The one and only thing I want from D&L at this point is some legitimate game play footage.

I would like to see a vast server world and a high player count; dynamic weather; a PvP zone control hierarchy (can't unlock higher teirs until you control majority of lower tiers); dynamic mob spawn points and mob migration. And a vast underground dwarven realm. We're closing in on the year end , and Snail Games' rep Horsejoke is bouyant at the likelihood of a 2016 launch. DnL discord is up, and he's usually happy to answer a question or three when he's around. https://discord.gg/u2sRv46
Quotes from Horsejoke on discord tonight (just now in fact) in relation to the unanswered points in the OP
"@Kroy we chatted a little bit about fun vs. grind here [in discord] before, it all comes down to personal preference but I think we'd benefit from a stronger focus on active gameplay over eating and drinking every few minutes; that'll be tweaked a lot during EA probably."
"PvE with PvP options is kind of a strange one, we don't want people turning on PvP and ganking someone then quickly switching it off, there are obvious solutions to that but nothing perfect and I'm not sure how much of a priority it is since we have both server types planned, so I can't really comment on that right now."

That would pretty much be my list. I've punched enough trees, both in game and in real life and it's not that fun...though I do like a good berry while I'm hiking.
But what would factions matter if it was totally PvE? that seems like a waste of a core mechanic. I understand no PvP switch, but other games have done great PvP on PvE servers. PvP common areas, capture-able places etc etc.
Seems to me like that haven't shown much game-play because there are a lot of ideas up in the air.

Seems to me you haven't done your homework on there previous mmo's. Age Of Wushu is one of the best examples of PVP/PVE games for features. Only thing that spoils it is the cash shop features but when it comes to incorporating both play styles they have it down.
Fact is Dark&Light isn't there flagship PVP mmo that will be Age Of Wushu 2.

As for faction, again I guess your mmo scope has been pretty limited. Ever heard of EQ which was a PVE mmo at it's core but factions played a major role within the game.
They should have an early access version and call it Settlers of Garneth. Limit it to like 9999 slots so we can all make signatures like SOG#2333. Now that would be original

Did you read my comment? I said other games have done great adding pvp to pve servers. I am hoping they can do the same.
Survival Shouldn’t Mean Boring : The first thing I did in Ultima Online (UO) was harvest wheat and collect wood. The point of the factions, and alien life is to make the game less boring. People have been asking for turrets in Osiris:New Dawn (O:ND). Let me just say that the GAV is a mobile Turret/Wall system. Will they keep enemies out of a base? I don’t think so. If anyone can just enter and drive off, or just push them around.
Player-Run Shops : See Legion and many Asian F2P.
First and Third Person : No Comment.
Don’t Be Too Grindy : O:ND has berries. This comment is “The Best thing about O:ND is how not everything is functioning.” There is a Kitchen to cook food and berries. There is a shower, to remove waste and surface contaminants. There is a TV, to reduce stress. I recently had a Dehydration event, even though I had a water recycler (water fountain). I have even seen YouTubers after 2 hours of play say that O:ND is too Grindy. This is an RPG, with classes that closely match the Bartle types. So a Killer should be able to kill, and explorer should be able to go gather and explore. And the same with the other types, craft and socialize.
PVE Servers with PVP Optional : A segment of Sandbox players hate this, all they want to do is hunt PvE players. Their kind are still griping about how safe zones (PvE friendly) destroyed PvP in UO and Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC).
I expect this game to both PvE & PvP combat. I expect there to be resource harvesting. I expect there to be player crafting and trade.
Pardon any spelling errors
Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven Boy: Why can't I talk to Him? Mom: We don't talk to Priests. As if it could exist, without being payed for. F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing. Even telemarketers wouldn't think that. It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
If you have not played Snail games err might wanna do so.. most are eye candy with an insane sky high price cash shop.. Age of Wushu is now down to 1 server from having several open.. Cash shop items range from 30 to 400 dollars may be more.. they sell the game coin with rewards starting from spending 150 to xxx amount..
Aside from bad translations from Chinese language to English..
This game is eye candy and if is old expect major exploits from people who played it on their CN servers..

I'm old enough to remember how much of a crash and burn D&L was when it originally came out. It was the first real bait and switch I was ever exposed to.
The problem with "PvE server" survival games is they are usually boring as shit.
Can you imagine H1Z1 or DayZ PvE only server..... /snore
They would have to add a TON of PvE content to keep it interesting, since Dark and Light has no quests and no deep PvE systems I fear PvE is an afterthought.
Actually I can imagine a PVE survival game, assuming the Dev's come through on their promise to make the "in game" monsters dangerous and challenging.
I always wanted to play a Zombie survival game where the zombies were the greatest danger, not the other players.
If The Walking Dead is any reference, the dead (pve) turns into a grind which even children can do and even they get bored with it. What has kept the show interesting is other people (pvp). I can't imagine any MMO can stay entertaining when you need to kill dumb dead over and over again.

Well lucky for you there will be separate servers so you can PVP till your hearts content. You won't have to worry about PVE's killing dumb dead over and over again on the PVE server.

Grea ain't it.
I didn't mean PvE is dumb. Besides EVE which I have quit, I am a pure PvE player when it comes down to MMOs. I just don't find the slow walking dead in a survival setting appealing in the long term. And the comment wasn't related to Dark and Light, it was just about zombie survival games.

Not all zombies are slow walkers, see Resident Evil, World War Z, or 28 Days for how else it can be done.

^^ This. Doesn't matter how good the game is- if the monetization is p2w, the game is unplayable for me (and many others).

Those types of people should be transferred to PVE servers without consent, IMO.
