I have the 12k from subbin ,might as well do something with themm.. no plans on buying Crowns ... So whats your point ..ohh n/vm ..you dont have one

You said "if I get lucky"

I said - you can keep buying more crates until you get what you are looking for, so you simply keep spending until desired loot.

So just keep getting crates, easy

Can people who get those specials sell them to people who want to buy them?  Would that be cheaper on average?

    Nope.

I guess it would suck if someone really wanted a special mount.  Glad I am not motivated for that. :D

wait what, I'm confused. you can't just buy cosmetic items directly anymore? like the lion mount etc. all cosmetics are now in the rng box?
There are plenty of stuff still outside of the boxes. Why comment in a thread when you clearly arent following the game anymore.

The problem with gachas like these loot boxes is soon the developers will be focusing on creating content for the boxes vs the game. I see it every time that loot boxes are added to a game-the game's content either lessons or becomes less than stellar. I guess this is goodbye to you TESO.

Not hostile or contradictory. If you were following the game and not actually looking for a reason to hop on the hate train you would have realized that ZOS released more items to the crown store day(s) before the crates were available.

In these crates the only things I have noticed that are crate exclusive are the Apex Mounts , some consumables , couple cosmetics and previous limited time mounts have returned.

Nothing required which is the point. If people cant separate their want from their need then that is their problem. Not ZOS.

Which to the normal person means i have 12k and will use them hoping to get lucky and get something worthwhile with those 12K ...

Which removes luck doesnt it and is completely outside of the spirit of what i said .....

Don't people tried and some got from 50 crates almost 30 Battle mage and Imperial Mage costumes and shit load of pots . It's a retarded money grab for Idiots by the way I guess After this retarded patch I will personally quit ESO I can't stand such outrageous greedy move from devs.

At which point have you decided that something completely optional like crown crates, are a necessity to play ESO?
All your comments are always technically correct, but I just cant figure our where you stand on the cash shop thing.

Me, I think I'm pretty clear on it :)

You know what I'm going to say it anyway because you continue to be off base. did all the ESO hate get to you or something to the point that a question like that or a comment like that got to you as well even though it had nothing to do with hating on ESO. like what are you on man.

In what way did I hate on ESO, I was asking a damn question clearly you are being hostile and aggressive interpreting simple questions like that in a negative way. I was just hoping that all the goods didnt get moved to the crate so I can get that lion mount directly in some point in the future.

If you look at my previous posts about ESO I've been praising the game since I tried it during that free weekend. Its like your paranoid about people hating on the game to the point that your obsessive so if anything looks remotely close to hating or it looks trolly to you, you make your mind think its hate even though the intent was far from it.

To me its like, "Can I eat candy in ESO?"
Your Response: "Why are you hating on ESO?"

    wth.......

Don't play ESO, I've thought about getting in to it a few times, but I really dislike even the idea of loot boxes (no, I don't care that they are 'optional'), so I'm curious... approximately how many $$ worth of crates would you have to open to be 'guarenteed' the special mount? (e.g. figures purely made up; if on average a create gives 1.8 gems, the mount costs 100 gems, and each box is (on average) $1.25, then: 100 / 1.8 * $1.25 = approxiamtely $70)

While no exact number can ever be given because you acquire Crown Gems if you get an item you purchased in the past (and thus people who have bought a lot already have an edge), I would guesstimate around $200 should see you either acquire the item you want or give you enough gems to purchase it.

That's really so subjective though. I spent $200 or so on Crown Crates. I feel like I got my money's worth and I enjoyed the experience.

I don't go to strip clubs or casinos, I don't drink or do drugs. Those are all activities that adults engage in that can easily cost more than $200 in just one night.

Is it foolish to do these things? Rather than make a judgement like that I'll just say "they aren't for me".

I play games for the game, not shiny objects that come in the form of boxes or other cash purchases, so there's no skin off my back with these. The game has a crap ton of content, even more if you sub.. That's enough for me.

Actually, I think it's quite the opposite to this. The less popular these are, the more intrusive they will become. Why? Well, if players aren't spending money in a game then the best way to get them to spend money is to offer goods, for sale, which provide greater value. So, no, I don't believe that if this is successful it will get worse. I think that if it was successful, then it might get better or less intrusive. I mean if people were willing to spend money on something like, ohhh, a subscription, then it's entirely possible that there never would have been introduced in the first place. However, subscriptions have become a non-viable monetization method because people aren't willing to open their wallets.

I think it will get worse either way.

Selling these loot boxes isn't making money put more stuff in them to try and sell more or selling lots so add more to make more money.

Personally I would rather not pay for RNG gambling boxes and actually play games to get rewards.

