Just a heads up for those who don't know. The characters stop moving when you attack something. So you can't attack while moving like other action games. It takes some getting use to for sure.
Animation locking is pretty standard fare in action games, what games are you comparing it to?
ESO, Tera, GW2, B&S none of these games have animation locking.
Some skills have animation lock where you have to finish the animation before doing other things, but most just require you to cancel properly, which is similar to at least TERA and GW2. Haven't tried the others. IMO this game's smoothness in combat doesn't have much of a difference when comparing those two games.

From what I tried and I admit it was only for an hour. To do any normal attack I had to go through a complete animation lock that lasted about 1 second then another animation lock for 1/2 second before I could move again. Because of this I am unwilling to just put up money for a b2p product I'm not sure this problem goes away at higher levels or what. Although a lot of people are saying this game is smooth and even compares with Tera and GW2's action combat. I did not see that at all myself. I just don't trust gaming companies to buy anything before I can try it.

Tera also does that, some of us are used to it from there
But you're right, it takes getting used to

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.

Tera has animation locking (its pretty extreme in Tera), GW2 yeah but it is basically tab-targeting and ESO is a bit more of a hybrid. I don't think Dark Fall Unholy Wars had locking, but it's been ages since I played that. However, most action games I have played have animation locking, and sometimes there are skills that will let you instantly break out of an animation.
Its interesting that you noticed it in BDO though, was it worse/ more pronounced than in Tera? (I thought Tera's combat was good but the animation locks were a bit long).

Tera has animation locking, you hear complaints about it all the time.
I am personally for animation locking.

Failed launch - No intelligent game manager, would ever launch its game at the same time as another much more popular MMO is being released.
Obviously people are forced to make a choice now between The Division and Black Desert Online.
Daum EU had whole February to release it, yet they waited and this is the result. Failed Management from the start.
I will join Black Desert few month from release, when it go F2P to battle the dead servers. The number of players interested in this game is so low, i can't believe they are still clinging to B2P label.
The fun part is, for all the B2P label, they are releasing the exact copy of KR+RU F2P version. They made no changes to the game that justify the B2P label.
Don't forget any of those who wish to pre-order the game, This game installs 3rd party software called "XingCode3" and is not covered under their "Terms OF Service" or mentioned to any of the buyers, this software constantly runs in the background with computer startup, and has no uninstall options.
I have informed the game company, and they have failed to update their Terms OF Service, or inform buyers yet.
Xigncode only runs with the game itself... I don't see any records of it being installed either? If you saw this in other games, maybe they use a different version for BDO?

1, division is not a traditional mmo
2, not everyone likes the setting of Division (as a point of note, you said this same thing before and I have 0 interest in the Division.
3, you sound like sour grapes with your "They should have released in February".
They will release at a time they think is wise. Since The Division and Black Desert are completely different games they will also speak to a different game play desire from their prospective audience.
4, get over the B2P thing. It is a done deal.

I'm stoked. Head Start should be right around my birthday.
You didn't mentioned the launch of Russian B2P/P2P server tomorrow.
Unlike the Eu/NA B2P server, Russian server had some very unique changes to it's version that neither of the regions had befor, and this changes actually justify it's B2P label. I would say it is a true B2P server of Black Desert.

I know that almost all hard core PvP guilds that are listed in Black desert will also be playing The Division. Black Desert release date is a real kick in a butt for Black Desert community, since everyone knew that The Division is going to be released on March 8 for many months now. Well apparently everyone except the Daum EU, heh.

Maybe they think that there is no overlap and that people who want a shooter are not going to be interested in a Fantasy hack and slash.
I can't buy that you know the mind of "all hard core pvp guilds". Additionally, larger multi-game guilds usually seem to have people interested in multiple games so I bet going to the websites of some of those pvp guilds will reveal that they have people who will play either and maybe both games.
Also, having both games exist at the same time was going to happen eventually so any pvp guild would have to make a choice (though again, I don't think it's going to be a real issue as there will be different people who want different games).

Will have to wait until they decide to go F2P + P2W and decide that South America is also a contintent where people live and have money to waste on games.

Maybe its just the way it happens. See I don't mind and expect animation locking like GW2 and ESO have with certain abilities. I mean you are doing a whirlwind distance attack I expect it to lock animation until completed. But there should also be a lot of other abilities that have no animation lock. I remember in BDO I would do a basic attack and first my character would stop moving then he would take one step forward then do the attack animation then take a step backward then I was able to move. Maybe this kind of stuff improves over the coarse of the game and then again maybe it was just that berserker/warrior/giant class I was playing.

It's standard hack/bot protection software and it does not run on computer startup or constantly in the background. It runs when you're playing the game for protection and quits when you quit the game. Chill out man.
Look under services.msc and you will see it running there under wellbia it does run at all times and is listed under here with no way to uninstall it unless you do it manually, Most people wont notice it.
Also regardless of being common or not they should inform people.
The Anti-Cheat you say is common might be, but pretend im a new user unaware of it in any way at all and I just think im downloading a game and I agree specifically to the Terms OF Service of Black Desert............ I do not agree to them installing third party software by webella, or their agreement, as its not made by the same company who developed Black Desert or listed there.
Thanks for this information. I will stay away until they correct this error...
