You guys need an editor. You repeat this entire paragraph:
"Once you finish the tutorial, or just skip it and learn on the fly, you can queue up for the war. There are three PvP match types but only two are readily available. The third is for guild versus guild combat that is only available during certain times. The battles are supposed to take place on hotspots across the world map, which you are shown, but regardless whether you win or lose you don’t really get a sense of accomplishment for whether or not you progressed the front on the map. There are six spots, one for each combination of the 4 factions to war with each other, but it’s all just for show. The layout of the factions doesn't make a lot of sense either. If they were going to make a superfluous map they could have at least figured out a way to lay the factions out that seemed plausible."

You know the review system across almost all publications is broken in favor of upwardly skewed scores when a 4.8 (slightly below middle) is considered terrible while a 7 is the average. We should really bring back the 5 is average standard. Give a game like this a 2 or 3, and let only standout titles claim 7-10 scores.
Sorry but just no. Dark Millenium got trashed and what do we get? In 40k this game(abomination) would have been deemed hertical and burned alive. And rightly so.

The game is a DISGRACE and the Developers are an even bigger DISGRACE
Considering the original vision for the game vs what it turned into. The game dropped off my radar when they started changing it. Even stopped participating on their forums.

This game had the most awkward newsletters during development. If I just open my inbox and pick two random newsletter quotes right now from Nathan Richardsson, Senior Producer:
"So besides the extra Steam goodies we have planned to add to all the Founders packages, you becoming a Founder, friends with Khorne and me loving you a long time, we have a lot in store for the character systems in the end of January." - Dec 18, 2015
"We’re going to talk about how the only constant is change. There is this good friend of mine who’s really into it and we sometimes agree and we sometimes don’t. I guess that’s where “choosing the lesser of two evils” comes from.
It’s either me or him " - April 20, 2015
I mean, wtf? This confused and aimless banter kind of represents the entire game project and the direction it went.

I vote for @Grakulen as the official reviewer of all games going forward. Nice to see a review instead of a commercial.
I wholeheartedly agree. Seeing every game get an average score here of 6.8 has annoyed me for years. Heck these folks gave Mortal Online a 6.2 and that game can not convince 3000 people across the entire planet to subscribe to it.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD
Is this not a game that years ago when the development started was planned to be most revolutionary MMO of all times. With real time combat over sandbox world .. etc etc ....
Could not agree more Robert, as I have played almost 200 hours of this POS game.
The game is a DISGRACE and the Developers are an even bigger DISGRACE
OK, I have to ask, why play something that is a disgrace for 200 hours? Seems like 10 or 20 would be sufficient.
I was thinking the exact same thing, and LOLed when I read you say it first. As for the game, 4.8 is the worst score ive ever seen mmorpg.com give. That sums it up right there.
First is the fact that this really shows me why it is hard for me to purchase founder things. Doesn't mean I never will but this game for sure is an example of how most seem to turn out for me.
Second is about the scoring. It feels like the right score. Going through school has a 70 as average. I went with it and never understood it. It seems appropriate for games to use the same type of scoring.
This doesn't really surprise me at all. I've been playing GW games since forever, and I have seen, over the many years, a company which has created one of the most interesting sci-fi universes completely mismanage their brand so badly it's painful to watch. GW is tyrannical when it comes to control over it's product, image and games. The examples of mind-blowing policies which they have enacted would fill this whole page such as banning all retailers from selling their products online.
If you want to read a fascinating story regarding GW, then try this page out. If you don't want to read the ancient history of the company, then skip to the "Learning The Wrong Lessons" header. It's one of the best write ups of the company I've ever read anywhere and spot on regarding just about every management decision they make.
For instance, they so completely nuked their Warhammer Fantasy range, that A single boxed set called 30k Betrayal at Calthoutsold their entire Fantasy range last year.
Honestly, the good Games Workshop video games are good in spite of them not because of them. Total Warhammer is a rare gem and I would bet money that Creative Assembly stomped GW's dick every time they tried to fuck the game. Too bad Behavior Interactive didn't have that kind of veto power, or the MMO might have survived.
You know I love wh40k. But as I got older and watched them murder good spin offs, mordheim, epic, necroumnda, and others. I'm not surprised. Shocked that half the games and mobile games coming out are even making them money. Then you see companies like privateer press and wonder what happened to GW.
When they changed all of their founder packets I said no. Since I also learned the hard way from phrinna games what a founds/backers badge means. Which is crock.
Still gl on it