Totally agree! I mean I love that F2P has provided an avenue for variety in MMORPGs available, but I rarely play a game I can't just subscribe to. However, I can also admit that I would not subscribe to more than 1 game at a time. Right now I'm subbed to SWTOR and I'll be back subbing to WoW at Xmas. So I think I'm a direct illustration of what the problem is. On top of that, I'm sure there is a huge cross section of people who will not play something other than free, although they claim they would if only there was something great *cough* Kopo *cough*

That being said, subscription still doesn't guarantee that this problem disappears, since WoW now makes more through their cash shop than most games make every year, lol.

So you're probably right, it doesn't really matter what people do, it will get worse. That being said, I don't really care because I don't buy these things anyway.

Honest question, but have you played ESO? The inclusion of cash based outfits as an example never took away from the huge amount of rewards that are available through playing the game. Hell you get high end purple items in your in-game mail,  just for standing around in Cyrodil more or less. From boss fights to the many chests that occupy just about every corner of the map, game-play based rewards have been at the forefront of the experience. I don't see that changing with these boxes...

I still play Morrowind and Skyrim quite regularly. I play ESO simply because out of the MMOs I own it has the best balance between single-player and multi-player content, great for playing alone, or with my Wife.... Or lots of people in Cyrodil. The setting is just a boon really to me, while it's not the same type of game as it's predecessors, it's got a lot of the charm from those worlds in it. It also now that One Tam released, has almost too much content, I feel no need at all to play any other MMORPG for now.

Okay, so I spent $100 on Crowns and bought 30 Atronach boxes. Keep in mind I have purchased every single cosmetic ever to come up on the Crown Store since day one, so I thought going into this I would earn Crown Gems a bit faster than the non collector... That was not the case at all since most everything is new and solely exclusive to the Atronach Crate.

I got 3 hats, 2 pets, 1 momento, 1 Grand exp scroll (which I converted to 33 Gems) the rest of the 30 boxes I opened was poisons, potions, a couple regular exp scrolls and riding lessons which I converted all to gems as well.

I wound up with 294 Crown Gems for $100. So at that rate I would have to at least spend another $50 to get 1 Atronach mount for 400 Gems (which I wont be doing).

None of Pacrooti's animations worked, so all I got was a box that I would click then I'd have to exit out to see what I got, then re-enter the pacrooti screen to open another box... That task became onerous after 10 crates.

So, after spending $100 on 30 Crates I couldn't even buy 1 of the Atronach mounts, couldn't even enjoy the Pacrooti animations of the box opening and seeing my cards, I have 2 pets and 3 hats.

Now, what I will be doing is no longer supporting this game. I am cancelling my sub effective today, I will never buy another cosmetic from the Crown Store (which is going to be painful because I really enjoyed collecting ) The only financial investment Zenimax will get from me, from here on out, is I will just outright buy DLC (actual game content) when it drops, the end.

P.S. If I came out after $100 with one of the Atronach mounts I might have felt slightly more positive about this underwhelming experience but still, I would have to spend roughly $1000 (probably a bit more) to get every Atronach mount, and maybe id get all the lesser cosmetics by spending a thousand if the Pacrooti RNG was kind.

I spoke out against this system being implemented from day one, I knew it would be really bad and I was right... But, as a loyal customer since launch I figured Id at least give this a try (knowing already from previous MMO's that the gamble would be real). This RNG gambling system makes ESO now as aggressive a cash grab (for people who like collecting anyways) as Black Desert Online.

I look at this feature like that friend you loaned a hundred bucks to and he never paid you back but you never saw him again, and just think to myself, well, it only cost me $100 to get that bad egg out of my life.

I'm not quitting the game by any means, Ill still play, and I'm not even bitter about the $100. I knew what the outcome would be but I set aside that money just to see for myself how predatory this system would be. Now I just wont support this community ruining move by spending a cent on anything but actual game expanding content.

You are representative of the target audience for these boxes, fairly certain there's quite a few of you out there, most who won't comment, much less complain about them.

You will likely make more purchases in the next round of offerings and ZOS will be pleased with the overall results.

The more successful this is (and it seems quite successful, at least in terms of getting subbers to finally spend all those crowns piling up), the worse it's going to get...

If it totally fails and this was part of the ongoing revenue equation then it will mean some other revenue scheme will replace it. It's hard to say whether they will push one way or another or how far.

There is a balance to what they have to provide through QoL updates, dlc content, premium subscription, and cash shop. If any one of those, especially the first two, then people will find something else to play. So it won't be all cash shop. It won't be all locked in DLC. It will be a combination.

I haven't played since I got a great deal on the console version, since I bought it on PC already, lol. However, I will have 4 consoles at home by the end of Xmas, so I'm thinking that it might be a good time to organize the family into a guild and get going on it again.
