Considering your preferences, Rise of Agon is going to be more of what you're looking for.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
Let it die already ffs it's dead JIm don't bring this crap back ever!!!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there is certainly an audience out there for the original version of the game that would like to see development go in a way that is not Unholy Wars; otherwise we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
Darkfall lives on, with or without you.

Game was really intense. I'm worried though since it failed because of mismanagement. Isn't having two teams working on separate versions of the same game a recipe for more mismanagement and failure?
It's like Adventurine found one last way to fuck up the game before leaving the scene.
Never got into the Darkfall in the past and will not this time around either. But I am happy that it will be in service again for all the Darkfall hardcore fans out there.

Most likely, only one of them will thrive. The other one will die.

Seems very possible, however they both have radically different visions and both communities seem to be passionate about one or the other. I, for one, am looking very much forward to New Dawn whereas I have very little interest in Rise of Agon. However, if only one succeeds I will play that one.
I also have to say, after having Aventurine at the helm for so long, having two competing developers is pretty exciting. I imagine they will motivate each other on to succeed.
i prefer new dawn's empire building style with alignment than rise. but i will play both on GPs
cannot wait!!
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
Currently Playing EVE, ESO
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.
yea it sound negative but i think the game is a flop anyway. First runtrough died because it was a bad game, second runtrough will die because it is a bad game.
Also those people that played the first are older again and have other responsibilities now- doubt it cather many new players. It looks just freaking bad in all directions.
The game will do well if it's close to the original in alot of ways. I can't see how people are getting upset they aren't completely changing the game. That's what UW did and nobody wanted it, hence why the game died off almost instantly after UW. There was still a small community for the original before they shut it down, but if the new teams manage to update the game more often than Adventurine did then it should do a hell of a lot better. They would say a patch is coming out soon, then give all these cool details about it, 3 years later delay it again, then a small patch fixing the UI would come out. It was an odd development schedule and it never seemed to actually get the game updates.
Game failed already multiple times on multiple releases in different continents. It looks even worse now that more years have passed and many other sandbox games are out now that are far superior in every way. Game needs to just die for good already, why are devs wasting their time on it again? They dont learn fro the past I guess, their loss, they will fail again.
All games out there are just the same, played archlord as my first mmo, than darkfall online, played it from 3 months of launch to it closed down after that i played darkfall unholywars for 2-3 months and it was just a shit ghost of DFO.
After that i have been trying every mmo i could get my hands on think im up to 200 mmos now and every one is just the same game with the same boring way of playing lvl up from 1 to 70 and then end game, every game!
Bring back my darkfall i put almost 4000 hrs in and lets save this stupid mmo market from all these shit themepark/sandbox mmos with there shit combat/class system

What will Rise have then if not empire building? Any1 that can easily just say exactly what differs between the 2 games? I read bout both games and sounds good and similar to me.
Damn what is the difference got any links to the two games that show the differences, would like the game to stay as original as possible.
DnD - more sandbox, more RvR, better alignment, local banks, no fast traveling, watchtowers, territory control, title system so you can avoid to be everything and learn everything, limited crafting professions to let crafters have a profit and be a full playstyle, new siege system, death on endless bunny hoppings, ARAC clan penalties, etc... a full RvR sandbox empire building.
RoA - more vanilla Darkfall, so no limits of skills and crafting professions (everyone can learn everything), meanignless alignment system FFa pvp kill on sign everything move but your clan, global bank, fast traveling, a huge pvp fps arena with sieges.
If you like hardcore pvp where alignment don't matter much RoA is the game for you, if you want a full sandbox experience where alignment matter, a RvR approach and full landlord/citizens territorial control with a complete player driven economy and dedicated crafters and local market hubs, then DnD is the game for you.
2 games for 2 completely different crowds, some old vets cals DnD the "carebear" version of the game but i disagree, the game is still hardcore but with pvp, pve and crafting perfectly balanced and not where pvp is the only thing to do.

Thx for this. Sounds like Dawn is the one for me at least.
The original big Darkfall world was one of the most well designed seamless worlds in a MMO, that's another thing AV messed up remaking Darkfall lite and shrinking the world. You're not meant to travel across the map in 30 mins to raid the enemy on the other side of the world. There really were player formed regions for certain Alliances. It played to the the tribal nature of humans. Fun combat, great world and player politics and loyalty to your clan, reputations were truly made. Traveling had to be planned for raiding.
The only flaw was how the siege system worked for player cities, everybody would turn up to a fight between two enemies planned siege to farm and lag feast would issue, that's another thing, the net code needs work too. This is where the battle line will be between these two licenses of DF now, who gets it out first, flesh it out in a timely fashion wins the subs, and first out the door gets the advantage, if they fail to keep the pace, the other company has a chance. That's what AV failed to do, flesh the original DF out, address the Jack of all trades on skills by adding a cap to make a build UO style. Instead they lied about DF having a big upgrade, when in fact they knew it would be relaunch of a new product that wouldn't carry over all the time investment people had made.
Also, that wolf race in the original was at a disadvantage in PVP because of hit box beteween the races. They were going to add a four legged run mode for the wolf race by AV never did, stating they couldn't balance it, it would be nice if one of these companies added that feature to the wolf race. All that needed is a timer to enter and exit four legged run mode. The Wolf models were designed to be based on this race trait.

Game is pretty terrible and probably always will be doomed but I haven't seen a single game let alone a current sandbox that can match DF combat and thats accounting for the fact even in its best iteration it could use a lot of improvement.
I love reading the comments about failed gamed (multiple failures) and all the excuses people give as to why they failed.
You dont fail a half dozen times for any reason other than the game isnt good or the concept isnt good, or both.
All these full PvP with no rules games have ZERO, I repeat ZERO chance of making money and guys that make them are too myopic or stupid to realize that or just think that they will somehow be the first to make a full PvP (hardcore) game that will actually make money.
Like I have said multiple times once the next generation of loser failures all get released and flop maybe these guys will get it.
Its already an extremely niche group of players interested in them anyway, and most of that niche is in their late 40s now and playing first person shooters, and the only reason they might consider an MMO like these is because of nostalgia or their twitch isnt as fast as younger people playing FPS games and they cant compete.
Just STOP (re)making the same failures over and over and over again. It is the very definition of insanity.

So why people like yourself complain that the mmorpg market is stagnating? That there are wow clones everywhere?
Games like Dakrfall: New Dawn, Crowfall, Lif and Revival at least try to make something different from the redundant brawlers (brawlers because all these new games are a solo instanced experience with quest hub and the same content recycled).
These sandbox will be niche but at least they refuse to make compromises to please everyone with a p2w cashgrab shop.
