What's The Best Flying MMO/MMORPG?

When I ask what the best flying MMO/MMORPG is I mean which game has the best flying in it? The most added upon feature? And I don't mean like space ships and plans, I want to play in a game where I can go on the ground too and adventure there. I noticed in games like WoW it's not really that great to have a flying mount. Like it's okay, but nothing that exciting really. Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist...

 

Suggestions anyone?

    I managed 45 feet out of the disk for Mists of Pandaria! Best flyer I've seen so far.

    Aion had some interesting flight mechanics but I wouldn't consider them a highpoint, or consider Aion as a great game. It was a solid 6/10 game imho.

     

    DCOU had flight, but not really much for the actual mechanics of flight, it's not a bad game either, but not great.

     

    I honestly don't know of a good game with nice flight mechanics.

     

    All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

    I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

    Funny that no one mentuioned Champions Online, though people mentioned DCUO *shrugs* Shame City of Heroes and Villians has died else I'd say that as well but meh, I guess what would be really epic is arial combat but atm I can't think of any games that have that without ships.

    If you are referring to a game that allows full on aerial combat in the MMO sense the only one that I can think of is Aion.  Be aware however that this is only valid in late game when you can achieve the ability to stay in flight mode almost indefinitely.  Early game your flight meter will drain too quickly to even consider aerial combat valid.  The other down side to this is that you can only do said combat in specific areas (most areas you are forced into ground combat).  However Aion does boast the best F2P model on the market (my opinion of course but it's one that is shared by MANY).

    Sadly, if you want anything other than bare-bones flight mechanics, Aion is really the only game in town.

    Champions Online has pretty good flight. They are adding various flying vechiles (w/guns) from what I understand. CO is not for everyone as it is very "cartoonish" in look but it does fell like a comic book experience (to me). Although I don't play anymore...interest in other games has take me away....I still think it is one of the best in the genre.

    Sadly, if you want anything other than bare-bones flight mechanics, Aion is really the only game in town.

    The best part is it's free.

    Ew this got me thinkin about the worst flying online game i ever sah.... 2nd life Oo. Only could stand to play that for literally like 10 minutes lol.

    So, huge necro because I googled about this game today and got my own thread in the searches... That's when you know you MMO too much lol!

    Wish this game would come out in NA already though!

    Currently looking for any good ones myself, really would love to see more mmos do flying without mounts, i love the flight from of the Druid in WoW, and would raelly like to see some other mmos where i could play a caster of some kind that could turn into a bird. But doesn't seem to exist out of WoW. :(

    Isn't flight normally consider anathema to PVP anyway?

    Tera gets flight in like 2 days? So I guess keep an eye on that. Surprised no one got on here to say FFXIV though.

    EQ2 had free flight in most zones with a mount, no combat though.

    One MMORPG which has flying implemented almost organically that it become extended skill set of a player's movement abilities - in addition to leaping onto a horse, walking up a wall, gliding on top of water, stepping on the head of NPCs is JX3, a Chinese Wuxia MMORPG which after 6 years of operation probably unofficially dethroned WoW as top 3D subscription game in China after it reached almost 7 million active subscribers in Dec 2015.

    In JX3, all 12 classes has a unique style of flying, and IMO the best and most fun non-mount flying (limited by stamina) mechanism in current MMORPG:

    i would say dragons prophet for flying. you can grab a flying mount about 5 mins after you get past the starter area.
    ive been warned .lol
