I jsut felt that the first expansion took too big of a leap gear wise and kind of trivialized the game...To me each expansion made the game easier and easier and other than top 1% of content it just wasnt challenging.
I think vanilla was the best... mainly because it had the most content and was the most fleshed out... which is no surprise since they spent the most time on it.
TBC was a close second...
WotLK a distant third if you remove the Argent Tournament crap, Flame Leviathan, and the achievements nonsense.
Everything else has been total garbage by comparison.
I liked some of the things the expansions brought, but mostly it's the things that the expansions made irrelevant that made me hate them. Flying mounts was/is the biggest failure point for me. World PvP ended and the game kept taking "features" away with every "feature" added.
However you would be wrong. WotLK was actually the peak for WoW if vanilla was really the best show us the numbers to back it up. I think your rose colored glasses are looking a little foggy.
I enjoyed Vanilla the best. . . HATES TBC and really like Wrath of the Lich King so I am voting for it. The world just shrank too much after the first expansion and especially after Cataclysm. Also starting zones went from a more low power fantasy setting to lasers and motorcycles (I get this is part of the lore. . just not what I like)

Wtf that"s his opinion mate? Jesus. And he isn't questioning whether vanilla was more popular. He's saying how he felt it was better and more enjoyable. Get it?
For me it's Tbc > Wotlk > Vanilla > Mop > Cataclysm > Wod
Tbc is my favorite expansion of all time. From pve side Tbc has the best raid designs in the game. Karazhan is my all time favorite. From pvp side Arena system introduced with this expansion. That was a huge step for me. I loved it.
Wotlk is the close second for me. In my opinion the Lich King is the best boss encounter in WoW. It was an epic experience. Ulduar is an amazing raid. And Woltk has my favorite map in this game. And it is the Grizzly Hills. Man... That soundtrack is just beautiful. Everything about this map is amazing.
And I want to say this. A lot of people hated Mop because of pandarens etc. But for me it was a very solid expansion. After Cataclysm which was a huge disappointment, this expension was a huge success for me. Story was good, maps were amazing, some world bosses were very good, Throne of Thunder was an amazing raid etc... It is a very underrated expansion.
TBC because of the hours spent in karazhan, at this point WoW wasn't a solo game, you had to do the chain to even get in the place, and some parts were hard the hours spent trying to down prince with my guild were probably the most fun ive had in any mmo, the tears at wiping on a bad infernal drop when prince was like 1-2% then they slowly started to change wow from a good quality mmo to a good quality lobby game
To me, it was WotLK that I enjoyed and played the longest. I loved the questing and addition of the machinima cinematics, and how Arthas was constantly in your face and challenging you throughout. Which obviously felt way more menacing when you couldn't really solo those quests at launch.
I also have very fond memories of The Argent Tournament. Was pretty fun, and it was cool watching the place change as the story progressed, and the dailies were fun, well, for a while anyway. lol
And when running the dungeons prior to ICC, like the one where Arthas is chasing your group down the hallway, conjuring ice walls and enemies with a limited time to kill your way through before Arthas caught up. That was likely the most epic thing I've experienced in the game.
I didn't end up finishing off Arthas 'til years later, but still.
Wrath of the Lich King for me. Not the system in the game that was in the game back then. More on hte Enemy feel like the world was more in danger then other pass or new xpack.

I voted for the later for the sole fact that i got to face Arthas.

TBC and WotLK were personal faves
With reforging, the most amount of skills ever in the game, snapshotting, all of the CDs, pre potting, ect.
I did everything in MoP from top 0.5% PvP, to #1 raiding guilds. 160 Days played just on my 1 Druid by the end of the expansion, and I had 9 90s.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
