How any developer can be that naive to accept anything the client sends to it, is incredible.  Whoever the network programmers are they have no clue what they are doing.  Once people realize how easy it is to cheat the developer can kiss any DLC they develop goodbye, no one is going waste money on a very broken game.

What a complete waste of money.

I haven't been playing because it grew boring pretty quickly. My work friend has been playing, though, and he was telling me it kinda sucks with all the issues and that I'm "not missing much" by not playing. But I think that was more about bugs and stuff from the first big patch. Though that was also around when he reached level 30 and started getting more into the DZ.

Hmm. Oh well, it's too bad if it ends up going belly-up, but I can't say I'm really gonna stress about it.

Disappointing. Sounds like the guy in the video is offhandedly doing a promo for the cheat software, as well.

I'm just playing through the single-player mode. I will stay away from pvp. It doesn't look like this will ever get sorted.

Edit: I kind of regret paying $60 now. But at least I didn't buy the season pass.

You would think a company like Ubisoft would know better than to do something like this by now. Guess they havent learned from the past at all.

Felt pretty much the same. Had fun for about a week. Cleared all the the missions, hit 30, played in the DZ for a few days and ran dailies... then didnt even feel like playing. Could have been a much better game, but unfortunately it was only half-baked and needs a lot more content / variety to remain interesting. One of those games that COULD be really good after they release multiple updates / DLCs, but not going to wait & pay more for DLCs that add things that should have been part of the base games when there are already established games that have those things and probably done better.

I've been seeing what appears to be just bad or not thought out programming in a lot of new games.  What the hell is going on?

OMG developers these days are terrible its been lot of years since Cheat Engine was any good for any mmo how we got here? no idea ......
Maybe its because of influx of cheap mmo ? Cheap monkey coding to save on project Idk but its terrible

I didn't think this game would last long any way. Tom clancy has another game coming out Called Wild Lands. Wild lands is going to be the main focus and the division will be left behind smh..

Again, the issue is only for the PC version though.. that's a very small number of players in comparison to the console versions.  It might not make it past a year on PC.. but... it will still be pretty successful on consoles.

Well, worst case scenario - they'll simply focus on developing the PvE zones instead of the Dark Zone. Not exactly a great solution, but what the game really needs is more content.

I'm sure there are hackers running around, but I've yet to encounter any sign of it in my 80 hours of play. Sure, I don't live in the Dark Zone - but I've ranked to 40, so I've spent quite a few hours there.

Despite what this "expert" says - I'm going to have to see more evidence of a pure client-trusted model before I believe a company like this would be that ignorant of how things work.

That said, maybe they simply don't really care about the PC version and it was a calculated decision.

I capped in 6 days was in all gold in 8 days, 100% completion of base and all extra content in 9 days and quit on 10th day. Game was boring as hell.

Oh and like an idiot I bought it on both the pc and ps4 and it sucks on both of them. Back playing Destiny and FO4 and a little Banner Saga 2

And this is important to mention in an MMO forum? The Division is not an MMO.

Seems to be a trend over the last decade with pvp games and cheaters, then again also dating back to online gaming since the dawn.

I have doubts the game will shutdown because of cheating, most games haven't, only dwindled in populations while the banhammer hits the cheaters as well.

    Its only problem on PC

I think for most of these companies - PC is afterthought

I think what's strange to me is the vocal nature of this backlash.

I didn't expect much from Division, and I had only a passing interest. But after trying the beta - I felt it would be a nice cooperative experience for me and my GF - and it has been.

We've played it for 80 hours or so - and we're steadily gearing up. It's very enjoyable - and it's also incredibly beautiful.

Does it have issues? For sure.

Is it a miracle? Far from it.

But was it worth the 50$ or whatever? Definitely - and then some.

Why the massive outrage? Not necessarily around here - but I visit a lot of sites, and the general attitude seems to be a hateful one. It's just another game and you had a bit of fun.

Maybe it'll get better - maybe it won't.

Anyway, just my two cents on the matter.

That would be my guess too. They might have designed it for consoles, thought that the client is save and then did a PC version of it. And when the topic of cheats came up they decided to say "we fix it later". But why should they fix it? They already have the money.

Never thought I'd see an AAA online game in 2016 which can be easily broken with cheat engine.

I was talking to a buddy of mine today that works on Gw2 at anet and he was telling me the general consensus nowadays is the mmorpg is dead. Companies now are shifting towards instant cash made instead of risking gambles long term. (we were debating the success or failure of camelot unchained being a sub model). My point being is we got into the subject of labor and most companies are rushing games out and using their marketing companies to spin the rest for more short term gains and cutting a lot of corners trying to save overhead. These two games are sounding like a prime example of both. Rush the products out cutting corners to finish things fast to limit the risk of the games flopping etc.

When I play the Division - the last thing on my mind is that it's a rushed cash-grab. Way too much effort for such a game.

To me, the original Destiny release was much less of a wholesome experience overall.

Division has great potential and the Dark Zone is NOT the kind of feature you put into your game if you don't care. It's a major pain in the ass for any developer to have a PvP zone with loot drops from players.

Nah, gamers are just incredibly entitled these days. They expect the world and then some for their 50$. They want months of content even if you play 16 hours of every day - and they want everything working perfectly at launch.

If you want to look at cheap cash grabs, you need to look towards the F2P model - like the Cryptic games.

this forum post reeks of envy. I look at sales figures to estimate success. you might hate marvel movies but you sure are going to watch the next one and complain how bad it is after seeing the last 30 of them. no wonder people scam the masses, its easy.

Always sad to see someone make that mistake, but thankful it wasn't on a game I cared much about (was interested in Division early on, but once they presented it as having shallow FFA PVP elements I lost all interest; there are plenty of other games occupying my interest currently, and shortly Overwatch will be out and will eat up the majority of my time.)

Who knows... But the PvE part will keep it afloat for some time to come. It might never bloom but then again the PvE part is not reliant on the PvP at all.

This have been a good conversation

well, quite frankly, you talk dark zone only here.

those hackers do not affect me in ANY way while playing PvE ^^

You pretty much echo my thoughts on the matter. Fun game to play with friends, definitely has issues (whomever decided the Dark Zone should be about player-looting asymmetric PvP should be shot, they couldn't have come up with a worse design if they'd tried), hopefully will get better. Reminds me a lot of Destiny both in its good and bad aspects -- albeit at least The Division has a coherent, if less than amazing, story. Not really sure why so many feel the need to crap on it, but then that's pretty much what gamer "culture" has primarily come to be -- the herd deciding to hype something to insane levels, the herd then must tear it down for whatever reason.

    Meh.

If nothing else, The Division seems to prove that Bungie was right to keep Destiny off of PCs.

In any event, it's a bit early for the OP's prediction to be at all taken seriously.
