its same shit all over again.
    It really is though LOL
It is...and yet some people defend it and say that it is totally not.

I guess Blizzard did not build all this garrison code for WoD to let it go to waste after 12 month. It got a new name, re-wrapping, multiplayer added (to take out the isolated feeling that players complained about) and otherwise deep cuts in content.

Again Blizzard failed to improve on a system and to move it forward, but took the lazy route again and sells a sidegrade for a new feature.

I wonder when people figure out that artefact weapons is basicly glyphs 2.0

"and we’ll revisit it again a couple of months down the line to assign the final score"

EXCUSE ME??? IT IS RELEASED AND THEY ARE CHARGING MONEY FOR IT. REVIEW AND SCORE IT NOW AS YOU CLAIM IS YOUR POLICY. OTHERWISE YOU LOOK TWO FACED.
We honestly can't just longevity in a few days time. It's similar to how we take 3-6 weeks to review other MMOs. But instead of doing a multi week Review in Progress - Suzie's doing an initial "play it or wait" review of the expansion, and then a few weeks down the line will assign a score. Same process, less articles.
    @BillMurphy

I will accept that explanation if you can explain how that is consistent with what Suzie has done here http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/935/view/reviews/load/453/page/2

Consider me slightly shrouded in confusion  ;)
You were more than somewhat unreasonable in your original statement, why you are confused, i have no idea, the expac is only just out, it makes changes to the game, it takes time to assess those changes, and as it is really not possible to put in 100 hrs in a 24hr period, maybe give people time to actually find out more about the game as it is today, otherwise any review is likely to be based on the games state before Legion, rather than after it, don't you think? :o

Nope. I have no one to play with and they destroyed my classes, so I don't see much reason to return.

Played about 5 hours yesterday, not really impressed. The leveling is even more linear than before, more cutscenes which makes you feel that this is not YOUR story but you are just som mindless pawn along for the ride. And the voice acting on a lot of the NPC's are just horrendous, and it's more of it than ever before. Artifacts are sort of good, even if it just another grind. But you can basically just get 4 different looks for it, With 4 colour variations. And the class order hall seems to be a light version of the Garrison. So if you hope this expansion will be a step toward the good old days you better keep dreaming of those Legacy servers. But it is still a very solid game, as it always has been. The combat system is still good as well, at least for some classes. And most of my friends are back so I will keep on playing in hopes that the endgame will be better.

    Nope.
It looks like Class design got better, but everything else is still the same mash up of casual features I am not interested in.
I will come back if/when they will offer Vanilla Servers.
I was reading someone got to lvl 110 in little more than 5 hours, even though that's not the norm, it won't take long for the average WoW player to consume all the content and quit the game in a couple of months, maybe they will finally think about Vanilla Servers, or maybe not.

They are considering vanilla servers, didn't they acquire the employees from Nostalrius? They were talking about legacy servers before as well. I think they are going to do something like that mid way through this expansion launch if I can guess, mainly because once the content dries they either add new content or release those to buy some time.

Yeah but it's kind of strange. When I finished phased quests, I would end up with 15 of the opposing faction in that area ganking, or if there was a rare spawn, usually lots of ganking around that area too. The phases aren't nearly as bad as they were in WoD.

If you're bored of the same shit, I'm surprised you enjoy FFXIV. I agree that Legion is mostly the same shit, but almost every themepark MMO ends up being the same shit once you've played enough of them. If it weren't for friends, I probably wouldn't enjoy WoW, or any other MMORPG for that matter.

The games themselves aren't that fun to play anymore. When I can sit down to a brand new MMO or expansion and know exactly how everything works before the opening cutscene ends, there's a problem. A problem with me, in that I've played way too many MMORPGs, and a problem with MMORPGs in that they've all become so predictable and so unchanging.

I recently sat down to play Dark Souls III for the first time. I was lost, frustrated, confused, and in awe of how difficult some of the bosses were and how awesome some of the players who ganked me looked. It was the best gaming experience I've had in a long time, and it made me realize what MMOs are missing for me. They're missing any sense of adventure whatsoever.

Looks like I ranted. Sorry about that.
He played it for 2 weeks and there is enough in it to feel fresh for that and maybe some more.

But I agree, MMOs tend to feel like I already played them before, and played them a lot... But a Wow expansion should feel like Wow. A new MMO should feel like no game you played before even if it also should have enough MMORPG features to be classed like one. Yeah, that isn't easy but neither is it so hard as some think it is.

As for people talking about how hard it is (really, raiding? come on), the expansions are always harder just after they come out. But saying that you died 3-4 times is not really "hard", if it feels so it is just because you have gotten used to having it easy. That is "average" at best.

The difficulty will go down in 3 months or so. Maybe earlier. And yeah, the discussion have been up with every expansion since Cata.

Another common Wow trend the last few expansions is that most people who plays it loves it while the ones who havn't hate it. But a lot of the ones loving it will tire pretty soon (6 weeks or so). Of course Legion might be different from the last 2 expansions there but I have some doubts about it. Once people have played the open world zones things will be like it was before the expansion save that you need new raid gear.

But then I am not sure how you could make an Wow expansion any other way, it is way too late to keep the same level and add something like AA or mastery points 12 years after release. I have a feeling that what will break or make this expansion will be the patches. The last expansion added a few huge patches soon and then stopped the updates way too early, if they pace the new content better people will probably enjoy it a lot more.

