As a PvE player I have little interest in the spate of new games invovling FFA PvP or gankfest games. Perhaps this will be different. Early days.
I doubt that in regard to open world PVP. No matter the mechanisms, there are always people who will find ways to grief lower players.
'pvp will have meaning....blah de blah..' - They just haven't worked it out that some people don't give a rats ass about pvp 'meaning' - Their aim is to kill lower players and if the game dies because of it, they just move onto the next "this definitely won't be a gank fest game"
Ashes of Creation sounds about right, or maybe Creation in Ashes after a month or two.
I've read a lot of nice words on possible MMO Concepts in the past, this looks like more of the same, lots of ambition, really sketchy on the details, there is going to need to be more concrete info before I'm even going to get interested.
Still waiting on bless to get to the NA, now another game to wait on. Iv really been enjoying the mmorpg called waiting. Kind of lost me on there quest system. Sounds like its going to be another Guild Wars 2. Not a fan of that system. What did grab me was he said it will be Tab targeting. I am so freakin sick of every damn game being -Click,click,click doge click click click dodge wait let me try and use my hot bar by taking my fingers off of the movement keys while in the middle of heated combat. Tera was fun but shit got old. However it didn't stop at Tera.

In all fairness it is not FFA PvP it is a PvP that has an alignment system, which means you can't kill anyone you like, or if you do, there are serious consequences for it.
It sounds really good, has me interested but COE started that way as well.
There is one MAJOR problem and it is the same problem plaguing the entire industry, well two problems lol.
1 Most games are nothing more than a business venture, hopes of striking it rich. This appears to be a case of passionate game design and i like that.
2 The bigger and real problem is crowd sourcing, this is the problem we have with every single game right now.
HOW are you going to entice players to give you money if there is no p2w attached to it?I would say pretty much impossible.
Even if you or i consider it a NON p2w structure,i have another problem and that is i want things in a game world to be EARNED and NOT bought from some magical cash shop in the sky.I don't want people buying plots nor getting mounts or ships, the game world is SUPPOSE to be 100% separated from the business.
That is how the whole idea began, promises of nothing more than cosmetic or other non game related ideas,oh man how that has changed as every single developer has lost all integrity. This also leads me to believe THOSE devs have no passion or game design,it is 100% a business and nothing more.
Time will soon show us if this is a passionate game design or a just a business, the cash shop and crowd sourcing will give us the answers i seek.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I should mention that if they REMOVE the yellow ?'s and !'s ,that alone brings a smile to my face, even if the rest ends up being just a business,i could at least smile at their effort to bring some realism back to a role playing world.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
People familiar with Sorcerer in the MMOs he has played will stay from away from this game. The trust fund kid turned into greedy, manipulative businessman (acting like he made his business, when it was given to him) is branching out. Coincidentally, the king of cash shop with over $30,000 in Lineage 2 and $30,000+ in ArcheAge to have the best gear and still fail would need to make his own MMO. Looking forward to his twisted version of ArcheLineageDesert, and he'll develop his own ZRanger to rein supreme.
This is great news for the future of MMO's, I had all but given up hope for some fresh ideas in the world of MMORPG's.
..and then along comes the refreshing change of AoC - a fantasy-themed, level-based, class-restricted, combat-centric, DikuMUD-style breath of fresh air.

I think a lot of people have a poor impression from pseudo-mmo games like ARK trying to make large player bases work and getting lots of lag and troubles. Maybe these guys will be able to make it work, but i'm skeptical.
Sounded good, until they got to the PvP. **Everyone** for a VERY long time, has always thought they had some new, "clever" method to keep ganking and griefing down. Its always turned into a gankfest, with the Dev's fighting an endless war with the gankers/griefers.
Keeping PvP and PvE separate is the only known way to keep the endlessly creative/inventive gankers/griefers from ruining other peoples play experience.
The sooner people learn this, the less staff time/talent they will waste in this endless war.
Do yourselves a favor and change the name, AoC, is Age of Conan and always will be.
Eh. There are initialism homonyms all over the place. Probably best of all is the almighty SC: StarCraft, Star Citizen, Star Conflict, Star Command, Starfleet Command, Supreme Commander...
Favorites: EQ, EVE | Playing: None. Mostly VR and strategy | Anticipating: CU, Pantheon
Well let's get all hyped up for a game that is probably 3 years from release. Kind of annoying now, not much about released games or games about to release...always about the next big thing...years down the road. And all with big promises that likely won't deliver.

Started up a few days ago. And already have Steven from Intrepid Studios in it!

Nope, back in the early days of the internet AOL was kind of expensive. It was an a graphical MUD/MMO as well.

Never heard that one before </sarcasm>
Release the game and I'll look at it then. I am no longer interested in getting hyped for any game that calls itself an MMO.
