Ashes of Creation came out of nowhere recently to be one of the upcoming most wanted MMOs based on its premise and a couple of early trailers alone. In light of their impressive vision, we reached out to Intrepid Studios to speak with their Creative Director and Founder Steven Sharif.

What I like about this game is that PvP is not FFA, it has a meaning, there is an alignment system similar to EvE.
Many developers are making the mistake of producing FFA PvP games with little restrictions, and I don't really think that's what the MMO community wants/needs right now.
Apart for that everything else looks good to me, I am looking forward to see more of this game.

Sold. Where/when do you take my money?
If I can be killed willy nilly then no thanks.
They insist making FFA games no one wants to play and they still don't get it.
EVE PvP system is the only type of PvP (not talking about the instanced) that will ever work in MMOs, just copy and paste it, how difficult can it be?
I hope AoC will do just that, no need to reinvent the wheel.

They should reconsider their decisions as industry experts have spoken!
a) very good game - rarely or never
b) great forum threads - most of the time
One way or another players win.
The most important thing I saw out this interview with SS was.
"The "end-game" notion is really one we are trying to redefine... We don't want there to be an end to our game."
The end game of an MMO is that there should not be an end game. End game means just that you have finished the game, time to move on to another, which is what was happening. The Gear Grind end game needs die a quick death.
Also the statement "we focus a lot on motivating the community to work together." is very encouraging as well.
Best of luck with this concept. You have my support.

As for the rest, well it's mostly ideas so far, seeing how they haven't begun full-production yet. I hope they'll be able to stick to their initial plans and ideas, but they might have to walk back on some of them once they start working on building the game. And there's always the chance that what they deliver might simply end up being much closer to the traditional systems then what we could think of based on what they wrote. I'm reminded of Guild Wars 2 and how they wanted to move away from the questing system, but ultimately the only thing that was changed was the presentation of those quests.
Anyway... it's too soon to tell whether they'll be able to deliver or not, but I remain skeptical. Here's hoping that I'm wrong.
