Shouldn't the profits of previous games be used to fund sequels? Oh well, at least these guys can be counted on to actually develop games.

The first two games were amazing. I proudly kickstarted them the first time around and will do it again.

Definitely something crowdfunding should be proud of. Unfortunately, this series is only 10% of the good things that come from it.

They had somewhat lackluster sales of episode 2. The problem with the first game is that half of the players that reached the last boss never finished the game which meant that many of those players never bought the second game.

The reason for this drop was that the last fight had a huge spike in difficulty compared to the rest of the game.

Fair enough. I've been having these on my bucket list for some time. They look like charming games. I heard about that harsh difficulty and was hesitant myself. As stressed out as I get, I gravitate towards easy stress killers like ARPG's and Warriors games.

The Banner Saga games can definitely be unforgiving, and your choices can and likely will have rather stressful consequences. Personally, I think this is part of the games' charm - your actions feel meaningful. As far as difficulty goes, there is a difficulty slider in the options, so if you are in if for the great story telling, there is no shame in turning the baby down to easy so that you can enjoy it :)
