This is exactly what i'm talking about, where we can't trust any developer. No matter what side of the ocean they are on.
I'm going to put my trust into the devs over at COE but it is getting hard to trust any of them.
You should never "trust" them to begin with, you should always approach it with a sense of knowing, they're trying hard to sell you something for as much as they can. These companies aren't friends, they're not buddies, they're salesman, whether they are indie or AAA. The indies are the worst to trust as they are trying the hardest to sell and become successful, they want a new day job...
Although that's very true. And it works perfectly well when it comes down to single-player games. But since you will invest financially and emotionally in an MMORPG much more trust is a factor here. You can always quit a game when they make decisions you don't like. You can always say hey I had my fun. But you might suffer a post-breakup syndrome since you can't get out of all your relationships intact.
Yeah I'm going to have a period of fun with BDO, if I got more out of it well lucky me. But for instance when it comes down to CoE, I need to trust them on some level before I can invest in that sort of an MMORPG again.
That's my point though, I learned that long ago in SWG (twice)... It's the trust that leads to that emotional attachment, it's the complacency. I had my shame on me moment when the NGE hit. I trusted again... hasn't happened since. I highly enjoy my gaming life now. Haven't had a true disappointment in about a decade.

I'm not thrilled by the fact that I bought a conqueror's pack and it gives you 2k Pearls, which means I still need $10 more for a costume... Like what the actual hell? I could buy 4-6 pieces of clothing in real life for that!
Hmm, pretty interesting. I personally don't give a crap about the cost of cash shop costumes (although I don't like any of them that have an effect on gameplay), but if Daum does lower the prices, it will empower the community which is a good thing.
If they ever decide to go p2w in the future the community might have a chance to stop it, or at least curb it's impact.
Also, and I'm not saying this is Daum's plan, but I wonder how the community would react if they came back and said, "As a B2P game, we will need to have steady source of income. Pricing the costumes like we have is an attempt to prevent the game from becoming p2w while still being sustainable."
It's a stupid thing to do, given how sensitive people are to such things, but it isn't shady. Shady would be burying that clause somewhere in the EULA where it would be easy to overlook. Instead, they put it right out front so everyone knows what they're getting into, and have the option of backing out and getting a refund before committing.
As for the cash shop, I don't plan on ever playing the game so it matters little to me. I will say the costumes are pretty ridiculously priced. The fact that most look like they were designed by a color-blind gay man just adds insult to injury.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.
On top of all the cash shit, the core game is same old same old, zero innovations. Apart from the combat, which is the game only plus in my opinion. /sigh
It would be cheaper for players to just do a subscription if the goal is to keep the game financially viable. Good luck if you can't get enough whales to finance the non-cash shop users. What does this game offer that whales can't already get or even get more of in another game?
Wait so people are mad cause the costumes and dyes are to spendy... Holy first world problems!
They have extremely pay to win elements in a buy to play game. Also the prices are nearly double that of other games that are similar and free to play. Examples? ArcheAge for one.
Total bullshit. You have no idea what you are talking about. Stop spreading the lies you heard from someone. There are ZERO pay to win elements anywhere.
You are the one that is confused. Daum EU said clearly they will introduce P2W to the cash shop after launch, by having Cash Shop items being traded for In-game silver.
I bought the $50 pack. As far as I can see it has everything I need to play plus a couple of luxury items, that seems like a reasonable price to me.
If they bring down the prices in the store I won't be complaining, but there is nothing in there I need outside of my upfront purchase, and the store seems free of blatant p2w elements that really mess with games like items that guarantee enchanting works, etc.

Source because right now you're talking out of your ass. Unlike you I have a source that states otherwise and straight from the horse's mouth.

2] In RU and KR, the costumes are $60 for a FULL set.
3] The only stats it gives you is 5% exp increase, +% Jump, Hiding Name [which anyone can do by crouching] so let see all these "pictures of rampant p2w" please. Since that comment just proved you clearly have no idea what your spouting but just doing so because you do not like the game. It's okay not to like the game but to spread false information is another thing.
In light of these new revelations I think I will buy the game and play it until I no longer find it fun. With all the real issues in the world i just can't get to excited about this.
Problem for me... Solved!
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
So , we transited from F2P to B2P , and now we are at B2P with full F2P system.
Great
What makes it a full F2P system?
The fact that as prices go they do not need B2P
why not ? they can, many people pay for it
they just change the tag from the shit they give, in the west now f2p are a bad name now, they use b2p now but it the same shit,
others dev have also started name DLC , ADD-ON,
they just pick the same package and change the name and sell you the shit
and it work !!! LOL
Precisely. Game is basically B2P with full F2P system.
It's just not as P2W as today's ridiculously P2W games (yet). But that's only if you compare it to the worse of the worse, which really shouldn't be very flattering (but I guess everyones' so desensitized to it by now that many haven't noticed that anymore). It's still just as F2P-cash-shop-ish as several others though, except now with B2P door price!
If you were too dumb to see this coming, expect more in the future because there isn't really much to do at max level except pvp and you know more of these items will be appearing in the cash shop soon. Your typical pay-to-win f2p game and if you are too blinded by the graphics to see this, I feel very sad for you.
Typical Asian MMO that has one intent, to drain your pocketbook and particularly the whales.
Up until seeing this I was thinking of buying the game after playing the beta today but this sort of thing makes me very wary as it sends out a bad message about how this company will do business in future .
I will wait and see how this all plays out in the coming months .
I get the impression from reading this forum and others on the internet that Daum have really shot themselves in the foot .

