After many weeks of shock and horror at the sight of the in-game Black Desert Online store prices, I thought it might be worth asking the paying public (that’s you lot) as to whether or not you’ve parted with your hard earned cash.

P.S I always wanted pretend to be a whale and this post has the perfect setting.
- auto loot is important but you need pets to do it
- shabby 1 or 2 outfits unless you pay
- permanent dyes are cash shop only and rng
- weight/inventory is important, need to use shop to avoid annoyance
- Pay for advantage outfits, like the treant suit you mention, in the shop. Also costumes with stat boosts only from the shop- typical (but still frowned upon) in a f2p model but not b2p
- Pay for immortality available in the shop with Ellon's tears.
I want to buy the game and support sandbox MMOs, but I can't buy into this kind of monetization model. And if it's this bad at release, you can rest assured it's only going to get worse.
If a company is going to make me wear tattered rags for 50 levels unless I pay, there's literally no telling what they will do in the future.

The fact it is B2P and quite inexpensive at that means I want to support the game's development and keep it going, so happy to spend a 'sub' in the shop each month.
If I am enjoying a game then I usually throw money toward the company as game development/jobs don't grow on trees. I'd rather just pay a sub but "there it is".
The only game I couldn't find anything to buy was Elder Scrolls online. There was literally nothing that I wanted in their shop.

That concerns me. That makes it sound more like a p2w instead of btp.
$24 for three pets to get around the (presumably intentional) shoddy looting system, and $29 for an outfit to be on equal footing with others who have it in PvP in seems rather too expensive to me.
I enjoyed the game's early levels, but I resent the high prices of gameplay altering items in the cash shop, to the point that I'm unlikely to continue playing and purchasing the random stuff that catches my eye like I did in Guild Wars 2. The high price of gameplay altering items in the cash shop has also turned away several friends that I've attempted to recruit to come play with me, which in turn has further diminished the game's appeal for me.
I expect they'll likely have a significant sale at some point in the future, once the income from people who were fine with the prices slows down. Maybe I'll take another look at it then.
GAME TIL YOU DIE!!!!
And since I'm a believer in paying for my entertainment I pretty much evaluate what I'm getting vs the price and make my decision based on that.

I haven't bought anything from the cash shop yet. Don't know when/if I will. The pace at which I'm playing the game I don't know when a CS purchase will be necessary. Still have yet to use all my Conquer pack bonuses yet.

I am not sure how much leverage BDO will get with "whales" because you can't buy in game currency with cash (or sell cash shop items for gold in game) like in BnS and other heavy p2w games and there are only a couple of costumes in the cash shop anyway.
The "fallout" from the pricing was probably avoided because it was a non-issue in the first place.
I don't plan on spending more money until both plum and k... (female ninja) come out and then I'll spend some more money to get the 30 day appearance change thing and some more storage.
Everyone focuses on the costumes being overpriced, and they are. But to me worse yet is the pricing on some of the more useful convenience items that I would buy if they weren't so oddly priced.
For example, inventory and warehouse expansions, weight limit increases... they are all per-character. For a game that encourages the use of alts so heavily, that is just silly.
And back to costumes... they are not just pricey they are also ridiculously bound to just one character.
Pets are about the only useful (for looting and other functions) cash shop item that are not character bound although they are server bound.
