No thanks. Between amazon prime, Google play, Hulu, Netflix, car insurance, cell phone, Internet, mmo of choice, etc. Id say I have enough subs in my life. Also the quality of content on the site has steadily gone down overtIme IMO.
I won't vote in the poll because neither answer applies to me. I won't pay for an ad free website. I don't use ad blockers. If you add a fee for no advertisements I'm okay with that because it won't effect me.
I might decide to never frequent this site again if you decide to divide people into subscribers/donors or non-subscribers/donors with labels or different levels of access or benefits.

Will there also be a cash shop? And seeing that theres a subscription option will the said cash shop only sell cosmetic items or will there be p2w items as well?

- Personal @mmorpg.com email. (choosing any username, not necessarily same as forum name)
- Subscribers only contests and giveaways. (to avoid the 1 day old accounts getting all keys).
- Different username colours and visual effects, possibly other avatar options too. (think like something awful forums)
- Subscriber only live chat. (so we could hang around there)
On top of my head, those would be the perks I would gladly pay to.
But 2,90 just for adblock? No.
I think these are very good and reasonable suggestions.
But most of it they can't do since they have no control over the forum-software and what they could do, they already said they won't be doing (subscriber contests, priorized key distribution etc.)
IMO one of the reasons why this website is in this sorry state is that whatever someone is suggesting, they refuse it and some weeks later have another form of advertising as their own solution. Just look at how many people have spoken out against the design of that new website and made a plethora of suggestions for the better. Afaik NOTHING from that went into it because there were always "reasons..."

Good suggestions - maybe instead of just subscribers only giveaways, they can have also giveaways (free sponsored game keys) for everyone but block on 1st day of listing for subscribers only - otherwise they might not get view hits from the crowd who flock to game sites in search of free keys.

If you add a sub prepare yourself for all the "why are you running articles about this it isn't an mmorpg and now I am paying for content so I am justified for wondering"
I just use ublock origin, no ads anywhere. Not even in youtube videos, or on twitch. If you'd just use simple non-animated banner ads I am sure people would unblock this site. I started using adblockers once the annoying animated gif banners came out, been using it since, and its only gotten worse. I also use a cookie blocker, that blocks any cookie except what I specifically allow, then disconnect which gets rid of all the facebook/twitter/google crap that riddles pages with social media garbage I couldn't care less about.

I like subscription options, but there is no website in existence worth $2.99/mo. It would have to be half that (at the very most) for me to consider it.
We may add one. But we want to hear your thoughts first.
I don't see it being anything but a positive way to generate revenue. While your at it ad a tiered cost say 3 5 10 bucks with early pick on beta keys and special offers etc, plus ad a donate button.
Worst idea ever. This would turn people away, including myself.
So when it comes to actually supporting the site and making it so they don't have to rely on junk like scarlet blade and league of angels your out. heh
I agree with Nanfoodle, but for me, you're talking about more than just a subscription. You're talking perks now. Pay more for a better chance at beta keys, offers, etc. So you want this site to echo MMOs now? How about adding a cash shop, too? Buy t-shirts, can coolers, wall decorations/posters, coffee cups, what have you?
Wait. Those are real things. More like forum titles, better sig space, sparkly avatar borders and the like. Gotta be digital data only, not real life things.
Yes, I am happy to financially support things I like, and I actively avoid adverts because I hate some corporate shit treating me like I am some fucking robotic moron.
So if I can choose to pay rather than sit through these arsehole adverts, then I'll pay and ensure my money goes directly to the content creator.
I would only consider it if the site starts labeling mmos properly. I know sometimes there will be mistakes. But the error rate is through the roof. Half the writers don't know what an mmo is! If the site even tries to go back to its roots of knowing what an mmo is, I'd be interested in subbing. I do enjoy the non mmo coverage though.
I wouldn't be interested in subbing but I'm not bothered if you offered that option for others.
Unfortunately it's rare now for me to read the articles on the main site; I'm just not that interested in the games the articles are promoting. I don't blame the site; it's (IMO) the sad state the western MMO scene is experiencing at the moment.
When I'm here, I just spend my time lurking in the forums, which unfortunately is getting less and less as time progresses due to the same tired topics of conversation being repeated ad nauseam.
I personally don't mind the ads on this site. They are not intrusive like other sites. I'm also a frequent user of these forums so I'm happy knowing that somehow I'm helping pay the mmorpg.com staff from just doing what I enjoy. That being said, I probably wouldn't get the ad-free sub. But I would be more than fine to have that option for people who would want it. Seems like a win win for everyone.

We have some yes votes with stipulations that will end up costing the site even more money
and we also have some no votes that are just plain stupid and have nothing to do with the point.
LOL good luck
