PVE sucks. Endgame is all about PVP until we get the Infinite Tower. If you don't like arena, you're not going to like the game at 45. Game is pretty well balanced in PVP, IMO. I play a Blade Master, and ya, I probably work a little harder for my wins, but player skill > class.

believe whatever you want. I've witness first hand where the ethics of ncsoft is, and I know better than to spend my playtime in any of their games. And I will continue to warn other players as a good citizen everytime they release a new game. Then I will also continue to laugh at the same complaints made 10 years ago, and the same denial posts such as this one, and watch the cycle continue.
Why would anyone listen to someone who "retired" from MMO's? Do you not have anything better to do than post about games which you think are crap?

I'm playing this game for fun action combat.  If you are playing for any other reason you will be disappointed.
Are you onto something or just on something?

    Answering cerulean2012:

no not banned still playing the game, not mad just sad cause it is yes p2w. If you buy gold you can get everything in end game in 1 minute. Yes... that's totally p2w dudeeeee!

And yes, NCSoft don't ban the gold dealers because they get something with that, I'm sure about that. Programming something to block that is super easy, really! They don't do that because they don't want! Simple!
  • pongdunpongdun Member UncommonPosts: 81
And I totally agree with Svandy.

The game is kinda joke. You can get max gear without doing any quest or dungeon or anything, just insert coins (dollars ;)

All you have to do is log in and the truth is shown...

As I've said before there is not a reasonably successful game that doesn't have farmers.

If you are saying that the evidence of bots/farmers in a game is indicative of compliance on the side of the game company then Blizzard is in cahoots, Turbine is in cahoots, etc.

I think the truth is that it's an uphill battle. As was pointed out in another thread, they might not even have to connect to the game with an account and can possibly access chat automatically inserting their advertisements.

I'm starting to think Blade and Soul has it right where you can't trade directly to specific people.

you are totally wrong man... p2w is not "advantage over others that is UNOBTAINABLE via normal means". It is simply selling stuff you can get in the game for money. Simple, that's p2w dudeeeee

well actualy i think someone should go and google the term "p2w"

is the picture a little clearer?
It's a bit apples to oranges no?

Blizzard with oodles of Money might be able to afford live gm's.

I've reported bots in Lord of the Rings Online (I don't see many but I used to see them) and I didn't get a message in 5 minutes and see the bot get removed. Should that make it clear enough to tell me that Turbine is supportive of gold selling?

What you are talking about is not solely the issue of NC Soft.

But heck, I can put on a tin foil hat as well and say that Blizzard is supportive of gold selling as there are loads of sites out there but as soon as someone makes a row they superficially squash the bot/farmer to keep up appearances.

That is of course made up but there are loads of gold sites for WoW so doesn't that make it clear ...

or maybe the clear thing is that it's an uphill battle that takes loads of resources from places that should get it like actual game development.

Don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer in live gm's. But I think the situation is far more complex and far greater problem than some gamers choose to believe. Let's put it this way, I log into Blade and Soul, block about 5 accounts and I'm good. done. So "logic" should dictate that is all that is needed and why don't they have a live gm doing that.

But if these game companies are banning thousands upon thousands of accounts then it seems like that's more than live gm's can actually handle. Which is why they have to rely upon automatic ways of doing so and why some player might get caught as possible botters only to hear them cry on forums about how x company has wrongly accused them. May or may not be the case.

You can't have it all. And neither can they. The real problem? Players who cheat. If players didn't cheat then we wouldn't be having this problem. but they do and they certainly aren't going to stop. So game companies have to take their money to deal with these people when they should be using it for other things.

On the bots issue - yes I agree the gold spam is insanely annoying, but lets be realistic. NCSoft would need a team of like 50 dedicated CS reps banning these bots to even put a dent in it at this point, and with the game being free nothing stops them from taking the 2 seconds to sign up again.

I agree with a point made earlier that they should not let the rabid horde of gold sellers dictate game design, and they should stand by their choices... that said, the design of the game where money is everything is basically inviting the gold sellers. An elegant solution would be to allow people to buy gold directly from NCSoft, but then the players would cry pay to win.

Such is the world of online gaming now. Even pay-walls don't stop their scumbags anymore - look at DayZ and H1Z1's terrible hacker infestation.

I don't know if I would say it sucks, it is incredibly shallow though.  I have no idea why so many defended it as hard as they did, I even saw ex Tera players hating on it when it has all the issues that game has plus a lot more.  I guess it's just because it's new.

Anyway that's the design of the game, it's made for gaming cafes in Korea.

I agree with the OP, but it doesn't "suck" for me 100%. I have fun. I wasn't expecting much beyond the story and good combat. It can be very frustrating at times.

