I wish there were more reasons to group. Other than that, I like just about everything else.
The way I understand it the best gear is still behind group mob bosses and doing that is more summon it and kill it instead of forced through dungeons for it.
The main reason for group is death is really harsh late game and you DO NOT want to die.
I have some serious doubts about the game but my husband is excited by it so I will being playing at launch. Having given it a try in the beta it just doesn't grab me. That could be because it has some very unique systems that you are going to miss if you simply go from one obvious quest to the next. I could change my mind on that after playing for more than a few days. My biggest concern is the prices in the cash shop and Energy points (the equivalent to AA labor points but not required for everything like AA was). To the best of my knowledge Energy pots are not in the shop which is good but I don't trust they wont end up in there or as a stat added to gear some how. The costumes are crazy expensive and very little real options unles you love running in around in underwear and a garter belt which they have plenty . /boggle
Not sure if I will... Game is really, REALLY beautiful - no EU/US MMORPG can match that, plus it's very easy to get into with all the visual aids/assists, however I really disliked the English voiceovers and translated text in the Beta client - the translation really feels like it was done by an automated tool or by person who only knows one language and many voices didn't really "match" the physical looks of NPCs. Pretty lazy, immersion-breaking localization job. Plus I'm still not sure how well the English version of the game will be supported in terms of patching bugs and combatting the cheaters and item/currency farmers.
Well i like game but same time i think about age of wushu and archeage (can say others same type game as well)
Have alot things and minor things to do But guess what? in this day i just want sit and do my pvps with minor effort to grind in pve or spend alot time in craft
Other realy good point here about guilds and discipline dont expect you going enjoy game if you dont have at last average efforts in both
My guild i guess dont going play , me well depend more going say no , but game is not bad like 6,5/10 in my score
Actual i play warhammer and i fine with camelot unchained and crowfall going out
This game should be fun but they must fix karma and the shop. If they do that I am in.
Fix Karma in what way?
"Let me gank and grief as much as I want!" That's how I read it anyway.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
The learning curve alone might keep me frustrated enough to keep playing.
Curiously, this is one of the reasons i'm interested in the game too.
Unlike many other titles, BDO is no game that i login to and think "i have played this many times before". It has a depth and a whole new drift about it that makes me want to dig deeper into it.
Can't wait for launch and will definitely be playing it and sticking with it for some time hopefully. To everyone still on the fence please don't feel pressured to buy the 100 or even 50 dollar pack. Even as someone that has purchased 3 $100 dollar packs only to find out how truly underwhelming founders packs were for this game. Outside of the level 5 mount (very big deal and you learn to respect it after you ride a donkey long enough) and a measly $25 dollar value of pearls the founders packs for this game were probably the worst I've seen to date. Sure I was really sold on exclusive costumes only to find out these are what they look like:
You will notice some "subtle" differences but overall the just seem so out of place when you look at what the classes normally wear. Some of the outfits hardly change at all and to make matters worse you only get to choose ONE. You heard me, the outfit is redeemable for only ONE class so know that before you step in. Best case scenario find a friend that's financially inept like myself and get a buddy key, worst case scenario put 30 dollars down and give it a shot. The awesome thing about BDO is if you don't like it or rather looking forward to the Valencia update or more features to be added then you can come back to play it whenever you want because it's B2P.
Yes I know I sound like someone that's supporting the game but at the same time bashing a bit. There is nothing wrong with having positive views where they are well due while constantly criticizing a games flaws. For those looking for some videos to give you some more insight on the game in a concise manner? Well, if pvp means only ganking and griefing then yes, but luckily pvping is more than that. I am against a carebear approach in games, especially sandbox games. The end game is focused on pvp so karma restrictions make no sense.
...but to be totally clear: this is not a game breaking thing for me. I would still play this game if this system remains as it is.
The only thing that I really fear is p2w. Will see.
I'm really tempted to get. I loved the combat and the feel of the world, though the out of place costumes for female pc's turned me off. I should probably save the money.

Gankers are carebears. They want to PK with no consequences. I want consequences and a decent reward, like a piece of their gear, when I hunt them. Else, why waste the time? No risk/consequence pvp is carebear pvp.
I have no problem with retaliation or revenge against a PKer etc. This is exactly what makes pvp fun. The problem is having high karma prevents players to go anywhere, even in a pvp restricted zone. With this harsh penalty nobody is going to risk to PK. This is a carebear mechanic.
This game should be fun but they must fix karma and the shop. If they do that I am in.

There are no karma penalties for warring against other guilds and for sieging. AKA the real PvP content. The penalties are for attacking others without any provocation whatsoever.
So yes, by default when I see someone complaining about how "broken" the karma is, I assume they have little interest in real PvP, and just want to jump people who are engaged in PvE, low on health, or significantly lower level than them.
The fact that you call it broken despite there being no penalties for PvP activities outside of those I just mentioned, shows very clearly where your interest lies.
And if that's what you want to do, all the more power to you. But let's not play coy.

Lets just admit first that you can't read minds eh? What do you say, agreed?
Having cleared that, please do post your opinion but please also let other users explain theirs without your prejudices.
The UI is on crack, showing FARRRRRR too much stuff and is insanely cluttered. If there was an award for it, this game should at least recieve honorable mention for one of the most clunky looking UI in the last 5 years. It took me a while to just get over that element to actually try the game. They could do with a lot of pruning on that side of things. It felt almost like I was playing on some clunky old computer with a resolution you would find on a Gameboy (silly crazy exageration and is crazy and silly :P )
The combat wasn't terrible, but for some reason it just felt off to me. It might just be the sorcerer that just didn't feel right to me though, and its not as if i went that high up in levels. Its not like I hated it instantly like games like GW2 or Dragon Prophet where it had be cringing right off, but at the same time playing it... it just didn't sit right with me. Perhaps it was the class I played it with (sorcerer) but it just didn't feel quite right to me control wise to play.
Maybe I'll give this game another chance at some point, but with the limited time I had I just couldn't get into it. Mostly I'll be looking to see once its launched what people think and how the cash shop ends up being.
Thumbs down, way down, like 6 feet under and buried down, nuh-uh, no way hosay and not just cause of the cash shop either, cause the gameplay is balls.
The learning curve alone might keep me frustrated enough to keep playing.

You two are certainly not alone in that. New systems to learn and hopefully master is one of the main reasons I play games at all. I actually found BDO maybe too much of a good thing in that respect: there were/are just too many things that it does in a different way that I was overwhelmed at first.
I didn't even try to get into horse taming, trading, crafting, fishing, using workers, nodes... not that I won't, but for my introduction to the game I just wanted to try to get the hang of that part of MMOs I typically enjoy the most and spend most of my time doing: fighting. So I used my free CB2 key to fight and grind with mostly just one class (which also felt weird at first) until it started to click. That was when I started to have a lot of fun and started leaning toward buying it.
I also spent a bit of time playing the NPC amity mini-game and unlocked a few quests that way. That part of the game I haven't seen in a long time and reminded me a little bit of Vanguard.
Lots of depth and lots to learn... positives for me.

I personally loved the combat here, very fluid for me and once I got my timings down on -insert hot key for skill here- I could combo very easily as a Warrior. I also LOVE running in this game, it was one of my guilty pleasures just running around the place and pressing Shift to watch my Breath training increase, and of course, witness the beautiful world of BDO. It's a game that I'll definitely invest a lot of hours in.
I will be playing and I purchased a founders pack. I knew about the gender locking and I would have prefered to play a male character, but I'm most concerned about the current high costs in the Pearl shop for a b2p game.
