LOL at all the defensive posts but my point still stands.
They use big numbers as marketing ploys because they know the average Joe thinks along the line of "Big numbers....this game must be popular....if I play it I am with the popular crowd....that makes me a popular person...". Yeah studies have shown people really are that shallow, deal with it.
Still doesn't answer my point...does anyone verify these numbers, or do the types of people that fall for such marketing ploys actually care so little?
And on the flip side you have the extra cute little hating crowd that has to not like something simply because it's popular.
For me , and I've read many others , it's just got that "something" that is fun. I didn't touch it at all until the open beta even with multiple chances for months before. Did it almost on a whim not expecting to leave it installed for an hour , much less buy it.
Multiple matches later , playing it off and on every day , enjoying it tons and had already ordered the CE on Amazon with the 20% preorder discount.
It's just a fun , well polished game to jump into whenever you want.
Overwatch was okay, but it gave me a very "been there, done that" feel, having owned and played TF2 for years. Battleborn, being a MOBA, has a lot more to its matches, and I tend to enjoy the longer TTK.
I've no doubt Overwatch will sell well... Just not sure there's anything incredibly new or innovative with the title. I half expect there to be hats for sale/unlock 6 months from now.
OW is the best fps to come out in a long long time. BB tries but just doesn t do it for me. There are others but OW is still going to be the king of the new batch of fps.
I think BB is the better game personally but since it didn't have the ridiculous marketing hype and the backing of the worst most ginormous game company it won't last. The numbers are already seeming to drop off a lot - but that being said I don't see Overwatch having a lasting effect for a big majority of it's day 1 players either.
I enjoy the game as well, was speedy and fun, but, I enjoyed Battleborn more, it just had that team accomplishment and working together draw for me and couldn't stop playing!

It gets a bit boring and tiring to read the same regurgitated hating towards things year after year on this website.
Compared to all of the other offerings this game is lame. Paragon, Battleborn, and Gigantic are all way better games. That being said I did enjoy my time in the beta, but team fortress 2 with extra character is still pretty shallow by comparison
I enjoyed playing Overwatch, but I didn't like Battleborn, the humor didn't hook me and I don't like the graphical style. (And no, I'm not comparing them point for point, unlike other people in aware they're actually different genres). That being said, I don't feel the need to try to shit on people who like BB every time there's a post about it either. Since I learned as a little girl that everyone likes different things. But maybe that's just me. Some people like being cute, divisive little "fans".
Anyways. I feel a lot of the complaints draw from the fact that a lot of gamers I come across feel like they should be able to play a game every day, all day, without any burnout. Everything will burn you out eventually. Oh well. I don't know why I ever expected people to be rational on this website.
I was surprised how much fun I had with this game. Probably won't be purchasing though (for the time being) as I have my hands full with Stellaris, EVE, alpha testing a game that will remain unnamed, and then Total War: Warhammer releases on Tuesday. Yikes, my gaming time got busy rather quickly, lol.
My urge to play again will likely drag me back in the not so distant future, however.

I only played one match, but I didn't see what was so special. I think people really settle for less than they should. It might be getting worse because when you factor in the popularity of pointless shallow mobile gaming, it makes games like OW look deep. We wanted a new mmo, and bliz abandoned it for this... I thought we hit peak fps shooter 5 years ago, but look at these forums, they've become infested with people actually enthusiastic about two games that are the opposite of mmos... on mmorpg.com. These are dark times.

Agreed. Stellaris I am having fun with as I am with Salt and Sanctuary. Plus I preordered TW: Warhammer so that likely will consume a ton of hours over the next weeks and/or months. OW will have to wait.

On another note i am suprised they didn't include "The amount of times Overwatch Porn was googled"
P.S: Idk why people compare battleborn to OW. Compare it to smite o.O They're kind of different genres. I dislike mobas. Cringe
