#1 Server can support from 30,000 to 50,000 online players. #2 7-14 different planets in a solar system, all featuring mass terrain, cities, towns, etc (some with harsher atmosphere like our Mars) #3 Over 50 unique professions and 25 that can be unlocked as well as 5 hidden and more coming! #4 Built on a 100% hack proof engine using the latest tech available and it has game designs and sophisticated system in place to detect things like botting behavior. The company in the making has been silently working on it in the last 2.5 years at least. #5 It has estimated 150-200 mil (only production) budget and this will turn into 300-450 once players are allowed to donate. The company will not be featuring ingame cash shop. It will be either monthly, quarterly or every ½ year lump sum players will pay to have access. #6 I don't want to reveal the IP, but with such budget and production value it has some of the most amazing IP players can wish for. #7 It uses advanced AI, which means mobs have progressive learning and unique behavior. #8 There are professions that focus on space science and exploration, which means players eventually can discover new habitable worlds and settle outside their solar system, but this might take years or never, depend on the server and its evolution. #9 Players can use voice mic to communicate with any player in the world immediately, not needing to type to socialize. #10 The world is fully player driven, almost everything can be player harvested and crafted from the planet, like resources both land and sea even space objects.
There are so many other things that worth mentioning...but anyways. The release date is announced for December 12th, 2088, but oh snap I'm already 103 years old and the doctor just told me I have less than two months left on this planet! If anything, these times are good and peaceful for old avid gamer folks to rip...It would suck big time if this is truly how my life ends one day. That's one good thing about not having anything amazing that someone been waiting and hoping to experience for decades!
Ok so lets take it one by one:
Year is 2088 - our computer tech will be SO far advanced from what we have today that everything we know now will be completely obsolete.
With tech so different the way games are designed and played will also be VASTLY different
It's very likely that in 2088 entertaintment would no longer be designed by humans - if strong AI emerges around 2050 - gaming will be all done by AI
Voice mic? That would be completely obsolete. Most likely there will be a direct brain interface already far before 2088 - most likely before 2040
The world in 2088 will be a very different one from what we know today - imagine going 50 years in the past and describing interent, smart phones, netflix, social media - it would sound completely alien
The humans of 2088 will be alien to us in terms of interaction and interests.
Not to mention, by 2088 Vandal Savage will have already taken over the world.
Player driven worlds tend to lead to no resources left and abandoned houses scattered around the place. Some people do co-ordinated efforts to block access to important areas and set up toll gates or block off areas entirely delibrately.
The opposite is far worse: Handcrafted but completely static maps that cannot show any sign of change beyond NPC bodies that fade away in 30 seconds. I don't like it when Players gate content, but that can be fixed with a little forethought and minor policing by staff.
MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures
At the end you can just look at my signature to know how far my experience in gaming extends to accurately predict the fate of almost any product out there way before it's released.
Holy crap man, when you make comments like this, it makes it extremely hard for anyone to take you seriously.

It's called Dunning-Kruger effect. He is a sufferer of this condition.
@Moshra, let me fix your sentence for you since "you" is not "anyone". It makes it extremely hard for "you" to take me seriously, like many of those who asked for the option "never" as well as argued about SWTOR never going F2P.
People are meant to be different. People are meant to be ignorant and most importantly people have a right on their own opinions. You have the right not to take me seriously like the many who didn't take me seriously about SWTOR going F2P or the many other countless things in the past that I've proven to be right later on.
You do realize though it's extremely easy if I did the same thing and quoted almost everything you said and then keep adding a copy/paste sentence "comments like these makes it extremely hard for EVERYBODY to take you seriously" to just attempt to discredit you is borderline flaming and against the TOS, which I advice you read them again.
I'm not going to flag you though, since your case backfired because if you actually wanted to discredit somebody or win an argument you have to add more to it which requires a bit more effort, which you clearly are lacking. At the end I don't blame you. I often ignore a lot of baits and trolls that post for the sake of posting and arguing here or anywhere else, arguments and opinions that are not even worth debating.

You act as if you're not one of the thousands of people that "predicted" the fall of swtor. You were not some genius outlier that predicted what no one else did. I don't know if you've noticed, but every time a new high budget game comes out, many people immediately jump on forums to claim it will fail.
I can predict things as well. There is going to be a large earthquake in California within the next 50 years.
@Gabriel-Knight, it's ok to be jealous. On topic, it's truly depressing how we have not even had anything remotely close to the level of complexity and depth in a single game since SWG, which was released back in 2003, yea I'm talking about virtual persistent world MMORPG, featuring rich and deep class/profession system with a lot of tools for players to have player driven quests, stories and economy through crafting/building almost anything and what not. Not spending a cent for anything new that came over these last 5 years, 4 months and 4 days FINALLY starting to pay off, by seeing these type of MMORPG's now in development.
So, 2017 will be the year when this genre will go forward after over a decade of rushed products with less quality that are accessible mostly free. I'm ok with F2P products, but for those who want and can afford to spend $, without taking advantage of P2W monetizing models the market has been nonexistent. The tools and technology to deliver these type of MMORPG's in 3D has existed since the start of this century, but as long as producers see success in delivering something simpler, something cheaper and quicker to design they simply have vanished from the market.
A lot has to do with many buying into whatever new and shiny has been coming out simply out of boredom.

