ONE...... that the PC version can be better than the console version and thus push the limits of the PC
TWO.....that the objective is to have the same experinece accross both platforms.
I am addressing number TWO only. In which from time to time the MS fan boys pontificate and if they were smart they would NOT mention number TWO and only number ONE.
And why the hell would anyone want to do it? Why would MS or anyone else in their right mind want to stop me from wanting to upgrade my rig?
Keep those wheels turning.
I am telling you right now point blank that fanboys are saying EXACTLY that. would you like me to find where in this very thread it was stated? and as far as possible its TOTALLY possible....FPS lock kinda helps
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Because most PC gamers, on Steam anyway, play on computers less powerful than current gen consoles.
Because I can play Forza on a console. Because I can play Xenoblade and Mario Kart 8 on a console. Because I can play Kingdom Hearts 3 soon on a console. Because I can play the Uncharted series on a console. Because I can play Madden on a console. Because I can play The Last of Us on a console. Because I can play Bloodborne on a console.
You know what? Nevermind. This list could go on and on and on. If you do not like consoles fine. Some of us just like games. I am platform agnostic. I own all the consoles and a gaming PC. I should care less what anyone else does or prefers.
are you SURE about that?
I ask because check this out
steam = 125 million accounts PCs in the world = 1 billion in 2008 predicted to now be 2 billion.
So when you gather numbers are you 100% positive that its PCs used for gaming or all PCs without exception because that can radically make the numbers look wrong

and another thing (so three negatives in total on 'windows store' for me)
When developers think about making a game I honestly want them focused on this:
not this:
Says the man who's all about VR
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
to bad you fail to even know why your comment is dead on.
hint. VR tech and useablity > just PC
Sean
Face it... Your original comment was just plain stupid and it was made without thinking. Don't worry about it, we all put our foot in our mouths from time to time.

my 'first statement' which one?
not sure but if you are referring to controllers vs keyboard I dont agree. I know you must thing a controller is a evolution of better gaming but I dont and if creating a Windows Store game requires the developer to think about how the game will work on a controller BEFORE he can think of how it will work on VR.
Windows Store games are going to suck

They just need to be careful here.. some games.. PC players will have an advantage.. and if there is no way to protect against it, it would be very bad.
@maskedweasel I agree, games like COD or battlefront, well any FPS game generally pc gamers will have an advantage.

Never happen globally, maybe in a few individual instances like E-sport applications. What makes you think that Developers would even want this?. Wherever there is a market it will be filled. Corporations like Amd, Intel and Nvidia will not just roll over and play dead. Tech will always be pushed forward.

Maybe in a totalitarian society
1. the reason I think developers would want this is because Microsoft reps SAID IT. Microsoft themselves as well as their fan boy drones have said 'experience parity' do you know what that means? Again to make my point clear for the 3rd time IN THIS THREAD someone said this is the objective. I am addressing THAT STATEMENT.
2. Its totally technically possible.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

What do you see as the biggest potential growth area for PC gaming? Spencer: Unifying gaming experiences across all devices,
There will be massive pressure from MS to developers to ensure that their games can be played seamlessly on both PC and XBox
here is the comment made on this thread I am refering to.
'Seemless' to me means the PC version is not going to have more keyboard control options that the xbox cant handle, it means I as a PC gamers am not going to have a better view distance than what is on xbox.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Based on those numbers the current gen consoles are far more powerful than the average Steam players PC. Period. Those are facts. From Valve themselves. Why do you think Farmville is played by so many people? Or games like Stardew Valley can beat a game like Division on Steam? It can be played on a huge variety of systems. Just like Minecraft.
ok...just making sure my mistake

Silly me, I thought the story and thread are about "true cross platform game play" What kind of a tangent are you trying to go off on?

UWP realtes to Windows but more specifically the Windows Store. One can still make a game on Windows without UWP which is why its important to make the distinction between Windows games and Windows Store games when talking about UWP which basically we are

What do you see as the biggest potential growth area for PC gaming? Spencer: Unifying gaming experiences across all devices,
I failed to read where they were going to stifle PC's to 1080p and 30fps.
Unify has a more expansive definition than what you're trying to insinuate and nowhere in that interview does it forward your point of view.
if you are looking for them to explicitly state that I think your at a loss.
what does the quote mean to you? the quote has meaning, lets try to figure out what that meaning is shall we?
as a reminder here are the two quotes I am refering to. I would like to understand what each of them mean:

Well from my perspective it's quite simple really.
If Microsoft only offer products in the Windows store that stifle my computer to 1080p, 30fps and are only playable with an Xbox controller, I don't think I'll be interested in any of the products they'll have on offer.

Quote 2: What do you see as the biggest potential growth area for PC gaming?
Spencer: Unifying gaming experiences across all devices,
1: There are already games that play seamlessly on both. So does that mean that developers who only release titles for Xbox will be pressured to also release those games for PC?
Can be construed positively as well as negatively.

I don't believe I'm alone.
1. to me the two quotes I provided suggest exactly that.
2. UWP REQUIRES (from my understanding) that a game created for Windows also work on xbox so of course the contoller will have to be considered by the developer. Now I understand that is not the same thing as 'work only with controller' but it does seem to suggest from the quotes that this is what they want

1 You're a conspiracy theorist
2 Skilled developers already consider both and very skilled develops consider even more devices.
