The games I play, regardless of their age or current lack of content, are still fun because I choose to make whatever I am doing fun.. If I cannot do that, I don't mope about it, I look for greener pastures..
The brand of negativity your post is spewing is practically worthy of FOX news and/or a doomsayers cult.. If you can't find a game that makes you happy, then try another.. then another.. and if that fails, find something else thats fun for you..
The idea that "we" should have no hope is ludicrous.. and to paraphrase what I recently said to another depressing poster - Just because I can't find my dream game doesn't mean I give up.. I'm making my own.. and hopefully it'll one day make many others happy too..

When you're playing something like EvE. No other game has so many different styles of gameplay, that actually interact with each other on multiple levels. Even though there is A LOT of content, of your choosen/favored content type there probably isn't all that much or it's repetitive.
When you're playing something like Wurm/Haven and Hearth. You're look at advancement that is part of the world, Asynchronous grouping, and where you spend more time crafting than other things.
When you play something like Realm of the Mad god. You're looking at a game that has intensive combat, with punishment+reward for deaths/good-play.

I don't play games I find boring so I don't have a problem with whatever the OP was trying to write.
I play games because of boredom. Whatever boredom is actually I haven't got a clue. My favorite game lately is forum chatting about games. I wonder if we will have guilds in the future?

If I get bored with a game I just play it with my eyes closed and imagine whatever I want. Brings all the good vibes and karma along with the positive energy from within.

But the acronym MMMORPG now currently means Microscopic Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Kappa.
