She can thank all of those female "gamers" on twitch who make everyone think women are bad at video games. You know the ones that show off there chest/cleavage and jump up and down to get viewers.
I tend to find this argument more than a tad disingenuous, to be honest.
Many of the better known male streamers and Youtubers I can think of are anything but good at video games, yet somehow that doesn't translate to guys being bad at gaming. TB can be downright painful to watch. AngryJoe often isn't much better. Yahtzee is a bit better (though I think Gabe is probably the better gamer of the two), but only average at best.
Gaming ability rarely seems to play much of a factor into who is popular on Youtube or Twitch. Among the guys I'm sure it's no accident that there's a preponderance of deep British-accented voices way out of proportion to their overall percentage of the gaming population and anyone who thinks PewDiePie's success is about his skill with a keyboard and not his looks really needs to wake up and smell the sub numbers.
Guys automatically assuming a female "gamer" (love the scare quotes) is bad has jack squat to do with Twitch, especially as it's mostly guys who made those pathetic T&A shows popular whilst wholly ignoring the many female streamers who actually are good at games.
I don't see where there is an issue in all of this. This doesn't really need a discussion. If it where a guy doing this it wouldn't even be news, but since it is a girl here we are discussing it 3 pages deep and counting.
Yup. I'm all bent up like a pretzel over people I don't know from the other side of the planet playing a game I have no interest in.
Your sarcasm does little to conceal the rear pains that are clearly oozing out in your original post.
And you clearly missed the entire point of the original post - that a stilted, pathetic little article (that never would have been printed about a man being accused of cheating) instead sees front page billing because its biased author thought it was an excellent opportunity to turn a non-story into a moment of feminine empowerment.
Add to that, I'm not sure what there is for me to be butthurt over... though I can certainly see that there's plenty of material here for monsieur to get tangled up in, such as the fact that I'm not instantaneously kowtowing to the transparent left-of-center agenda of the original piece, or that I've taken a decidedly unprogressive position on a select slice female gamers in general.
The fact that you keep swinging and missing certainly isn't discouraging me from continuing to laugh at your feeble attempts to unhinge me.
Who seriously challenges a Korean's game-playing ability to start with?
All Koreans are amazing video game players. All Asians are artists. All Australians are CG gurus.
I thought these things were just common knowledge on the internet. Yes, this article was so pointless and not-newsworthy that it reminds of the kind of crap they put on the Today show.
Same crap happens in every game. I got into a CAL team back in the CS/DoD days because their entire team accused us (just me and my roommate at the time) of cheating because we 2 manned them every single time we played them on their own server (they were a decently ranked team).
3 of them lived in the same city (2 were brothers) so we invited them to come over and watch us play and after said they couldn't believe someone could be so good at a game. We joined their team and kicked ass for nearly 2 years. I had to tone it down though in practices because I nearly made the one brother rage quit because he could never kill me (I was talking on the phone with the other brother the one time who told me to tone it down because his brother was raging ... likely because he knew I was on the phone and STILL destroying them while carrying on a conversation).
The point is that there will be games (usually a FPS) where someone so good will show up that there will be NO convincing others they don't cheat. It got to the point in DoD that I could only play on 2-3 servers (out of dozens under 100ms cap) because they all banned me thinking I cheated. 2 records stand to mind: One CAL practice map I was on a 52 kill streak and finally died when I got bored and only used my knife ... got banned soon after. Another server on my fav map (Avalanche) I entered the game rushing to end, capped 3 flags and solo killed their entire team (some scrub CAL team I never heard of) and was banned within 30 seconds of entering the map. Fun times!
Not bragging but more so just waxing poetically on the subject. I have absolutely no intention ever again devoting so much time and practice to get that good at a game. I bet I put in 3-10 hours a day on average and it isn't a game like Wow. A fps game is constant action and growing older I simply became bored of such things. Interests should grow and evolve through life. Leave this hardcore shit with the young kids.
And once again, gender is brought front and center despite the fact that it never had anything to do with this story in the first place.
If the accused were a male gamer, would his gender have been part of the headline? I'm guessing not. In fact, it probably wouldn't even be specifically mentioned anywhere in the article, merely inferred through the use of gender-specific pronouns. Which is how it should be, but nope! Suzy just has to point out the poor gamer girl being picked on by those mean, vicious closet Gamergate supporting men! It can't be because they genuinely thought she was cheating, no! It's because she's a girl! That's it! Men are evil! EVIL!!
