is 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater" type of thing. It's a new game, people want to chat in it from getgo.
It's funny to me that over the years complaints about gold sellers went from "they ruin game economies" to "spam is ruining my chat experience". it's clearly a problem yes but in a F2P game i just can't think of any smart solution atm.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
The only solution would be active moderation. But that's something no company would ever want to sink money in. Not to mention the brainless task of it.
For every move there is a counter move. Come up with smart ways to block them and the smart gold spammers come up with a counter move. So nope, to your nope. FACT: Every new MMO has a problem with gold sellers. Even games where you cant trade gold. If you think its so easy, you should start a company and show them how its done. Its much like hackers, new ways to stop them needs to be implemented each week. Why? Because hackers always fine new ways to exploit systems and updates. This war will never end.
Like I said, after Steven Klug implemented the algorithm, gold spam dropped to 0.
People always generalize
"Every game has gold sellers" "Everything can be hacked"
These are nonsensical arguments, that aren't true. There are class differences between programmers, there are security systems that have never been hacked, there are MMO algorithms that DO stop gold spammers.
if there is sellers there is buyers , ppl talk like this guys appear just to annoy you , no they are here for the ppl that buy gold.... and looks like there are tons of this

No they really aren't if those games prove to be popular. FFXIV is a prime example. It is a pretty popular MMORPG and has a box price + a sub fee. It also has one of the worst gold spammer problems in any game period to the point that you even need to block whispers in chat to avoid seeing them...
Because hackers always fine new ways to exploit systems and updates.
Not always, often developers DO outsmart hackers. Developers ARE the better programmers, developers have the bigger budget.
Are many games hackers and gold spammer cesspools? Yes.
Are all games like that? No. But you never hear about the developers stopping hackers.
EQ and EQ2 may not see them due to there basically being legalized "gold" buying in this day and age (at least with EQ 2 with krono) There are ways to fight them, but even a learning algorithm would take some amount of time to learn and get rid of them. That said using EQ/EQ2 as an example those two are some of the most heavily botted games in existence

You literally can't use the chat channels, so while people might want to chat they can't either way.
At least the lvl 20 restriction would curb the problem.
Just reporting the queue is down to 120 people today, from 3k at launch one week ago. Also that queue was very quick, taking only minutes to go through as compared to many many minutes previously.
I'm been excited about this game for awhile, got in early access and I have to admit, spending the first few minutes of the game blocking gold spammers is wearing me down. I love playing the game, but I dread logging on and having to deal with it.

Well they did open 6 new servers and increased population limits. And everyone seems to ignore the fact that gold spammers do not exist outside of the lvl 10 zone.

That's only because they haven't had time to level yet. Previously there were none in Faction chat either, but today I couldn't ban them fast enough and finally gave up.
Bot trains are in Cinderlands, so the spam isn't far behind.
