I'm enjoying it. It's really grindy, but that's the nature of this type of MMO. It has things I don't fully understand yet, so I cannot say whether or not it is P2W. But if you enjoy isometric Korean games with grind and a lot of choices with classes and things like that, it's pretty damn fun. I've been pretty happy with the way it plays, there is quite a few people so the servers will lag occasionally but it isn't too often for me.
So far it's been fun. This is a great game for min/max'ers. There are a lot of choices on how to build your character (it remains to be seen whether most of them are viable at high levels). I don't find any more/less grindy than the average MMORPG. I'm currently an Archer C3 and so far the boss fights have been tough, which is great, I was afraid the game would be too easy.
Lag is a big problem for me. NPC's sometimes take 2-3 minutes to respond. Adding stat points and skills takes 15-20 seconds to register.
Since I'm playing this as a purely PvE game, I don't care about what's in the cash shop. I'm in no hurry to get to max level.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own. -- Herman Melville
There is mouse movement along with the classical mmo-keyboard-mouse setup, I guess you didn't open the optionpanel yet.
I can also map my xbox controller just fine...
I started playing from minute 1 on Klapeida, but that server was overrun by people and there was lag and queue's. I moved to Fedimian after that and had no lag or queue's since then. Lag is countered if you block goldseller-spam in time (their spam actually make you lag)
What you guys forgot to mention is that the company behind this game changed the whole game since CBT to a DEMO, you need to pay 20$ to actually be able to trade 30 times max / month, along with many other restrictions that a normal game would take for granted. All these restrictions were not here during CBT, so the company is just moneyhungry. Some elements in the shop appear to be slightly pay2win.
The game is very nice though, apart from the paywall.
I only wish it was like it was during CBT, best game ever, but now...
This game is a lot of fun, plain and simple. There's no extremely complicated or in-depth systems outside of class advancement but the coombat is a fun. My one big complaint would be that it's grindy....but I have fun doing it do it doesn't bug me.
I like it so far, bought early access. It is grindy, but in a good way and similar to Ragnarok Online. Alot of classes to play. there are some cons though
1. severe server lag and frame rate issues 2. Gold spamming,I mean a lot of gold spamming,it actually makes the game lag and chat is useless,no spam filters 3. Did I mention a lot of gold sellers? 4. trading and player markets are stuck behind a pay wall 5. Bots, bots and more Bots farming bosses and other mobs
The game is a lot of fun despite its problems. if they fix these issues, this game will be a huge success
Thank you all for the honest and detailed answers, an often overlooked element when asking for opinions of a game. I really love the style, and the complexity of classes. I personally do not worry too much about it being grindy, as most ARPG's are.
Was checking some reviews / comments on steam and found out there are quite many negative ones (overall assessment being "mixed" which is pretty bad). The complaints are often related to an aggressive F2P model. Is it true many significant elements of the game are hidden by a paywall?
Was tempted to try it, but after reading some of the top comments on steam, I no longer want to.
I would take reviews with a grain of salt. If it's f2p, best to try it. Many people tend towards negative, and negative people tend to be more vocal.
Now that the game is launched, it is odd that I see no one discussing this game.
Does anyone have any opinions? Is it good? Bad? Mediocre? P2W? Grindy?
Help a guy out here
Sorry for a wall of text.
Game hasn't launched, its in 'Early Access' going into 'Open Beta' and I would use the word Beta heavily here, yes many people have pointed out server issues and bugs.
P2W? no but the major issue is if you like to make alts or you play crafting characters/trade characters, as tokens are needed for larger storage, transferring items to alts and getting the most out of the market place (i think market takes 30% cut to none token users), are they needed? no and to be fair if your playing for the trade, crafting and multiple alts then your most likely a dedicated player who would pay for this type of game anyway.
But don't let those things put you off there is a fun game in there, to be fair when you start out it feels a little awkward with controls (there are many keyboard/mouse and controller set ups to choose) but you will soon get the hang of it and once you start choosing your first class path the customisation quickly becomes huge.
One of the best things is the Devs/team listen to its players, we the players changed the way they handled early access regarding time frame and items, we the players also managed to get EU servers and recently an Oceanic server,
I would recommend this game to players who
Played Ragnarok Online
Like APRGs and the grind that comes with them
Have friends/guildies or like to play in groups, ofcourse solo is viable but the real fun (like back in RO days) is the party play to grind/dungeon run with other players
Like that Asian aesthetic along with its quirks/sounds and inevitable cheeky panty shots of certain female class costumes
Making so much noise you dont know when to listen.
The game isn't bad. the lag now seems to have settled a bit so its not too much of an issue, the only problems right now is the trade restriction in my opinion. I've been playing with a friend of mine and I've been getting drops that are better suited for his class than mine and i can't trade it to him and vice versa.
Trade is available to you as like everyone says. Either Buy a token with RL money or you can grind enough money to buy one off of the Auction house. Free to Play Players do get his with a 30% fee for putting stuff on the Auction house and you are restricted to 1 item on the AH at a time and I believe token users get 5 at a time and the fee they get hit with is 10%.
with that said the only big issue I have with the game is aiming for collections. some collections are just way to rare when farming or if attempting to buy one off of the AH its way too expensive. ( If i remember correctly i've been trying to collect Vubbe Fighter Blood and just finally keeping track of how many Vubbe fighter's I've killed i'm around 0/450. Not to mention they are a pain in the ass too find cause extremely high level players farm for it as well as people botting for it because it can be used to craft a really nice glove).
The grinding aspect of it isn't really that bad. at least for me it hasn't been but then again i haven't gotten to far. i'm only like Lv 63 and i've hardly had to grind for levels. Only been grinding for Collections which are really nice to have completed in my opinion.
Don't the the faults of the game affect your choice on trying it playing it. A short download of it and install while your sleeping will save time on that. Just try the game yourself and give it your own opinion.
Also I use a controller vs Keyboard and mouse and I've yet to have an issue using my controller.
Pretty boring. I went for the Ragnarok nostalgia but it didn't last. Game plays dated and the class system is meh at best. The combat gets old and that's literally the only thing worth doing in this game, grinding mobs pointlessly. I actually went over to BDO and am having a surprisingly much better time despite thinking I would hate the game after I dismissed it in beta.
Someplayers already did infinite money cheat... i see no reason to play already open servers cause of this. Maybe just maybe i'll play later if they open new servers after they fix the bug.
In terms of progression, it's kinda like Zelda + Diablo, where you're killing everything and exploring everything for all sorts of stat boosts and other dohickies. It's actually quite fun if you're into that sort of thing.
Zelda+Diablo is the closest way I can describe the gameplay too although even that doesn't fit very well. Don't look for anything deeper than that, though, but if you just want that, it's pretty neat. Goes F2P in 2 days IIRC so you can try it for yourself if you'd like.
haven't really been following it much till official launch today. Is there still a paywall to trade/use auction? and if so is it still capped and x number of times per month? If so, that might push me off the fence if I pay and can only trade/use auction a certain number of times per month...
Now that the game is launched, it is odd that I see no one discussing this game.

