I dont think he is going to be making anyone his B***H this time...

It would be like Luke, if Luke had gotten wasted after his dad died and ran around killing Jedi himself. . . but someone still remembered what he did a long time ago. . in a . . . wait. . maybe that did happen to Luke.
Interested for sure even though one side of my brain is slapping the other for even going there.
...awkward prolonged dramatic pause like the movie. O.o Only makes me think of Star Wars. Ugh and hopefully not ANOTHER 1st person shooter. I guess time will tell. TY

I loved playing all of the old Star Wars first person shooters like Jedi Knight. If they do a remake of that I would be very likely to give it a go if they can keep the same feel.
The site confirms Night Work games is a new developer based in
Galway, Ireland – where the Romeros make their home – and that yes, its
first project is a first-person shooter.
Wondering if Romero still has what it takes? Maybe check out his latest DOOM level, which released after a 21 year drought.
If you’re interested in what Romero’s been up to since Quake – and
indeed, what’s happened to the whole founding id team – why not revisit
our feature on the dissipation of id Software?
I'm thinking no on Star Wars IP seeing as EA holds the rights and just released a shooter. I suppose they could still publish it, but it would cannibalize Battlefront.
Well, hopefully he doesn't Daikatana this one. I guess it depends on how humbling that experience was for him and whether he learned from it.
Daikatana was actually a pretty cool game - beneath the bugfest and the surroundings... But if you ment the whole process, then I agree. That 4-5 years period could go into a Development for dummies manual, as a textbook case of what NOT to do whilst develop a game
Actually it was on both sides, that split was an unfortunate event. Quake 2 was lame, definitely lacked Romero (and even if a cop-out, it was a smart decision to turn Quake 3 into a multiplayer game for the same reason). At the same time Daikatana definitely lacked Carmack, and not only at the coding department, but to tone down Romero's ego (that "bitchy" campaign Talonsin mentioned, for example...).
I'm convinced Daikatana would've been a great game if they continue the original development. Flushing down everything in the toilet, just because idT2 came out and that was the new shiny... very dumb idea. And nothing fueled /backed that up, except his ego "my game should have the best engine out there". They lost several years because of that, and meanwhile idT3 arrived too Not to mention, at the same time the Ravens perfectly presented that a modified older engine can support a well-designed game pretty nicely (Hexen II, and also earlier the first Hexen with Doom engine)
Anyways, that's the past, I'm curious what will they make... played Daikatana a couple months ago when it was on sale on gog.com, but it'd be cool to play a new Romero shooter.
a new First-Person Shooter is being built at Night Work Games Ltd. in Galway, Ireland.
oh wow! a first person shooter! now that is something the industry needs...lol
From John Romero? Yes. Yes we do.
Yeah I am not on board with that. Dont get me wrong I think everyone on the original ID team are super heros of the gaming industry but if I see another FPS game I am going to jump off a cliff (which might please some people I know)
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

So why comment on a thread which is clearly aimed at fans of Carmack and Romero teaming up again to create another FPS?
why comment on any thread?
I am a fan of Carmack and Romero, I watched the video because I am a fan. I then read that its an FPS. which rule in what section of the code of ethics then comes into play that explains to me that I should not have replied?

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

John Romero’s new shooter will be revealed on Monday
After years of working on social and mobile games, the id Software Alumni seems to have made a return to the shooter genre.
Earlier this week, Romero as good as confirmed rumours of an imminent shooter reveal, and now there’s this teaser video. It ends by promising a reveal on Monday, April 25 and directs viewers to the Night Work Games website.
The site confirms Night Work games is a new developer based in Galway, Ireland – where the Romeros make their home – and that yes, its first project is a first-person shooter.
That Romero is making a return to this scene is far from surprising. He’s been talking about getting back to it since at least March 2012, and a month later confirmed he had put together a plan for a shooter with MMO elements – something that seemed far more astounding in the pre-Destiny and The Division era. He even said he had started work on a new shooter back in August 2014. A month later he was back again, talking about as yet unexplored opportunities in the shooter genre.Wondering if Romero still has what it takes? Maybe check out his latest DOOM level, which released after a 21 year drought.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Guess we'll know soon enough
