The paid hate is too strong...

Actually wonder how the ranking system works, clearly it isn't just hype votes.

Ex: Bless is #8, has less than 100 votes and practically zero news and what not.

    Meaningless.

Regardless, turn down the fanboi. Both games get hate from anti-PVPers and both receive about the same news coverage considering what each is showing.

In the end, Albion Online will probably have more fans thanks to mobile. Is what it is.

Hey look, it's Will the Shill come to bad mouth CF again. You may not be getting paid to promote CU and diss other games, but you do it like it's your job.

I know you're afraid that PvPers will prefer CF over CU, but don't worry, I'm sure CU will have plenty of players.

Always love it when people actually fall for the hype trains and think hype=quality.

"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"

    Fun hype stuff:

    Hype is a marketing tactic.

When spreading hype people are simply doing free work for the marketing department.

Hype is the most relevant before game launch as it boosts sales.

The earlier game is in its development process the higher the hype (EQNEXT announcement is a perfect example)

As more details get released, hype declines(Crowfall is a good example)

Hype has very little relevance to actual game being any good

Hype gets a lot of attention and at the same time is the least important aspect of upcoming games

    It is safe to ignore

    Don't believe the hype

    @DMKano ;

I would go 1 step farther.  I know this sounds nuts but shut down sites like these and make MMOs again word of mouth.  I got into WOW because a friend of mine bought it around Dec 1 2004.  I brought my friends into FFXI because I bought it and started playing.  It's a lot better than Marketing Hyping a game and giving it this feature or that feature just for massive returns.  Marketing only cares about making X amount pre-launch and at launch not on sustainability because they do not make money on sustainability.  I know one of my best friends who works in the medical industry talks about it all the time.  They market Medical machines that might be OK and work for a few years, but they want that money so they can make the next generation of that medical equipment so you buy it again.  There is no profit in buying once every 5 to 10 years for marketing folks.

If your actually basing any mmo off hype from this site your doing it wrong in the first place........

I mean GW2 is number one on here first of all so that's your first clue lol........ And second that hype system is so abused it's not even funny a game will be number one on there one day then the next it's completely gone...... Plus as others have said hype is just that hype I mean the developers say one wrong thing people go down vote away or they say something someone likes people go up vote it's just silly..... The game is also a ways off so that could be part of it also......

Wow is not even in the top 5 on here, I know haters love to hate on it but come on........ Instead we have games that are supposedly better *cough* Rift, Darkfall, Smite lol....

The hype meter on the front page is based on precentage of votes at that time.

Example: if only 8 people voted likes out of 10 people = 80% likes, and a higher score.

The more votes a game gets, the odds of the percentage will be be lower.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Hype only affects unexperienced , young , extremely bored or not to smart people...

Hype Resistance comes from bad experiences or just a better working Brain.

Never jump the Hype Train if it costs hard earned money (yes, your parents money counts as earned hard too)

The more Hype the more Dissapointment  :3

Dont fall for the Hype !

The MMORPG Hype/Popular game thing has to be broken.  Darkfall was in the actual top 10 forever and now there are several oddballs that spiked up.  Including the FOTM Black Desert Online.  Really screwy list.

I don't understand why 1 down vote would kick Crowfall off the top 10.

As it seems everyone here is stating, ignore the hype.
Just keep an eye on the actual solid info, and tell the marketing weasels where they can stuff it.

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

I just want to know when the damn beta testing will begin. I paid for this game over seven months ago and would like to be able to enjoy it. (Sooner rather than much much later)

MMORPGs take time to develop. It's not rare that several years are required to get from Pre-Alpha to Beta. Fortunately, ACE is inviting new testers on a regular basis and thousands of players can currently test the game.

I wouldn't be surprised that some Beta testers get invited during the Throne War module (mini campaign), which will begin sometime after the current phase of testing.

To participate in the tests right now, backers need to spend $99 (Alpha 3).