I've been playing for about a month now.
I haven't been this addicted to a game since vanilla WoW. That said, it has a ton of issues. Firstly the people running it seem either very inexperienced or lazy. For instance F2P just launched and you can't even buy the subscription token or cash because they weren't ready with their own store. More info here:
It reminds me of alot of games. Diablo grind, Valkyrie Profile art, Secret of mana esque, tons of anime/JRPG music, most things tradable, infinite character builds not overly cookie cutter, explorers paradise with about a billion finished areas.
On the flip side it doesn't use multicore processing so AMD CPU users are screwed performance wise....... Very few settings to improve FPS/stuttering so it compounds the multicore issue even more. Setting up keybinds is a nightmare on ToS, as are figuring out all the behind the scenes mechanics the game never tells you. For instance you can never respec yet they give you the worst class/ability descriptions ever. So you end up making enormous decisions on half assed information. Looking up decent builds online is absolutely mandatory if you don't want to waste hundreds of hours rerolling.
I'll answer other questions, I'm currently level 230 out of 280.
Loot is based on damage done IN THE GROUP. So a support character like Chronomancer can almost guarantee his entire group gets loot. Mostly just comes into play with world bosses once the F2P KS fest dies down.

If it's free then what do you have to lose by trying it @cortex666? Find out for yourself if the restrictions are too much

I wouldn't say it's worth buying anything above that though, better off waiting 2 weeks for the F2P launch imo.
the game is ok, it's probably one of the grindiest one so far in the past 2 years of MMO that i played,
basically all you do is explore every map until it's 100% and you do the Quest and side quest,
you won't be doing the GvG before you are at least lv 200, so from level 1 to 200 is basically full quest and grind.
there isn't many feature yet in the game except quests and dungeons,
so far i liked it because i just wants to get to rank 7 of my Job ( whic requires you to be lv 250+ at least ? )
as it is now, there are lots of bots, gold sellers..
this game, either you like it or you hate it, i would recommend wait to play the game for quite a while.
So What Now?
