I already own ESO on PC and have played till level 35 or so , so I am quite familiar with the game.
Recently I have been craving some elder scrolls, so I thought I would boot this game and start leveling up again. However, I would prefer if I could play it on one of my consoles. I have a ps4 and an xbox one, I am gravitating more towards the xbox version as the xbox is my preferred console to play on.
How is the population on the consoles? Is it dead? Cause i know MMORPGs are not big on consoles. It's not particularly expensive but not sure I want to pick it up if there's no one playing it.

I can't say for Xbox, but for the PS4 the population seems very healthy. I am really enjoying the game on console as I am playing in on a 55 inch UHD TV while sitting in my chill couch :awesome:
Personally I am not a fan of Addons, I mean I played EVE for years and yes I used them, but for the most part it was all for navigation and stuff like that, as for a game like ESO,WoW,ToR ect I find the addons to be ridiculous. So if you are big into addons then no a console version would suck for you, but if you are not handy special and don't need such things for PVP and like to explore then its great and such a better experience.

thats my reason for wanting it on console. Much more relaxing on tv and also I prefer elder scrolls games with controller.

If you haven't tried this already you may want to give it a shot, best of both worlds!
On the PC, the controls were too clunky, I think I quit by the time I got to level 8 or so. I spent more time looking down at my keyboard than actually looking at the computer screen trying to play this game.
On consoles, the controls make sense because they are similar to many other RPG games, and FPS (the game's combat is more like an FPS than an actual MMORPG like WoW, EQ2, Rift, etc.).
Control-wise, the PC version feels like port and the Console version feels like the flagship. It makes a big difference, and i wouldn't be surprised if this game put off a lot of potential long-term players with the absolute sheer amount of key binds it demands on the PC, in addition to some really funky (i.e. horrible) defaults. The default key binds in some cases don't even exist on a PC/Mac KB/Mouse... Mouse Button 4, Left Trigger, and F13 aren't on your average PC KB/Mouse. In fact, I have never seen a PC or Mac KB with an F13 button... so I'm completely dumbfounded why they bound a function to that key by default (unless they ran out of buttons, since the game uses so damn many).
The biggest issue with the Console version is the lack of KB/Mouse support for text chat. I just don't understand how they can leave that out on PS4, which has had KB/Mouse support since it released (FFXIV uses it to great aplomb). It was a dumb decision, IMO.
So, I haven't played the game since the holiday season and my toon sits at level 3 because it's not really fun as a single player RPG where you don't even communicate with other human beings except through a stupid "gesture" system.
I have no need or want to voice chat with people I am not grouped with, don't know personally, and aren't affiliated with in any way other than "we play the same game." That's just keen of ... creepy to me.
Those damn console companies would never have it.
