It may be a fad. It may not be the MMO. But it has made people go out ans walk. I am walking 6 miles a day since it came out. Plus meeting neighbors in park is priceless (they were indoors watching TV in old days lol)
How long will you do this for?
The crowds in my area already gone, the novelty wears off really fast
maybe the crowds thinned out when they realized that meeting DMKANO was too likely and far too creepy.
Biggest MMO in the world? What? This does not match my definition of an MMO at all..
Well it is Massive Multiplayer Online game, so a MMO... It has RPG elements too, leveling and items and PvP and all.
It is a MMO, but for mobile and every non-gamer out there.
Serious hype around this, in my local student village there was like 40-50 people walking around playing PokeGO 1.00 A.M. last night.
And they are not kids, or at least their physical age is 20 and more...
It is 'massively multiplayer' not 'massive, multiplayer' and Pokemon Go is not an MMO. Amazingly popular, definitely, but not an MMO.
@craftseeker is correct about the definition of a MMO game, but in this case I don't think you'll be needing to adjust the goalposts to hit the benchmark:

Pokémon Go is now officially the United States’ biggest game in the history of mobile gaming. It’s very nearly poised to pass Snapchat, too which is one of the biggest apps in history period. There’s no denying that the game is one of the biggest crazes to hit the gaming world since well… Pokémon originally landed on the Game Boy. But is it any fun? Read on for our full initial review.
Yep now we need more PokeStops or whatever it was you called them in my area there isn't a lot of pokestops, just like Ingriss there isn't a whole lot unless going out about 6-8 miles, even then playing in a bigger city is much better.
Would be awesome if they allowed pokespots to be created temporary locations by any user.
Combat is a LOT more in depth than you think. Tapping fast means nothing if your main attak is slower. You are better off dodging and waiting for your basic attack timer to refresh. Also, using the right skills on the right type of pokemon is crucial. I can easily smoke a 1800 vaporeon with my 1200 jolteon attacker, AS LONG AS my jolteon has a lightning main attack. I once used one that had a normal quick attack and I lost almost instantly. There is a great deal of depth to the game already, you just have to use your mind to unlock it.
Also, at 5k free stardust a day, the gym rewards are hardly "meaningless".
It would be real nice if you guys took more than 2 hours to try a game out before giving it an "initial" review. Remember, initial is not synonymous with uninformed.
The Pokedex expands as you find higher numbered ones. Dratini is the highest numbered one I currently have so my Pokedex stops at 147.
I'm of a generation prior to the initial Pokemon craze so I'm still learning things. I've seen more people in their early to mid 20s playing than anyone. They grew up with the game and now can drive to different stops and gyms I guess. There is a decent amount of depth in a rock-paper-scissors kind of way. I like it so far.

That is a pretty big crowd. Not sure if it's the biggest ever... today I went to a park where they had a scheduled event. 8 lures around a 3 mile area for 4 hours..
When it got dark, the park isn't illuminated so you couldn't see anyone in front of you except for their phones. When you looked across the park all you saw were small glowing lights and fireflies. It was such a big park and everywhere I went there must have been a good 100 - 200 people around me walking the same paths.
I left and stopped at my usual park on the way home to take over a gym, met several people that also came from the event.. hung out for an hour.
I wish it wasn't going to be so shortlived though. I feel by end of year, even with the updates, we won't get that same feeling and intensity we're seeing today... but on the other hand.. at least I'll be able to hold a freaking gym for longer than an hour.
lol, funny how about 30 people posted on this thread, and most say it's crap but in the mean time you got millions if not in the billion already of players running around world wide trying to catch some pokemons. Your negative arguments are pretty much invalid, I know you're all butt hurt that a crappy graphic game like PokemonGO is getting all the attention and that barely no one gives a damn about the top 7 hyped games on this site LMAO!! But please, keep writing on how CoE will revolutionize the MMO industry, ROFL!!

"your chosen faction (there are three, and Blue is best by the way)." Now that's what I call empire building.