Ya I can't watch or play like that. To jarring, I couldn't even see half of what was going on.
The jumping made it infinitely worse. I got about 3 minutes into the actual feed and cut it off. If this kind of gimmicky idiocy has provided her with an excellent win rate, good for her, I guess. But I wouldn't be caught dead doing it myself.
Gimmicky idiocy?
You realise that she is predicting the opponents shot placement and that nearly every movement she makes is a result of those predictions, right? Her ability to read tells from an opponent is top notch.
You don't get an 80% win rate by being good at bunny hopping. Anyone with even a modicum of experience in the competitive first person shooting scene would be blissfully aware of this fact.
Probably a good idea to better educate yourself before you chime in on this subject again, as it's blatantly obvious that you're not very well informed.
She was bouncing around like a kangaroo on crack even when nobody was shooting at her. Probably a good idea to get your eyes checked before you chime in on this subject again, as it's blatantly obvious that you're incapable of actually seeing the video.
She's obviously very skilled, but let's call a spade a spade here. Disagreeing is fine, but acting like a condescending jackass about it is uncalled for.
Your post is ironic. The point is that her movements are advanced, skilled, and next level. You may not like it because it's not aesthetically pleasing, or in your opinion, useless.. but this is simply not the case. It's used to dodge incoming attacks. Is some of it preemptive? Sure.. That's kind of the point. She's going to be incredibly hard to hit, and her aiming is insanely accurate.
If you play any FPS at a high level, things like this are commonplace. There's nothing wrong with being that person who manually clicks their skills in WoW, instead of using hotkeys, but calling someone an idiot because of their play style, is moronic at best. This is not even mentioning the fact that Zarya is a high skill cap hero in the game.
its overwatch, aim assist auto aim bs magnet shot, yeah she has some real skill, uhh not really i watched the footage that crap been around since early days of quake, doesnt take skill to play OW, just takes little bit time to understand how game mechanics work, thats about it. sooo yeah i don't agree with some of the stuff you have said, we are talking about a casual game that's trying act like its hardcore arena shooter with TF2 style and moba stuff, pretty much just a shallow game for people that "think they hardcore Pro gamers" same reason why everyone plays League and crap these games are casual as hell, sure you can spin some crap and say oh it takes this skill ect ect, but same can be said for pokemon or mario games, we can all spin crap to suit our own agenda.
then again i never really respect these so called gamers that chase these E-Sports games, most people wouldn't even give a crap about league if it wasn't for E-sports, and no one would give a crap about overwatch if another company developed it, they only praise this garbage because the world "blizzard".
these popular games are just horrid in general and the people that come with it, the egotistical behavior, the false mentality that they are elite, this is one part of it all, it paints a clear picture for me, for any game to be popular and adopted by the masses with out PR/hype/marketing influence, they need the following.
Easy to pick up and play Low skill cap ( very few people like hard games thats why hardcore games have niche players and you don't see them in E-sports) must be low demanding
Call of duty League of legends and overwatch Hearthstone ect ect, these have all these common attributes among them all, they all just casual games for the masses, and because humans are sheeps, they all just follow suit like good little sheeps and lets not forget fanboisim/girlsim.
So, rampant bunny hopping is a thing in overwatch? Makes me even more glad I didn't buy it...
lol man just look at the gameplay it looks like some pathetic arena shooter and people praising how fun it is, wanna know why these morons think its fun? because its easy! haha takes little effort/skill and is a casual game for the masses of sheeps, don't buy it, unless you wanna promote everything thats wrong with gaming industry today. its just some garbage game thats over hyped.
I don't see where there is an issue in all of this. This doesn't really need a discussion. If it where a guy doing this it wouldn't even be news, but since it is a girl here we are discussing it 3 pages deep and counting.
The girls is good. Congrats. Period.
Misquoted that for lulz.
In all seriousness, she's good. As in "I-can-never-be-that-good" good. Also, she's not some so-called twitch "gamer girl" that shows more cleavage than actual gaming.
They quit......until they come up with a new name and ID and "break out" onto the scene.
Just seemed like a publicity stunt tbh.
People are always betting their jobs on being right about unfounded accusations right?
