Two days ago, our last guild mission was catch 70 fish of one certain kind. We met at the harbour, people with fishing boats gave a lift to others and the last hour of the night was passed fishing, talking, making jokes, knowing each other better.
That is just a small example of what you can do socialy in BDO and people having a great time in a slow pace. Most of western games just lost that concept, unfortunatly.
Sorry, I am posting too much, blame BDO patching time, all servers are down, otherwise I wouldnt be here
This has to be the most boring mindless MMORPG ever created. The game looks amazing, which I'm guessing is what pulled most people into it. The combat would be great if the servers weren't lagtastic garbage since day 1. They keep releasing new areas of the game, but the content doesn't change. The only thing you can do to level in mindless trash mob grind for hundreds of hours, and no, that is not an exaggeration either. I have never seen a game with so much wasted potential as this game has. It is like they built the foundation for a massive new house and then just walked away from it. Yeah it's a "sandbox" game but there isn't much sand in the box to play with. Once you get past the graphics, all you have is the typical Korean grindfest RNG shitshow that no one in the west will play for more than a few months. File this next to Archeage as yet another Korean game that will be a ghost town in less than a year.
Thank you donger56 for posting. This is the perfect example of what I have been talking about. After writing what you just did the only conclusion one can take is that do you didn't even played the game or if you did, you didn't PLAYED it. I mean didn't group, didn't join a guild, didn't tried PvP, PvE, tradeskiling, with a minimum of deepness.
Otherwise wouldn´t be possible to say that servers are "lagtastic garbage". I play since day one and I had 3 moments of less then 1 minute with lag untill today, so what are you talking about?
The most amazing thing you say is " The only thing you can do to level in mindless trash mob grind for hundreds of hours" - I played the game trying to aknowledge all its mechanics and I found myself close to lvl 48 without doing any effort or grind.
There will never be enough sand for fast gamers in any game, its just not possible.
They built a foundation, a great one, as UO, EQ, EVE did too, just think about the first months of all those games and will conclude that they had the same growing pains.
Just to conclude, this is the perfect example of fast gamers. Unfortunalty there are more and more gamers avid of satisfation on the first hours of every game, if not, they just trash the game excluding the possibility of other playing it in another kind of way.
It wouldn't cross my mind after playing Mario Karts, going to the forums trashing the game saying its laggy as hell because my connection sucks and its a shallow game with lack of RPG content. Thats what you and a lot of other fast gamers do all the time.
Thank you again for this perfect example.
Way to be 100% wrong about every assumption you made and make a complete fool of yourself. When I quit playing I was lvl 56 Wizard on Orwen in a guild that was top 10 on the activity leader board. I was Artisan processing and professional gathering and cooking. I probably played this game far more than you did. The main core mechanic of the game is still not even in the game yet so the entire grind is totally pointless right now. You are entitled to your opinion but don't go trying to invalidate others opinions with your foolish assumptions.
Friend gave me a key to try it out, so I went in with no expectations. 1. Gender locked classes - nope sorry 2. It's a fantasy game - nope sorry 3. It is not an RPG, it is a twitch game. nope sorry 4. There is no reason to play since the game can play itself, why would I play again?
So long and short, I'm not hurting myself at all. There were a few interesting features, but they were tiny compared to what I considered not my taste.
Play what you Like. I like SWOTR, Have a referral to get you going! --> http://www.swtor.com/r/nBndbs <-- Several Unlocks and a few days game time to make the F2P considerably easier
Eh ... ill live. None of the gameplay ive seen has really interested me. The fact its B2P, low on PvE end game, PvP focus, and spammy action combat make this a pass for me. At least for now. Oh and the fact the only two classes I want to play are gender-locked female.
Game will be there if I ever decide I want to play anytime soon. They have until the end of 2017 or so to change my mind so...
Donger56 you wrote on previous post: "This has to be the most boring mindless MMORPG ever created."
It took you 56 levels to conclude this ? wow!
Either it takes you a lot of time to realize stuff or you just did what a lot of gamers who trash BDO talk do, rushed mindlessly to top levels to realize the game is ... mindless.
Been playing since
day one and I am amazed with the amount of bad information about the game.
The
amount of rushed reviews with shallow considerations is overwhelming and never
seen in years of mmorpgs releases.
I am an
mmorpg gamer since 2000 with Everquest and the only logic explanation for this
sheer amount of lousy revews and disinformation is that BDO was made by a
South Korean company and God forbid that one company from that side of the map
could come up with an MMORPG better then the last 10 years releases.
If you
try BDO and give it a chance to show its mechanics you will be amazed with this
beautiful game
I'm not hurting myself by not playing a grind fest in fact my hands dont hurt at all..... and for the record since you think how long you have played games/mmos matters to anyone but yourself I have played games on and offline since 1988 whats your point?
Lineage 2 with better graphics and less content. Been there, done that, in 2004. I even had more fun back then, because I didnt get fked by a horrendous real money ig shop, which charges you prices of full games for simple skins and P2W items. Yeah, really hurting here...