Or that is my guess at least. But who cares? Just play and enjoy as long as you can, anything else is moot and worrying that you will tire in a few months leads to nothing.

Deciding whether to go shaman or druid for healer..... I'll never learnt in the end I like the group content and I like healing.

I' truly very happy, played last two days all together I guess at least 30 hours. :-) Incredibly fun to play as always, new areas are masterpiece of graphics wow style.

I have been very disappointed by changes, removal of glyphs (yes, yes, ... there are kind'a glyphs for artrifacts ... but that come at level 100! Do not like also everall dumbing down on gameplay, among last "victims" rune system of DK, ...

DH is great class to be played, love changes to druid, from warlocks only demonology, ..... for the rest no so much.

Overall great expansion, hope I will be able to say also fater a month. WOD also looked great at start.

    Still no housing though.

My best so far remain WOTLK (after they ruined 5man for me that I never got grip back again, finished PVE I'm usually done), close second MOP, then the rest. Actually none of expansions were truly bad.

Negative. 12 years later and I still don't "get" WoW.

It is nice to see a game still thoroughly rocking the subscription model, though. And somewhat traditional fantasy, relatively speaking. I miss both of those dearly.

No, I will not play it. Last good expansion was WOTLK, after that, it was garbage. I will wait to official legacy servers ;)

WoW is not WoW any more, in my opinion.   It's New WoW.  And I like the old one better.  I liked it when it was challenging enough to be interesting.  I liked it when not everyone was a Hero.  The fact that every player gets an artifact weapon shows how much the game has devolved into a Everyone's-A-Winner scenario.  It wasn't like that in the beginning.  Back then, only the most devoted players could acquire the rarest items the game had to offer, which is what gave those items value.  Now?  Well ... 'nuff said.  I'm glad you're enjoying the game and I sincerely wish I could as well, but it's nothing like the game it once was and I felt compelled to point that out after reading your post.
Here is the thing friend... I agree that certain aspects of the game are more masses friendly, i.e. (Legendary weapons, raid finder, etc) but the game is not "easier" if you play it at a high level.  I raided in a world top 200 guild in TBC and Wrath, cleared Sunwell pre 3.0, Hand of A'dal and all that and I will honestly say that some bosses in mythic raids are on par with Sunwell (maybe not Mu'ru pre nerf but as a whole).  You still only see a small percentage of the population riding the end bosses mythic mounts, mythic raid geared, etc.

The game is just  more open now with multiple difficulties and such.

I seem to recall the WoD expansion launching to a high level of fanfare. It was well received and got great initial reviews. At least until the reality of Garrisons, then the population dropped faster than a cheap pair of socks.

TBH, Legion kind of is and will be the same formula, just with 2-3 twists. People will enjoy the twists like open world quests and such but in the end it will just be level more characters as efficiently as you can so you can get them ready to raid. Raid for a few weeks/months till you're bored and unsub for a few months.
It really isn't all about raids this go around.  They deepened professions, completely revamped PvP systems, added mythic dungeons with unlimited difficulty that need to be unlocked by doing the previous difficulty, class halls which unlike garrisons actually give you quests to go out and do things in the world, added a proper wardrobe feature, etc

Raids aren't even being released for 3 weeks so there is plenty of time to take your time while leveling.

I understand what you're saying, but the parts of the game I play aren't anywhere close to being challenging.  As far as the gear, epic gear used to be truly epic in that not many people managed to acquire a full set of it.  Most people who go for Rare gear by doing the 5-man dungeons.  Now EVERYONE can easily get epic gear.  So, it's not really "epic" anymore is it?

I never Raided in WoW so I can't speak to Raid difficulty but I can tell you for sure the rest of the game is far, far, FAR easier than it was early on.
Epic was replaced by item level. There are various item levels of epic gear. Epic is just a name now that doesn't really mean anything expect "purple", but there is wide birth of how good gear is within epic gear.

Yes, I understand that as well, but it's interesting that people who also played back in the day don't understand the point I'm making.  But whatever, y'all have fun with current WoW.
You're right that I don't understand what point you're making. I mean... does the color/title matter or does the quality matter?

I mean, did you even own a piece of epic gear in vanilla? It sounds harsh, but I really don't know what point you are making. Maybe that noobs get purple colored gear on their character page and that bothers you?

So as a long time fairly hardcore WoW player I will tell you that sometimes the community can be harsh.  My daughter is 7 and she just started playing recently.  She only plays with me and I have all the parental controls turned on as a lot of people in the game can be rude and cruel.

I usually toss a disclaimer out there when we enter a dungeon like "hey, my daughter is new to the game so please be patient, if not just please kick us now.", most of the time people will be cool, of course you get your impatient kids and basement dwellers but I tank for her so even if people are a$$hats and remove us we get fairly fast queues...  I imagine it is the same for healers.

Not sure what server you are on or what faction you play but I run a guild Alliance side on Sargeras.  We have about 40 active members mostly adults.  We are a raid focused guild but we have quite a few casual members that we run dungeons and do PvP type stuff with.  If you are looking for a home check out http://nomaamguild.enjin.com.  Yes, the guild is named after Al's mans club in Married with Children.. lol.
