So Smed took EQNs AI guy when he left? Hmmm interesting.
Indeed.
I never gave much of a crap about the minecraft and cartoon aspects of EQN when they announced it. New NPC behavior and mobs that raid you... that was a different story and I was looking forward to seeing that in action if and when they pulled it off.
People are always whining about the shitty features we've become accustomed to in MMOs like canned quests, static mob spawns, everyone doing exactly the same thing in the same order... all of them symptoms of the real problem: primitive NPC and mob AI.
And even when they hear "AI," trolls like to troll it on the basis of individual combat AI being too tough... as if that were the important bit. The important parts and what MMOs need to kick them up a notch is AI for simulated NPC lives and preferences where they might give you a quest but not the next guy if they dislike him or might decide they've had enough and move somewhere else; where the same mob doesn't always spawn on the same spot and just waits there, where mobs decide to group up, migrate and attack a village... or not, whichever is in their best interest.
The lack of authenticity within a game world due to artificial and repetitive NPC and mob behavior scripts is what makes them feel like the same old shit. That's the part that needs the most work.
And no, Columbus Nova doesn't give a shit about that. Venture capitalists are not about innovation, just a quick buck.

Still not as bad as Rydeson... There isn't much to talk about so i create it mostly whatever is running through my head at the time. I don't hold anything in this forum sacred so i don't edit anything and i really don't take this as seriously as you think i do. Id rather go to the forums of the official sites and post there or reddit but i think im not good enough to host a convo there so i come here. And who really cares if its nonsensical? This is the worst site for EQN ive ever seen...
I mean i have a voice, ive done nothing but try to bring my own perspective in hopes someone else agrees with me and couldn't bring it out (post) for some reason or another. It's not going to be shut down because highhole thinks i should quit or im trolling. Everything is relevant to what what the pulse of EQN is and what seems to be obstentatious for now can make sense when things look different in this development scope. Ive done nothing but make points sometimes not as coherent but they are what it is unless you have some filter then it is you that is obstructing debate.
See, two complete comments that are clear and I don't have to triple read them to figure out what you are saying. Which annoys me as clearly you can, but simply don't. Hard to have conversations, debates, whatever when one or more parties are off in la la land.
Rydeson at least made sense and his opinion was/is clear. Simply didn't like the EQN design and the direction they were taking the EQ franchise as he prefers the older model. I understand that, might not agree, but it is clear. Not ramblings about WoW and 2011-2014 rivalries or the AI being doomed because one guy left after working there for a bit.
EQN reddit hasn't been very active or positive for a while, but at least it is people somewhat interested in EQN and not totally random people like this site which don't have any interest in the game, just want their opinion to be read.
I believe I've typed the most comments about EQN of anyone and much prefer the reddit format and conversations that happen there, but can't help but get caught up in the nonsense that happens here from time to time.
You should try posting some of your views/thread topics on reddit, might get a "better" conversation started.
With that I gotta cut myself off or I'll ramble on myself forever.
EQN at this point in time is a mystery and that's about it. Either it will be amazing, okay, garbage, or never release. Time will tell. Beyond that, we don't know what any of it means and can only make educated guesses that don't be squat.

Fixed that for you.
The one who killed SOE, was Smed in his chasing that quick buck, at the expense of his customers.
And he did that, for YEARS.

Bad news indeed.