and if he only played to level 20 or whatever, you would instead say
"You didn't play enough, you didn't even try to play the game"
My Skyrim, Fallout 4, Starbound and WoW + other game mods at MODDB:
It's mechanics are VERY unrealistic button taps of which the result is very unrealistic movement that you would NEVER see a combat player perform,so imo the mechanics are utter crap. Then my favorite class as an example the Archer/Ranger type class doesn't even have any ammo,if that is not the laziest cheapest lamest mechanic i don't know what is.
Imo it fails CLASS and design in a very bad way and the main reason why i quit the game abruptly but there are also other reasons as well which compound the whole problem of a terrible game design.
I want a ROLE playing game,to which this game CLAIMS to be,that means i want to play a role as to which i would EXPECT the role to be played not just a bunch of computer code and lame mechanics tossed together to call itself a mmorpg.
Another laughable idea is the mechanic of auto generating your quests through some auto spawned demon, what significance does that play in a CLASS ROLE and what mechanic are we suppose to believe in for that to be part of a character's ability,EVERY character has the SAME ability to do so,so yeah a real lame design.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I tried it with the free keys handed out here. I gave it maybe 2, 3 hours.
It's very beautiful.
It lacks a bit in the in-game tutorials but I didn't try to look up guides on-line, so maybe the community fills that void.
Personally, I didn't like the combat. If I wanted combat like that I'd be standing in an arcade at the Tekken or MC machine. Since combat is very important to me that was a deal-breaker.
But I can see why people like the game. It's just not for me.
I'm playing it right now and am enjoying the heck out of it. However I found myself going back to ESO for the last few days and it has been refreshing. Logging out of BDO and not worrying about the game and my progression has been a bit of a relief for me.
Frankly, I'm a bit burned out on the game. Many folks who are successful in BDO put in a HUGE number of hours into the game. I don't have a problem with that but I think to be good whether it be crafting, horse taming, Pvping, it will take a considerable time investment. I will never be up there with any competitive player and really don't care that much. But to get anywhere, it does take considerable time. Not sure if I want to live and breathe an MMO. I don't mind grinding either--did quite a bit in Asheron's Call and it was fun seeing what loot could drop for you. However, a large part of the game is grinding and I'm not so sure I want to do that. I see many players almost making themselves sick when they think of falling behind.
Another thing that has been on my mind is the PvP aspect of the game. Let me level my horses or fish in peace. Just not sure how the future content will impact my enjoyment of the game. In fact, I've resisted buying anything in the cash shop until I'm 100% comfortable with this aspect.
With that said, I don't regret my purchase and felt it was $30 well spent. I will continue to play the game and wait and see....
I would try it if someone could share a trial key. These things were going out like candy, now I can not seem to find one. I have been burned on way to many games so if theres a trial option of any capacity, I will utilize it before I waste money. If anyone has a key to share, please do.
I was not impressed at all. I didn't feel like there was any one thing about BDO that was remarkable. Outside of the graphics, much of the game ranged from feeling tacked on, to downright horrible.
Reading or hearing about it sounds amazing until you realize how truly shallow and uninspired those ideas translated into the game. Almost like the adaptation of a really great book into a really shitty movie.
I kind of half agree with this. The ideas behind the mechanics are awesome. They seemed a little transparent to me though. I could almost see the flowcharts behind it all. I am still enjoying it casually but not the way I expected I would.
I'm so not hurting myself not playing this POS. I played it and bought it, was easily the worst purchase in a long long time. The game really does suck.

BDO is a beautiful game, ill give you that, but everything, and i mean everything, is a slow..... boring..... grind.....(And there is ALOT of stuff to do in BDO) Travel is horrible, no fast travel makes sense at 1st, but just ends up eating up too much time.. want to breed horses?? get that tier 8 super fast mount!? good luck, female horses are sooo rare.. and females can only breed once, unless you buy a cash shop item...and leveling your mounts afk is near impossible, because the system is bugged and the client crashes less than 5-30 minutes into it.. ...be prepared to drop another 30 bux on top of buying the game for a cosmetic set of armor.. yes $30 for one set.. for one character... or else you will look like everyone else who plays your class, if you decide not to buy a set, your options are.. a potato sack which upgrades to an Idaho Potato Sack, which upgrades to a fancy dress made from Idaho Potato Sacks.. ALSO!! translation is horrible.. its like they used translation software to translate the NPC/Quest dialog.. ITS HORRIBLE.. its like living in a world of 5 year olds.. voice acting is laughable.. you literally can sit at the vault and listen to the NPC say the same line, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and... till the point where you just have to turn the sound off, cuse you find yourself hearing the line everytime you open your refrigerator.. >.< This game has amazing potential, if they didnt try to nickle and dime you to death.. I would rather had a subscription fee, and get everything in the cash shop, in game via a quest, gold, or reputation, ect.. I have been playing BDO since launch, and have been an MMO gamer since 1997 with Ultima Online.. and this is defiantly the BEST LOOKING MMO, with awesome potential.. but not much else.. unless you enjoy spending 8-10 hours a day grinding.. (and i dont mean your average mmo grind either) I do not suggest anyone buys this game in its current state, maybe in the future.. I could go on about the grinds all night, like contribution XP, NO Player to player trading, racist and sexist jokes flooding the chat channel with no moderation, not to mention the problems people are having buying the in game currency needed to buy from the cash shop, people getting charged and not receiving their pearls, people being charged 3 times when purchasing the game, I could go on and on.. but alas, Im on a mission to find a new game.. If you haven't played BDO make sure to do some research to make sure its the game for you. (Trolls Flame On!)

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
Every mmo gets smaller after the rush of players at release. It is just the nature of mmos.
Still,
Black Desert is the most succesful Fantasy sandbox game ever made.
I know you hate to hear it.
My bad,
I meant to say Sandbox MMO.
Black Desert is not the most succeful sandbox game. That goes to Minecraft.
