I'm happy it's eventually closing. The "giant toilet" landmark will soon be dumped with all the rest and I've been waiting for this to happen as it's all it deserved.
Yay, founder pack for nothing really.... tried to support EQNext and this was all we got. Nice assets but not enough "Game"
Then stop buying that crap.
I bought Landmark early access when i thought i was helping them to make EQN. Felt good for a while until gradually i started to smell something fishy. The whole experience left me pretty jaded with EA deals.
Stop buying pre orders, early access, closed "beta", etc. Or suck it up.
RPG = role playing game. Has nothing to do with stats. role playing is pretending, playing a role. what amazon described is you playing a role in a massive multiplayer online game. MMORPG
Massive Multiplayer Online Game is MMOG, MMORPG stand for Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Stop mixing your opinion with facts, thats silly.
I got a free key for being a SOE contributor. I built once in Landmark, and never returned to the game... gutter trash it was. The minute EQN was old yeller'ed it was only a matter of time before this extra foreskin of a game went with it.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
Good, it wasn't good anyways. EQ had it's time. Either make an EQ3 or call it quits and leave the franchise to die. Which it looks that way anyways. I wish SOE took consoles more seriously during the day. Maybe they would of had more income.

Well aren't you just a wonderful slice of humanity. Actually the problem with Landmark is that it was more for creators than consumers. There are a lot less creative-minded people willing to put in the time to create content than those willing to consume it. IMO this is where DGC messed up, by not facilitating the creations into cohesive islands with content to get "outsiders" in.
There were of course bugs but the extent at which you can freely create MMO content for others to just walk up and play is not available anywhere else, and probably won't be for a long while. You and others that claim Landmark was horrible represents a pretty narrow-minded point of view and I think has little to do with the game on it's own merits.
On topic: Well what have DBG actually got in their stable now? EQ + EQ2 must be in late life now and barely support their existence, and then there's that joke berry picking sim with zombies in it..
My hope is that when all the assets get sold off, someone worthy grabs Vanguard and runs with it as I would pay £20 a month to play a modern reboot of that game. Either that, or DBG announces EQ3 (doubtful)
Why be happy that Landmark is closing? Why hope for DBG to close?
There are people who - I assume - enjoy playing EQ1 / EQ2 / PS2 / DCUO / H1Z1 + variants. I wouldn't know since I don't play any of them but they don't do any "harm".
I bought alpha access of Landmark, and I got hundreds of hours of fun building stuff, even if I wasn't very good compared to some people who created really mindblowing stuff.
Landmark closing is bad news for the genre, it means that a new attempt at something different failed.
It is a sad day for gamers, well for gamers that get what this means.
I think its over for "Everquest" at daybreak.. maybe somebody new will come take a shot, but I have a feeling also by the end of the year we will see EQ1 and EQ2 both shut down because of financial reasons

Many have said that over the years, heck I have even been one of them more than once. But the thing is we have always been wrong. EQ and EQ2 continue to be profitable, not as profitable as they once were but steady earners for Daybreak.
There have also been recent signs that seem to indicate something stirring on the Everquest front, it is just possible that we are going to see an announcement of a new Everquest game this year. Not a card game and probably not a PC based MMORPG but something.

I have found in my lifetime, that the beauty of hating stupid people is, that it crosses all racial boundaries.
I guess that settles it.
Pretty cool to know that another one is coming though. I still have hope for the genre.
