Path of Exile is getting a brand new expansion. Called Atlas of Worlds, it launches on September 2nd, and significantly improves the endgame map creation system players have been spending so much time with since the game launched a few years back. We spoke with Grinding Gear’s Chris Wilson about the myriad ways in which Atlas of Worlds improves the endgame for Path of Exile, and how the new Essence Challenge League brings challenges for new players too.

Best F2P game ever.
I would say best ARPG on market, regardless of payment model.
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Yes, that also.
The map system is the proper game. The leveling process up to maps is fun for racing, but just a chore if all you want is to play a new build. Anyone who don't like the map system should stay away from this game.
And yes, I'm playing maps 95% of the time and I love the map system. Best endgame ever.

But I gave up on game because of the one-shot mechanics in hardcore mode, when opening some box could kill you instantly. I also found armor system so bland - my endgame character still runs around in same rags as when I started the game, only with more skillgems inside it. The best looking armor one must buy from cash shop - this really ruined fun for me: instead of thrill to find cool armor from mobs, like in Diablo games, here i must buy it from shop.
And spamming one or two skills the whole game quickly became boring.
I only asked for returning players' opinion because it should go without saying that anyone who's still left playing PoE at this point likes the map system, otherwise they wouldn't still be playing it. Those who hate the map system all quit by this point considering how old the game is and how integral the map system is (with the possible exception of league-ers, but even most of them only drop in once every few months for the new league rather than play consistently)