1) The info is in your image. It clearly states, after launch they will be selling Cash Shop Items. They only disable it for the launch phase.
2) Costumes in RU region cost 22€ and Pets 5€. - It's the cheapest BDO Region.
3) P2W comes in to play when you start exchanging Cash Shop items for In-game Silver. Players like this will gather millions and up to billion of Silver this way, and will be able to afford the most powerful items, which will make them almost unbeatable, thanks to the unfair enchanting curve that starts at +16.
Everything that I have described has already happened in RU region. I have personally seen it. But just so we are on the same foot - P2W didn't killed the game in RU region, and I don't think it will kill it in EU/NA region either.
PvP is alive in RU region and the guilds are only getting bigger and bigger now, some hording up to 500-600 players. And we are fast approaching the 6 month mark for the BDO release in the Ru Region, and they haven't yet got Valancia expansion. So there is much more life in BDO.
So I can say the game will also live for at least 6 month and more in EU/NA.
It's closed beta 2. Not "open beta". Daum isn't doing an open beta. It's basically straight to release after this (March depending on ur early access). Idk who writes this garbage anymore...
For those of you defending this company. shame on you.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY OR BLACK DESERT.
Their game looks good, but its 3 years old, and is ONLY being brough to NA markets and EU markets at this point to bolster sales for their next game that they wont bring to NA and EU markets til its been used up and is three years old in Asia again.
Secondly, the games classes are completely gender locked, and the game itself has NO in game raids, NO world bosses other than a hand full of elites that can can be soloed and done with three people. It has NO armor customization outside of color combo. The voice over work is absolutely terrible. BEYOND Terrible. In fact so bad I would suggest turning off sound during cutscenes as it will only distract you from the small, worthless kill quests. Speaking of that, the questing is a JOKE. HORRIBLY implemented, cluttered UI, half assed cut scenes that don't give any info, but just generally try to paraphrase what was translated poorly. This is possibly the poorest example of a market transition for an MMO I have seen in two years.
Then theres the amazing auto pathing system that is broken and constantly gets you stuck on objects. Furthermore, WHO THE HELL USES AUTO PATHING IN AN MMO?!?!?! WHY!? "I want to play a game... but I don't actualy want to play it." ?? This is just so bad its unbelievable. They had a great concept, great combat look, and COMPLETELY GAVE UP ON MAKING A PRODUCT FOR THE PLAYER! IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY HERE PEOPLE!
Its joke status all the way around. I mean 360 degrees of it. If you are a serious gamer about mmo's, you MUST stay away from this handholding, poorly designed, cluttered, flashy, turd of a creation that they force you to buy to try the beta, then refuse you a refund NOT BEFORE YOU PLAY IT; nah youre not that lucky even.
AT THE MOMENT YOU DOWNLOAD THE LAUNCHER!!! THATS RIGHT! JUST DOWNLOAD THE LAUNCHER AND YOU GET NO REFUND!!!! DONT HAVE TO EVEN PLAY IT. THE MOMENT YOU HIT DOWNLOAD FROM YOUR ACCOUNT SCREEN. BAM! DONE! NO REFUND!
Third, the shop is HIGHLY overpriced considering the game hasn't even established itself as being worth the initial buying.
Lastly, and foremost, HOLY CRAP is their return policy shady. YES its states in the agreement that you are going to give away your right to a refund in the agreement... but it does so in small print, half way down the agreement. KNOWINGLY because most people don't read it because the average gamer does NOT have the patience and younger gamers and gamers who aren't college level readers feel it is to advanced in terminology.
This game literally brings very little sandbox to the table, and even less in PVE, and the PVP is questionable considering the amount of lag experienced in larger fights.
PLEASE do not support this company or this game. Save your money and put it towards companies that are at least a little more transparent, maybe providing a more diverse product, and are not in the habit of trying to adopt modified marketing schemes taken from companies like EA.
These guys might be the worst company Ive bought a product from in the history of games, and that's saying a lot considering I have considerable disposable income, and have been an avid gamer for years.
Everyone knew a cash shop was coming and people were still stupid enough to pre-order before seeing the cost of items.. No sympathy for people who are complaining or demanding refunds. You're just ignorant - sorry for you. Since basically the same thing has happened dozens of times with pre-orders, maybe you'll learn this time?
As far as the cost of items in the shop... 9 bucks for a pet is a good price since they have some utility including running around looting for you (otherwise you have to do it by hand). I'd have no problem buying the game and then 3x pets (you can use 3x at once).
The costumes... Yeah, they're pretty expensive. 20-25 is top end for what I'd be willing to pay for them.
