I would love to know your gaming history, OP.  Because when you say greatest MMO experience ever, I immediately think of a few older games that have yet to be matched to this day and have all and more than you stated in your OP.  FFXI and WoW mainly come to mind, especially the former.  I'm glad you like the game, but I didn't last 2 days, it bored me to tears and it felt like I was playing another Archeage but with a different skin.
FFXI was my first MMO and I did love it.  Spent a good year and a half playing it.  I've played pretty much all of the major MMORPGs since then.

My review is subject to change of course (it's clearly labeled as a 1 month review).  But BDO is shaping up to be really something special.
I love to hear about people loving a new game they are playing. Awesome to read positive posts about a game for a change. Cheers!
I love this game and try to play it everyday. I am always learning something new and I guess that keeps me playing. This game has changed my outlook on how to play an mmorpg. Most games are so quest driven and they feel very repetitive, but this game has so many options it can be mind boggling at first. While playing I literally try to get lost and almost every time I find something cool to do.
See that is what an MMORPG is supposed to do for a player. Not everyone who plays the game is going to get that feeling but the fact that you do and Holden does and many many others? Who cares about a rating, a score or if it is this game or another game. If a game ticks all of your personal taste boxes then ratings and other people's opinions be damned.
Well someone cared enough to type a gushing review looking for validation.
I didn't write the review for "validation".  I wrote it because there's been a lot of unfairly negative and inaccurate things about BDO on the forums for the past month and it needed counterbalanced.

It would be a shame if someone who really would've liked BDO didn't even try it because they believed the game can only be viewed negatively.

Oh, I also wrote it cause I like the game and wanted to write a review about it.  What was I thinking?

I held off until now because I wasn't at endgame until now and wanted to make sure I saw most of the game before reviewing it.

Or are you silly enough to work so dilligently on their marketing gratis?

Not really sure how you lasted so long off my ignore list.  That's easy enough to fix.

Anytime anyone wants to like, ya know, discuss MMORPGs, or BDO in particular, instead of constantly tossing out ad hominem attacks, I'd be totally all about that.

You know, if you stop making the twice-a-week gushing fanboy threads... You wouldn't need an ignore list.

I booted it up for a few hours tonight just because. I still can't see the draw. The world is a cluttered mess, the popups are incredibly annoying, the questing dull (and, honestly, completely unnecessary - it's ridiculous you're forced to commit to any of the black spirit pre-50 arc at all), and the grind palpable.

About the only credit I can give to the game is its slick combat, which continues to reward. But when you're fighting wave after wave of the same monster ad nauseam, what does that really matter? When I'm playing BDO, I'm constantly looking for the game to give me some kind of a little "yes, there really is more to it than this" style nudge. But it can't... because there isn't more.

Ignore the haters. I have been playing since release and have no grown bored at all. It is not perfect, but what MMO is? There are issues that I am not happy about, but I am still logging in and playing every day despite them. Good MMO in my opinion. Yes people, go look up the word opinion.
That pretty much sums it up for me as well.

Agree with this sentiment. Log in and try it for yourself!

The major appeal of the game is it's a virtual world you can live in and choose what you want to do.  If you find the world to be a cluttered mess and can't stand the pop-in, it's probably just not for you, because you're not going to enjoy living in that world.

What do you mean by the "world is a cluttered mess"? It seemed to me to be the most beautiful and well crafted mmo world I have ever played, possibly even better than any single player game world.

This is not an MMO it is a cooking-horse taming-gathering-casino simulator.
You forgot enslavement aspect. Cooking-taming-gathering-slaving-casino sim.

Frankly with all the racial controversy as of late here in the US, I'm surprised this game is even legal.

Nothing unfair or inaccurate has been posted. All concerns can be seen on youtube and in BDO's own forum quite readily. You weren't trolled, you're just getting worn down from those of us that won't blindly subscribe to your views, and instead have opinions and justifications of our own for why this game sucks.
Trolling, being trolled, getting banned, yelling at mods, getting perma banned, making new accounts, and still trolling this site since 2004 =D

I won't hate like others do.  Good review.  It puts things in perspective from someone who hasn't tried it yet.  Even so, it already confirms what i've known about the game just from watching videos on youtube, and i'll already know what to expect when i do try it out in the future.

What... so slavery in a game is politically incorrect?

Having slaves in a videogame is a big no no, but slaughtering innocents by the thousands because of their race color or creed in a videogame is A-OK.

This exchange is down right silly.

Civil servants do things for you in real life all the time without you paying them.  They're also paid by the state.
