Skyrim (not ESO) is now an MMORPG!

The mod turns Skyrim from a singleplayer RPG, to an MMO :) This makes it even better than ESO.

    not really MASSIVE. i guess more than one is considered multiplayer. so you're close. not quite an mmo.

    It is an MMORPG though. Leagues of legends is considered an MMO and its much smaller than this MMO mod for skyrim, many other online games are also considered MMOs. This isn't a discussion thread to discuss what an MMO is or not. There is already an active thread for that.

    This is a discussion for the Skyrim MMORPG mod, not what someone considers an MMO or not.

    I did see that, but its only so they don't get controversy AND so it was more likely not to be a "banned" mod for competing with ESO. 

    Again leagues of legends is an MMO and the devs do call it that, but its MUCH smaller than this Skyrim MMO mod. This MMO mod for Skyrim is vastly bigger with vastly more content than LoL. The only reason the mod states it isn't an MMO is so Bethesda lawyers wouldn't come down and shut it down, for fear of competing with ESO.

    Again, this isn't an MMO discussion thread of what is or isn't an MMO, but for the Skyrim MMO mod. There are already discussions of what an MMO is or isn't, and the game industry as defined MMOs by any multiplayer online content (like LoL and similar games)

    I second this. The makers of the mod clearly state its not an mmo mod, what is so hard to comprehend here? Co-op Skyrim could be cool though.

    So, anyone want to setup a server/group to start playing the mod? It be fun to get a bunch of people together and mess around :D Mods work too as far as I know (first MMO to be actually moddable outside the UI :D), so we'd have to decide what mods to use.

    I have to agree with others... STFU you really are dense. They have said it's not an mmo and anyone with any mmo savey would see that. 

    The op is one of the the reasons devs are taking liberties with the mmo genera. Gullible people like the OP can't even see it when the devs themselves state the obvious.

    If it isnt a discussion about if this MOD turns Skyrim a MMO or not, then why did you say it in the first place..

    It's a co-op mod, nothing else. :)

    What is with everyone complaining about it being called an MMO? LoL is called an MMO, this is no different and is actually even more massive.

    I had far better luck posting this on Reddit and The Escapist lol. Everyone here is too focused on what an MMO is or isn't, but its already been defined that an MMO is anything with an online functionality.

    Just a small list of examples.

    But is it LAN only. . meaning being in the same room?  EDIT:  Looks like both but with major issues desynch etc.  In time maybe.

    A list without any actual examples.

    Either way a solo player game with a mod to play with a friend is by far not the same as a MMO.
    The whole coding is so different that you would get major performance problems with multiple people around.

    I think you are overestimating the features of this mod.

    Did OP forget the first M in MMO stands for MASSIVE?
    Massive is TRADITIONALLY defined for MMOs as over 1000 concurrent users on one 'server' at a time.

    LMAO.. you are clueless... LOL is a MOBA. Multiplayer online battle arena, not an MMO. 


    Some games get an MMO label meaning "50,000 players online at once" even if its server based or instanced, that too.

    But this mod you are promoting doesn't work and has probably 1 person playing irf any... that is not an MMO.
