The Division Breaks Beta Record

http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/02/22/over-six-million-people-played-the-division-beta?abthid=56cb5ab47ebc59cc6f00000c

Pretty much the entirety of the article, in excerpt form:

"Ubisoft has announced more than 6.4 million players took part in The Division's beta, which ended February 22nd. With so many players, The Division's beta is reportedly the "biggest beta ever for a new game brand on current generation platforms.""

"Players spent an average of five hours in the street of New York City, and two hours in The Dark Zone, the game's PvP arena. Ubisoft reported almost 50% of players turned rogue during online play. Also in the Dark Zone, players extracted over 63,309,800 contaminated items."

"The Division's open beta started on February 18 on Xbox One and on February 19 for PlayStation 4 and PC. Players were able to rank up to level eight in normal play, and up to 12 in the Dark Zone. However, player progress isn't carried over when the game releases on March 8."

"After the game launches, Ubisoft expects to release three paid expansions for The Division. It's underground expansion will let players explore the "uncharted underworld" of the city, and its survival expansion will focus on surviving in "a very hostile environment." Ubisoft hasn't detailed its third expansion."

    "uncharted underworld"

I am sure that NYC department of transport will have some objections to that =P

Or the people in charge of the sewer system.

Still it is a fun game. Maybe not for everyone but fun none the less in my opinion.

This have been a good conversation

They are already touting their paid expansions. The base game better be big enough and have enough content to justify the $60 bucks before expanding the game with more paid content.

It was a fun experience but I have no intention of playing it. I was invited to test it on my PS4 and on my PC. When you are inviting the masses to test on two major consoles that have over 50 million in sales, no fees and no attachments, and then also inviting PC users to beta test for free, you are going to get tons of free testers lol. Congrats on the big numbers though, it is impressive.

It depends from which retailer you are buying.

For example From Gamesplanet i got Gold Edition for 46 pounds = 67$. And Gold edition includes a Seasonal Pass.

The PC version is cheaper for sure.  I would have bought it on the PC but I almost always get multiplayer shooters on console when available.

Was looking forward to the game but did not buy into any Beta nonsense, too many games doing that gimmick.
Personally i am not supporting the game "yet" not enough game there to warrant the price,by tiem they sell DLC that is when the game will actually be worth it but i am not spending 70+DLC"s 100+ for a complete game.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I definitely understand that sentiment, I paid the 100 for the game plus the DLC content.  I don't know when those will be released, but I think the base game will be worth the cost.  I mean I spent 2 entire weekends playing through pretty much the same content, locked at level 8.  The only thing that would kill it for me would be the end game gameplay being extremely unbalanced.

I'm hoping that isn't the case,  which is the only thing that really worries me.  The additional stuff they plan on,  its unfortunate that they have things "coming down the pipeline" these days when these features should usually be part of the release game, but not buying it now ends up being more expensive later.

Not enough game?  Considering max level was 8, most features were turn off, most of the world was not accessible I'm curious to know how you came to this conclusion?

Gotta say, it was actually very fun during the beta. Tough too, though a lot of it was just getting used to the mechanics.

Played a few hard missions with matchmaking, and that was really fun. Took a good amount of team work. They also found a good balance of making enemies hard, but not making them take forever to kill (assuming you can aim like an average person) so things get tedious and boring.

But who knows how that'll go later in the game.

Didn't make it to the Dark Zone since unfortunately I was working a lot over the days the beta was available.

Hopefully you played it enough to know whether or not the game is worth the buy for you.

For those on the XB1 version looking for a team, send me a message and I can add you.  I'd be happy to have more teammates when the game goes live.

I'll definitely be buying. Seems fun enough based on what I played that, assuming they've not been lying about how much content will be available, it should keep me busy for good amount of time. At least enough time to justify the price of the game.