    • The weapon system is trashy, no variation. Every single weapon in the game is fodder. From what I understand your main weapon will be fodder for the "next" weapon you get. P2W > get gear upgrades faster > more powerful > farm other players faster > get more stuff
    • As I stated in other threads, the loot system (bidding) is horrendous. I can't understand how this is a good idea especially when there is so much PUG'ing going on.
    • The crafting is the biggest pile of compost I've ever experienced in a game. No exploration no nothing just make a request and wait 24hrs (top level items)
    • The OWPVP is a total joke. I don't even know why they bothered with the faction gameplay. It doesn't work with channels and people being able to flag on and off. There's no payoff. They need to do some kind of ESO campaign set up where players fight over soul stone mines. How it is now is bogus.
    • There should be loot sharing because of how the combat works.
    • Arena PVP is ok. Very repetitive after a few matches.

Beyond this, the combat is fun AF, and the story arc made me want to know what happens next (all things considered).

    Just my opinion.

I'm level 43 currently and when I log in I have to block 2 gold spammers.  Done.

The quest system is similar to other MMOs.  If you hate most MMOs, you'll hate the quest system in this game too.

Combat is exceptional, PVP is exceptional.

More than enough here to spend my zero dollars on.

I would have to say I agree with this statement... when I am killing mobs, its fun and I dont mind it. Sort of in a Dynasty Warriors style where I just zone out and beat people to a pulp.... but that is the only part of the game I really felt invested in. Leveling, despite how insanely fast and easy it is, felt like a chore because the quests were dull and I knew there was no light at the end of the tunnel other than arena PVP.

I am bashing in the game quite a bit lately, but I suppose it is fair to say I had no reason to believe the game would have any meaningful PVE content. I did my research, and knew it was a PVP focused game. It is just so bizarre  to me how they built it. Other PVP focused games blend the PVP and PVE together somewhat seemlessly (EVE, Darkfall, etc) where the PVE feeds the PVP. Blade and Soul almost feels like two totally separate games.

So you are saying Ncsoft is too poor to afford live GM's? That is rather funny.

There are too many bots for a gm to handle? LoL...

As a GM, it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to run through the world (as invisible) and see the army of bots that have taken over the world where no normal player can exp anywhere.

"The real problem is players cheat". Well yeah, and how does the company handle it? They don't, in fact they condone it. If game breaking problems are ignored and rules don't apply, why would anyone stick around. Then you wonder why blizzard did so much better.

    My solution is simple...

Make people pay for the game. Don't ever have a cash shop, make all items available through gameplay. Keep monthly subscription, and have live GM's to handle cheaters. If the game was done really well, it will succeed. If it was not, it will fail. And the spam account creation for bots will cease.

If you wanted to, you could even throw in a free-demo-to-full-account deal. During the demo phase you cannot talk or trade with other players.
It's been said by people in the business that there are thousands and thousands of farmers/bots that are banned each day but a few get through and suddenly the sky is falling.

Now, sure, if I had an mmo company I would have a live person do exactly what you are saying. No argument from me there. But most companies look at their bottom line and they see a salary going for something that they feel is a small symptom but not combating the real problem.

So is NC Soft too poor to hire someone to do as you say? Of course not. But Neither is Turbine or most other companies where we've seen farmers. I think they look at the amount of bots/farmers that a person can catch, look at the salary and then compare it to their automated systems and it seems like a waste. Heads and Pay is no small thing in a company and I bet they are looking at that salary and thinking, "where else can it be better put to use".

This game is only worth playing until March 3rd when Black Desert comes out that's it.

If you argue that this game has depth then you're probably paid off by the gold sellers because they are the only guys having fun in this game.

Honestly if MMORPGs keep coming out like this I am going to start missing games like WOW.

At least there the was a feeling of playing a role like a healer or tank or such or something challenging even if the challenge at times was getting 20 people to log on at the same time to get a raid going.

Pvp is so lame in this game SOMETIMES you might run into a guy you can fight while you're questing but that's rare or just do a 1v1 over and over again ...come on... have mini games or something ...so that it at least shows you  tried to think of fun things. This game was a cash grab that's it. If it is huge in Korea I am wondering if they really not have a huge selection of mmos there.

The game is a really generic f2p theme park with a deep, skill-based, pvp combat system. The pve endgame (even in kr) is very shallow. The game is pretty much made for max level 3v3 and 1v1 arena.

Yes, at 45 some classes are at a disadvantage compared to others. At 50 from what I've read there's a lot more balance.

Info on this game has been out for awhile, it shouldn't be that much of a surprise.
