all old mmorpgs will be free by 2007(except World of Worcraft)
they will either be free to play or be closed
this is because they are old
and
because of WOW
and
because
some of them will quit wow and try another old game
and
then they will throw up
and
go back to
WOW
so even if you hate Wow
thank Blizzard for making all mmorpgs FREE
only WOW and 1 other game wont be free

For one who never is to post again, it would be quite the wasted effort to learn how to post. But the spiritual gain of such a study (which goes far beyond click "reply" / "new thread", type and click "post message") might make it worthwhile yet.
There is a trend that every now and then something that can't sell becomes free. It is a simple, if probably wrong, assumption, that WoW will be the only game able to charge people money in the future.
I think of it in different terms: WoW looks cute, has lots of servers and simple content. Little about WoW could not be copied / replicated / improved.
EVE has a unique concept, a mature and well established playerbase and gameplay that doesn't die at level X. People who prefer this type of game over the simpler overkill-machines-of-no-consequence-or-logic will most likely be in existence for a long time ahead. And although maturity is not necessarily absolutely reliant on age, it is not wholly unlikely that a large portion of this game's following will have an independent income that enables them to pay a monthly fee. I find it extremely likely that games of this sort will thrive, have a following, and receive income from their playerbase for at least as long as WoW bothers to exist.

noone seems to agree with you because this is totally untrue, not everyone likes WoW, infact alot more people then u think hates WoW, Blizzard has made many good things and made many bad things in their games, having said that, there are people who notice the bad points of Blizzard more then the good points, i am one of those people, Blizzard has made many mistakes to their games like diablo 2 charecter expiring and im sure there are things for WoW too so this is not the reason y they will be free, if they are free its because the people in their community left for a newer one..... THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL BE WoW! and im sure many people agree with u and im sure many people dont.... but if u read my post i hope i can change ur mind

Eventhough the OP is clearly an idiot, he is probably onto something slightly and I do believe this year and next year will see a new trend in mmorpg subscriptions which some of the less popular games, offering free play and go the same way as Anarchy Online with the advertising ingame.
Funnily enough, i don't blame WoW because by 2007, it won't have half it's fanbase once all the "phat lewt" nerds realise that every patch, they need to waste their social lives constantly to upgrade their gear so they can be "1337". It's only a matter of time before blizzard lose a lot of their customers and I believe it's starting to happend now, i was in one of the most popular raid guilds on my server and before I left, we were losing quite a few members due to them realising what a waste of time the game was. Also with no future plans to release anything other than more boring raid dungeons, there isn't anything to look forward to. Just wait until the expansion hits and people realise what a bunch of idiots they have been for spending all that time getting level 60 gear but only have it get completely outdated with the level 70 gear which you further have to lose your social life for.
Totally agree with you there.. I will pop back into this game when blizz decides to release its
new expansion pack, but until then, i am in an inactive status.

I don't think your going to find Blizzard will loss its fanbase that fast. Their singles player games, Of which they release next to NO patches stay popular for YEARS hell they are still very popular. Im not playing anymore simply because I found another game I liked it has nothing to do with it being a bad game.

Observances about the OP's, and repliers, personal shortcommings aside...... I can see a lot of the older games going the Korean route. Basically, the game will be free to download and play but you'll have to pay for high end, in-game items. Most devs on this side of the pond aren't sure if this is a feasable business model so they aren't going to spend alot of money making a new game to test it out. Much better to take an older, declining game, and try out the "pay real money for fake stuff" pricing model. Hey, this might be a good way to Earth & Beyond back!! Who wants to take bets that the new free game SOE has been talking about is actually E&B?

No offense bro, most people I know who have left WoW did so because they found it lacking and are finding games they enjoy more. Funnything is most of them are going to games older than wow. WoW just isn't all that good. No matter how much you want us to believe it. Most of us have played it.