Funny to see. A lot of people here played No Mans Sky for dozens and dozens of hours and felt fully entitled for a charge back because the game was 'utter crap' and/or 'a complete lie.'
On topic, seems like I dodged a bullet again here. When they changed the scope of the project I knew trouble was coming. What a waste, very disappointing, especially with most reviews agreeing that it could have been quite awesome...

"Gameplay: 5 The core shooter mechanic doesn’t feel good. The world map is for show. Game has balance issues." - The shooting part of a shooter is garbage but it gets a 5? If there is no overarching storyline, no campaign, it's a game who only operates in PvP and the system is garbage, it doesn't deserve a 5. It deserves a 2 at best for the effort of the bullet at least going away from the barrel since, as described, it won't even go where your reticle is pointed at.
"Visuals and Sound: 5 The characters don’t live up to the minis they are supposed to represent and the environments are uninspired." - So "cardboard cutout" and backdrops of a "1950s studio" are average for you in 2016? You really have low standards.
"Polish: 5 No if, ands, or buts about it. This just isn’t a finished game." - Unfinished game with horrible mechanics, placeholders in key place, terrible visuals and sounds get a 5 out of 10 for polish? I can but imagine the horrors that would net you giving a 0.
"Longevity: 5 There are 4 different factions to choose from and a number of different loadouts to choose from but the matches take long enough to pop that you probably won’t play most of them." - So having options that really aren't (What is the point of having several factions if they don't get played and there is no mixed matchmaking?) gives a game longevity? Specially in a PvP-centric game?
"Value: 4 $49.99 for this is about 5 times what is should cost." - 5 times what you believe is worth still means it is averaged priced in your book. So I guess for a lower score it would need to cost $499.99?
And you say you hit it hard on the score... Look, if it was just a dissonance between the article itself and the score, at least you could give it the TL:DR "discount" most reviews get that seem to just want to bypass marketting complaining about bad press. But you write right there by the score a statement that contradicts the score given.
I've seen a lot of people get burned with backing EA titles but this one takes the cake in terms of recent memory. I truly feel bad for the people who backed this game back when the original intention was to make it something more than a half-assed arena shooter. This game is a steaming pile of garbage and there's really no other way to put it. Sad, love the 40k universe. Hell, I thought Warhammer Online was a heck of a game that just wasn't fully baked for RvR, was sad to see it get abandoned. Had hopes this would bring some of that back in the 40k setting, but alas, steaming pile of garbage. Thankfully TW: Warhammer was great, and hopefully DoW3 will be a worthy title to the 40k universe as well.
This was yet another fantastic example of a game using a popular IP to sell a bunch of over priced founders packs. They had some great ideas, but as usual, that's all they were. When the money ran out and the hype train went off the tracks, they just dumped out whatever they had and called it finished. When people asked where all the features were the main response I saw amounted to " we will get to that later" Well you want my money now right? So why should I have to wait for some future time post release to get what I paid for? This concept of give me money now for a game that we hope to have down the road is how we ended up with a bunch of crowdfunded garbage games that are all failures.
Can we please stop shitting all over popular IP's and just focus on making games? If your game is good, people will play it. Naming your game after some popular IP and turning out trash is an insult to the people that originally created it. Warhammer Online was bad enough, but now we have this turd to add to the pile. What a shame.
