Particularly when its done simply to assign a biased and/or jaded view of the game. Proof of this is that when the Mediah patch was released in KR, it was released with the +15 - +20 enhancements, yet it was not done in ours.
If you can't compete because there is a level and gear disparity, but then an alternative is given to alleviate that level and gear disparity and make level and gear a non issue, according to you, then the fact that a player is still not skilled enough to win is still the game's fault?
Quoting on these forums is awful first off. In regards to the top quote, that's not true. KR didn't get the +16-+20 gear until the Media Part 2 patch. We haven't gotten that yet.
In regards to the second quote, I'm not saying it's anybody's fault. I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm just stating facts, so that anybody who gets to that point knows what to expect. I don't want players thinking that if they merchant their way to +15 gear they will suddenly be as good as everybody else, because that will only result in disappointment. I'm merely trying to give people a clear view of the game, so they know exactly what to expect once they get there and can prepare for that situation accordingly, instead of coming back later and crying that they got roflstomped and they didn't know it was coming.
Is it me or they're really trying to sell this game here?
Its you.
Is it so hard to believe that a vast majority of people are seeing the quality, and game play value in BDO, and are actually enjoying the game? Are its crowded servers not enough? Unfortunately, you are in the crowd that is on the outside looking in, and you all are not liking it lol
It's one thing for an article to espouse the virtues of a great game. It's another for an article to admit there are flaws and then basically say "But ignore that and buy it anyways" (since BDO is a B2P game) like this article is saying.
Last paragraph of the article again for reference
"Is power creep and issue in Black Desert? Certainly—but don't make the mistake of treating it the same way you would in a typical MMORPG. There's plenty of factors at play that make power creep not such an easy symptom to diagnose, and while Black Desert is certainly having its fair share of growing pains, you also shouldn't let that fear stop you from enjoying what is otherwise an extremely interesting MMORPG."
I think we should be appreciative of the fact that the writer was honest in that regard. Level and gear disparity is an issue in the game for those who enjoy competitive PvP. There is no point in denying it. Which is kind of a misnomer because if what you are really looking for is competitive PvP, you'd do a lot better finding it other MMO genres that do it much better , than you would in an MMORPG. But that's an argument for another day. What the article points out is that although level and gear disparity is an issue, it is not as impacting in some areas of PvP play as it is in others. I think this is helpful information to many players who have not experienced PvP game play in BDO yet.
So what... Its the nature of this game... And everyone knew that when they started ...
I dont understand the complaints at all... Really, i dont...
To explain it, I think it goes something like this. Complaints are the nature of the game. Every game will have players who complain about it. Maybe you will agree, maybe you won't but you can bet there will be complaints made.

the vast majority of people "coming back" (wherever that is...) are going to be people who knew it was coming and still don't like the system because it rewards botters and neets.
what they might now be aware of is how intimidating it actually ISN'T. +15 is very little effort compared to other korean borne mmorpgs if you know what you're doing. (figuring out fail stacks), unless you really REALLY want to min max, getting your end game gear is massively easy to begin with.

Those who merchant their way up and lose a lot will do like a lot of players do, cry for a nerf because ,(fill in the class) is OP. Then the nerf cycle usually starts.

Best I can say is, all the article did for me was convince me that the pvp is even more imbalanced than I thought.
If you want to get past 50, expect to get ganked over and over again by your so called balanced pvp. If you can't figure out how imbalanced that is, I feel sorry for you.

I think most people playing don't really care about the balance. It has been a while since we've had an MMO that actually allows us to work to become stronger, both in PvP and PvE.
Every game doesn't need to be balanced, we have enough of those already.
(oh, and you're not attacked 24/7 at lvl 50+, there are some pretty large drawbacks to becoming a criminal in this game)
PVP is unbalanced, strip away gear 100%, put players with naked, or exact same gear and watch sorceress, and arches evade forever the game is about spamming evades to win.
Over-All if you are looking for hard-core PVP the best game is Dark Fall still, if looking for other aspects then BDO can be fun but I am not playing now because of the cash shop being fully pay 2 enjoy and how expensive it is.

Lol, jez, sorry for not playing your game, I'm not very interested in it, true, I don't hate it either, I'm just a reader here, and all these articles seem a bit biased to me, that is all.

It's hard to not be biased when it comes to BDO. They didn't aim for everyone when they made this game. It certainly won't appeal to everyone, but those that it does effect probably will be playing it for years to come.
The MMO has a charm that MMO's haven't had for years. It's different, and that's okay.

Like I was totally intersted in it wasted $100 buying the game not even playing it anymore first the XingCode3 thing until I found out it didn't install itself to C:\windows anymore, and now the game is garbage, the best thing about the game is character customization, and such that is all no other aspects I have never seen before in another MMO, over-all its Pay 2 Enjoy I am not playing Arche Age with 10 accounts will get you more than this game with 1 account behind a big cosmetic / pay 2 enjoy paywall.
So to summarize, your apologizing for unbalanced PvP.
An MMORPG naturally has grind, and applying players progress to PvP is great, but they could employ a variety of competitive scenarios and features that allow weaker characters to compete.
Simply saying, "don't be like that, here's a concession", isn't persuading anyone... At All.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, if they get angry, they'll be a mile away... and barefoot.
Top 1% are there now, in a week( if not already) it will be 2%, then 5%, then 10%. In a few months anyone who wants will be in the top tier of gear given they play the game. There is always going to be better groups better players with better gear, although considering those players got there within 30 days of launch means anyone else can do so as well in a short amount of time. Also when it comes to PVP 1v1 is a non factor in a game like this. It is about groups and guilds and in that context true power is spread across many players as well as the political dimension. When it comes down to it all PVP is unbalanced, it is about prospering in spite of the odds not always being in your favor.
"Sieges are also going to be chaotic messes, with dozens of guilds all fighting at the same time—creating ample opportunity for alliances, backstabbing, and deception."
Sounds like ample opportunity for video card and CPU chugging as well. I have a hard enough time in Velia on a GTX 960 4 GB 128-bit, 8 GB RAM, AMD FX-6300 6-core.

Yeah, a GTX960 with 4 GB ram is pushing it with BDO. Its not a problem unless you want to play it on the highest settings though. BDO is exponentially more fun to play on the highest settings though. On the highest settings the world is awe-inspiring. The detail is incredible. Especially when it rains and storms. I can't get enough of it myself.