Why is it depressing? It is not like the market loves virtual persistent world MMORPGs. In fact, the market has been moving away from MMORPGs.
Even Blizz cancelled Titan.
It is actually nice that devs are looking into new kind of online games like mmo hybrids, instead of stuck with old mmorpg ideas.
@nariusseldon, it's also depressing to watch you lying to yourself because if this MMORPG was released now I bet you would be playing and throwing your $ on it over whatever MMO hybrid games that are released and currently in development you are praising.
The market at the end we cannot know if it loves virtual persistent world MMORPG or not because I can't think of anyone delivering one over the decade and longer, maeby because they are happy taking your $ and calling these other games they release a success that take far less effort/time/skills and resources to deliver, with low risks and easy copy/paste of something else already out there.

They had to resort to cash shop to do it. Too bad they can't put other players to play with on the cash shop...

Hmm that's weird right before Kotfe launched they announced subs were up 30% year over year...something SWG never pulled off. [mod edit]
@Tasslehoff35, that's why it went F2P after over a year? Cuz it made more in a year than its entire SWG existence? Then I read your name and all started to make sense.
Let me destroy you with some facts so I don't see you posting again, at least not in my threads.
Fact 1 Production cost estimated for SWTOR between $200 and $300 million, with marketing at least another $100M past that.
Fact 2 SWTOR released Dec 20th, 2011, 8½ years after SWG release which was on June 25th, 2003. To have 300,000 subs within the first year of launch, all paying box fee + monthly $15 fee was enormous success in a fraction of what the market is today and ironically SWTOR epic budget, in fact the biggest we've seen in the history of MMO's couldn't help that game reach over 400-500k subs.
My guess is you are a SWTOR fanboy in fact you even have an icon on these forums with a SWTOR screenshot, enough said.
Haha destroy me too funny. Keep crying about swtor buddy keep pretending you were the only one predicting it would go f2p...news flash you aren't special and nobody cares you haven't spent money on a video game in 5 years or 8 years or what ever time frame you are making up today.
More fun facts for you
In early 2006 that's LESS THEN THREE YEARS INTO SWG reports showed that only 10,363 subscribers were playing on a primetime Friday night, but Smeds denied that subscriptions had fallen this low but didn't deny they only had 10k players on a Friday. That is not what an "enormous success" looks like. I mean give it up buddy games like STO age of Conan and Neverwinter will last longer than SWG.
@Tasslehoff35 oh, but I'm special. Most things I've focused my attention I've made history, I've broke records, and the way people have praised me and valued me for witnessing what I can do is something I do hope you'll experience for yourself one day. That feeling to know you are special, to know you are amazing in whatever you do, I sincerely hope you get to experience it one day, if not in this life, I do hope God has bigger plans for you. Maeby if you showed more love and passion toward all things in this universe you would get closer to that, after all evolution is directly linked to a simple formula of love + time.
You seem to enjoy insulting with one same word "crying" over and over, which makes me see that you also are enjoying to believe in whatever will calm you enough to fall asleep tonight. Also, when you are copy/pasting your facts from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Galaxies make sure you do it properly by including the entire sentence like the word "UNCONFIRMED" before reports and Friday night when people go out to movies, clubs, etc with friends, partners or alone is not the best time to get actual numbers for a game, which further proves the purpose of whoever "unconfirmed" source released this info.
SWG sold 1 mil boxes before NGE upgrade came, which I don't see you mention anywhere that had the biggest doing for the downfall afterwards. If I could get 1 million players from mid 2003 to early 2005 to pay $60 box plus to continue paying $15 monthly fee, I would feel totally AMAZING, something SWTOR I bet never had the chance to experience.

Oh poor poor Kopogero it took Swtor two month to sell 2 million boxes (THATS ONE MILLION MORE THAN SWG SOLD IN 8 YEARS!) And SWG never had a million subs ever lol so stop lying about "continued subs". In 2013 alone swtor cartel market generated $130 million. Sorry facts are hard for you to understand. What's it like not being able to let go a video game that closed 5 years ago?? Must be rough over there....
"Perhaps most interestingly to players, however, is the fact that EA has reported sales of more than 2 million units of The Old Republic with about 1.7 million subscribers. Those are the highest (and the hardest) numbers we've heard so far. EA's Chief Financial Advisor, Eric Brown, stated in an interview that EA managed to pull in more SWTOR subscribers than the studio had initially anticipated"
It's always amusing listening to people like you squirm and brag about SWG having maybe 200,000 subs and in the same breath people like you bash WoW for 5,6,7 MILLION SUBS! It's amazing what the closure of a video game has done to a very small group of "grown" adults.
