Thats what, a total of 5 castles now? What a joke.

Even Age of Wushu had 2 spots in every area that players could build a city. Even smaller guilds had an opportunity to work and build up a city in less desirable areas. It gave everyone something to work towards. It was common sense, but common sense that the folks behind ArcheAge obviously lack.

I logged in to see how things were, and while not exploding, the population seemed ok.  Not a scientific analysis, but I enjoyed the game and may come back.

2 completely different game ideologies - Archeage is based on high contention due to limited number of spots.

This is by design, of course they could have put in 100 castles in game to where almost every guild could have one, the point was to put in very few to create conflict.

As far as guild territory in housing areas - that's alive and well in Archeage since launch - my guild has no castle but has lots of connected plots all over the place that we share.

Bottom line you are comparing apples and oranges, as very few castles in AA is intentional.

When AoW was busy for the first year or so (or on new servers), every castle was contested. Furthermore, the best spots were always by the two biggest, most frequented cities. These were the places the best guilds always fought for, while smaller guilds fought over the others. You could also hold unlimited cities.

    Apples and apples.

Adding 2 castle in Auroria making crafting gear more cheaper. This September update they going to increase a loot drop of mysterious garden powder and auto roll. They going to have Full gear set giveaway. If you want to get this gear you have to make account now if you did not play yet in Archeage and come back next week to claim the gift.

Idk , Arcahge wasnt even a good MMO. The pve was mindblowing bad, hence 90% quit before reaching lvl 40. I know the game opened at 50, 55 but you get to make people invest time into that mindnumbing lvling experience. Nowdays its filled with brasils and russians. kakakak and nasdrovje!

Bottom line, this feature also is the most contentious and game limiting.  Hence an easy mark to point out when discussing this game.  It just seems that the developers continue to make every effort to alienate many current and past players.  Not a very good recipe for success.

Kind of interesting how Trion has evolved from a benign pay to play company to a perceived greedy pay to win company.

You have to wonder how long they can sustain enough people interested in this game to keep it running.  At this point I certainly would not invest much time in it.