It was probably to draw media attention to the players, and the game itself, i don't think Blizzard were behind it though, i think this was just a 'stage setting' for a Pro Gamer(s?) in a game that is looking to become the next big thing there, of course i do think that Blizzard is 'playing along' as they don't have anything to really lose here, as for one, they are demonstrated to have a platform that supports highly competitive play, and second, that its 'secure' in that cheating can be detected. Of course there is also the competitive factor in play, where She, the purportedly accused player, is in effect challenging other players levels of skill, much in the way a matador waves a red flag at a bull, to other 'pro gamers' she will become the one to beat, so to speak, and her name may well become synomymous with female pro gamers. If all goes well, the womans career as a pro gamer is assured and she probably stands to earn a fair amount of money from it, along with whichever company is managing her, and of course, Blizzard benefits from this because Overwatch becomes the new 'Starcraft' or 'League of Legends'. I would hazard a guess that this whole event would not have happened if Overwatch wasn't becoming more popular than League of Legends in PCBangs
She's using an OP character that she spends like 19 hours a day only playing... If you only play 1 character for hours a day you're bound to do tell. Honestly though watching her play didn't seem like she was really worthy of calling hacker, she was okay. Mostly I would see people calling her hacker because she's 17 and not because it's a girl lol.
But ya know how can you prove a person is not cheating when you have "Push to Toggle AImbots" can even stream your game by using dual monitor overlay hacks on second monitor which wont show up in the stream and say "Im not cheating".
Not saying this is the case here, but still streaming doesn't prove a person isn't cheating.
I don't see where there is an issue in all of this. This doesn't really need a discussion. If it where a guy doing this it wouldn't even be news, but since it is a girl here we are discussing it 3 pages deep and counting.
The girls is good. Congrats. Period.
Nope, even if a guy was facing this situation it would be a news. Why? because overwatch is the trend now. put a news with it and websites get a couple of thousands click and a controversial one and it gets hundred thousand at least.
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
Accusing of cheating seems to be popular. I got it twice in pvp last month - once because the guy felt he was using blur to evade and he still died to condition damage. The other time because a necro didn't like being caught in the warrior stun lock.
Never thought I would say something this elitist but hell... just let the stupid noobs rant.
And once again, gender is brought front and center despite the fact that it never had anything to do with this story in the first place.

i mean i'll play with the 10 million unsalted players... while you sit there solidifying for some reason...
it's a fun game with literally none of the characteristics you quoted, maybe you should actually play it before you make judgement.. or better yet jump on the blizzard hate wagon because thats clearly what you're doing here.
Only Koreans can take online gaming so seriously....these dudes bet the girl was cheating, the girl goes on Youtube to prove it, these guy quit.... lol.
Who CARES? And what kind of a stupid pud thinks they're so right that they bet their future in gaming on it?
However, having said that, was the purpose of this article simply to tweak their noses as they head for the doors? Scold them publicly for what has been after-the-fact branded as misogyny? What if they had been right? Would you still have written this hit piece at all?
Many girl gamers don't want equality - they desire supremacy; they don't just want to be part of the team, but the central focus of any group that they're in. And this is why there are so many all-girl teams; so many all-female twitch streams and Youtube channels. Exclusivity by one sex shouldn't be supplanted by that of another, and yet so many girl gamers seem to believe that that is the only reasonable outcome. The goal of feminism should be equality... not bludgeoning the opposite sex into silence.
Obviously, as previously stated, this doesn't apply to everyone, or even a majority, but it has unquestionably altered the general outlook of most male gamers regarding members of the fairer sex who play (which is why so many youtube videos/articles/etc. denigrating and documenting the behavior exist). A slim minority they may be, but the female gamers who act this way are so prominent that unabashed, squealing narcissism has become the defining characteristic of their demographic... and "HAHA! YOU LOSE! SHE REALLY IS THAT GOOD! GIRL POWAH!" articles like this do NOTHING but reinforce that stereotype.
The girls who don't have the confidence or lack of virtue to stir drama and show their tits don't get the attention. The girls who do, get the attention and then they get the goddamn backlash.
But yeah you keep beating those strawmen feminists even though this has NOTHING to do with feminism.

Do you even have examples and how those relate to gender equality?
No, don't get me wrong, I'm on your side, but don't be a freakin' moron.
Now if we can just get a chip inserted in everyone that give them a slight electroshock when they are arseholes and we would be on the way to the perfect society. =P
How is the human race going to generate enough electricity that this is going to take? Will everyone have to lug around a portable generator and wear a solar panel array as a hat?

The headline is clearly implying some underlying misogyny that is absent from the actual story.
In fact the only misogyny to be found here is mmorpg.com's view that female gamers need to be separated out for special treatment.
You are posting some laughably bad content, please desist.
