@DMKano , that's all you can come with ? No more "but but .. how much did their CGI cost"? or "but but statues ... statues everywhere" ?

I said Overwatch is a good game.
The rest of it is all about Blizzard's massive marketing and the effect marketing has on a consumer.

You are really reaching.
I know what you did there! Right there! Playing the "good boy" card in the end.
No! You were hating on Overwatch and kindof on Blizzard. Including trolling over Diablo 3 !
You have something against Blizzard marketing and Blizzard games in general, not only for Overwatch. You were saying multiple times that Blizzard games are avarage, but they sell good because of their superuberextramarketingcosts. People often comes with contra arguments saying that you can market the shit out of a game and if that game is bad or even avarage, it will not help in long term and yet, every Blizzard game is a success. Even the classics one like D2, W3, etc. But.. here you are, saying the same things over and over again.
"..and the effect marketing has on a consumer" ? LOL - Not going to even try getting with you on a debate based on that line!
100 mil ain't what it used to be? No! 100 mil IS 100 mil , no matter what ! Lol , where do you people get those .. ideas? Really .....................
And just as I said to Kano! Take of your head out from your ass and stop thinking everything revolves around US! You don't see 10% from the US marking in Europe or any other corner of the world. US marketing does not equal to 100 mil! Not even "100 mil which ain't what it used to be"!

You don't have inflation over there in Romania?
Must be nice, ask people around where I live if their dollar can buy as much this year as it could last year, or the year before that, or the year before that, etc. etc.
If you want to buy a home here ,your dollar is worth about 25% of what it was 10 years ago.
lol it cost 400,000 dollars for 1 30 sec advertisement in the nba finals. Its not the finals yet, but they have ads in every single nba playoff game ive watched so far. and sure there will be some in the finals next week. marketing money doesnt go far
Now suddenly , you are talking about the difference between 100 mil $ from 10 years ago vs today 100 mil! Even so , the difference is NOT big.
Based on the current US ( your country ) inflation rate , 100 mil dollars 10 years ago , it's now worth around 80 mil. So there goes your "ain't what it used to be" , even if you and I know that you didn't actually talked about a 10 years old difference when we were talking about 100 mil.
About your advertising, man! You clearly have no idea about advertising.
You could easily say that one can blow up 100 mil in no time by buying different things, yet , one has to know things about marketing and NOT to blow 100 mil in no time , nor spend 100 mil on marketing just because .. they can!
You are just throwing numbers because Blizzard have the power. Well , they are a business company, and they don't blow up large sum of money because they can. And again, because you saw 3 statues in the entire world , and some TV ads spots ( yes yes, EVEN when there is an NBA game ) , and twitch , youtube ads , does NOT mean 100 mil . Not even half !
About twitch and youtube ads, you do know that some companies work with CPM and others with CPC. I tend to believe Blizzard is working with CPC on youtube and twitch and same goes for google ads. That means a user HAS to click that ad in order for Blizzard to pay for that visitor, because being Blizzard, it will be stupid to work with eCPM , since they don't need impressions, because people knows them. They need clicks from users, and users who usually click on a Blizzard ad , did not heard , saw or something like this , about the said product and that is a very high potential client.
On a different note, did you know that Blizzard campaign budget for Hearthstone when they launched the mobile version was ... very small? At least on their CPI? They only accepted 50 installs daily and they only worked with few ads companies. They paid around 2$ per install. So that would have been 100$ daily for one ad company. Add x5 companies and you have 500$ on the CPI marketing campaign daily. Say they run for 2 months. That was around 30k for 2 months CPI campaign. That is not much at all. ( If you don't know what I am talking about, just google it ) !
But again, Blizzard knows how to get the maxim from 1$ when it comes to marketing, because we all can agree that they are very good at marketing. But remember, very good at marketing does not means they are also spending large sums of money.

Yet, did you ever bought Tv/radio campaigns? I take it as a no! I did! And they come with a very , very nice selective packages with a lot of discounts if buy say 1 month of advertising on their Tv/Radio .
MMORPG.COM knows better about what advantages one has if he buys an adspot here for 1-2 months. It will be much cheaper then if you buy weekly for exemple.
But again, you guys are talking without even knowing a think about marketing in general , yet , you just have to be right , right?

You really think they don't have to pay unless someone clicks on the ad? Just wondering what you think IGN and other companies advertise for free unless someone clicks the ad. I believe that model exists in some corner of the internet but it by no means popular. That banner doesn't go up without a bunch of money to show for it first.
funny video i could care less about the politics of it here as so many people just like to argue and bitch about nonsense. I love game of thrones and this movie made my day .

You are talking different things here. I reckon, there are rented spots too, eCPM and CPC , but one has to choose carefully what is best for him.
For exemple, IGN is solding their ad spots for around 12$ / 1k impressions. For 1 mil impressions one has to pay around 12k $ . Say you pay that daily for 1 mil impressions. For a full month , one has to pay 360k for 30 mil impressions. THAT is very high , but let's say it for the sake of making a comparation. ( Keep in mind that companies often give discounts when buying in bulk like this ) . Let's say youtube and twitch has the same prices , so that means around 1 mil $ monthly for almost 100 mil impressions. THAT is very huge. And one has to market like that for say 2 months and that's it. So that means 2 mil $ for almost full 2 months worth of ads on ign , twitch , youtube for 200 mil impressions. Add another say 500k for all other websites, and there goes your marketing campaign on za internet for 2.5 mil $ in 2 months. Without discounts of course. And no, one does not market for the entire year , same as when they marketed for 2 months when their product launched.
Also, keep in mind ( taken from youtube ) : Plus, you only pay when someone engages with your ad. If they skip it before 30 seconds (or the end) you don't pay a cent.
So if you see that Overwatch ad on youtube or twitch ( I believe twitch has the same rules ) , it means shit , if it's not played in full.
So yea! Things are a bit different then what you and Kano think of!

You are making stuff up about me now.
Why do you need to make bullshit up?
I play D3 and like the game.
I have friends who work at Blizzard, I know what's going on behind the scenes. Blizzard makes good games, they used to make amazing games (Star craft 1, Diablo 1, Vanilla WoW) now they make decent games and just market the hell out of them for big sales. All Blizzard employees know this lol.
Please show me where I have trolled D3?
I am going to leave this here! Don't make me search for other posts of yours where you bashed Blizzard games.
Take Diablo 3 - the majority agreed that it was not a great game, it was a decent game but it was the highest selling ARPG in history - because it's Blizzard and it everyone and their grandmother knew abut D3 launch.
hmmm, the majority? Or a minority of people who are loud on forums?
I would think one would have to look at its sales history. If the majority of those sales happened the first week then sure, you would have a point.
I think players who wanted a continuation of Diablo 2 were disappointed but it's very possible that it appealed to players who didn't care about such things as well as new players.

This is not just a site where we express are thoughts on gaming and gaming related topics. It is also an insight into the psychological aspects of the individual making the comments. I think this is a great site because it allows us to vent life's frustrations and educate ourselves. The angry and negative posters you see often are just unhappy with life currently but it doesn't mean they won't change; so don't let it bother you. Once in awhile I come off very negative but I realize its about me not the topic.

If they're advertising on TV and paying TV and Movie Stars to market the game, 100 million can easily be a conservative number.
