Marvel Heroes 2016 latest update... New NGE or solid move.

Spoken words https://youtu.be/Js3osu872jE

So the game just got a massive update that overhauled the entire thing. I Personally think it is a nice thing and well needed as the game has some very clunky and archaic systems. But it is way to big to list.. so i post a link. https://marvelheroes.com/news/news-articles/biggest-update-ever

Now the steam forums are in a rage and as usual people act as if this was done against the very will of the gods (veteran players) with the sole intent to cause them pain and suffering. I am seriously staring to wonder if i am the crazy minority..?

So i turn to the collective minds of the greatest place to get a opinion on game... You.

It's good if you want more tactical thinking in the game play as you're forced to constantly consider whether to use up a movement charge or not (it gives invulnerability frames so instead of twitch eye-balling when you need to move around to a safe spot, you're tactically thinking about when to use a limited-resource movement skill to become invincible for a moment), bad if you want more fast-paced twitch in your gameplay.

Honestly I suspect by now most of the player base consisted of the latter, so this update is going to hurt the player base of the game drastically in the short term, and possibly the long term if most Marvel Hero fans are the latter.  But time will tell, I suppose.

Also, it's bad if you primarily played summoner.s  Being forced to use precious now-limited hotkeys on summons or relying on passively spawning summons that die too easily and then take 30 seconds to respawn (a 30 second timer that only starts AFTER the summon dies) sucks.  Team-ups die too easily too.  So sucks all around for those who like playing alongside AI allies, and that's just in terms of the gameplay.  In terms of power, summons did not translate to the new system well as the new Trait system (where you get bonus damage depending on stacking Intelligence or Fighting or Speed or whatever is applicable to your hero) does not apply to summons, and Intelligence in part due to the new trait system does not give summon damage as well.  This causes a slew of both long term (with the infinity system) and short term problems for summoner damage.

Honestly seems like an awfully big use of resources for something that's mostly a side-grade as well as hit-or-miss depending on someone's initial preferences.  They say it'll help in the future with balancing things but then they go and introduce all sorts of new junk or planned new junk (like Omega items) that will make it hard to balance things...

Well it is hard to get good data on if something is especially under performing if the majority of your playerbase never bother to spec things in a way that will actually use it to it´s fullest potential. =) Now that is not a problem any more. No more guesswork based on expected power level.

Also the bloody omega system had to go... I dare anybody to make a case that it was working. So i guess when you have to redo the entire endgame content you might as well go over things from the ground floor.

The majority of the update I could agree with, but what they did with Doctor Strange and his daggers I hate.

    I just didn't like the movement/travel cooldown/casting.
The acronym MMORPG use to mean Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.

But the acronym MMMORPG now currently means Microscopic Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Kappa.

Ok listen no game has ever had an NGE except for swg, they needed to do something because swg was failing...Calling every update you don't like or an update to game you don't like NGE is getting ridiculous.

To be fair... If you have to call something a NGE, this is about as close as you can get without it being a NGE

(for those wondering. For it to be a NGE the game have to pretty much change it´s entire gameplay philosophy. SWG went form a freeform class system to a preform one like WoW and well.. any theme park game. It also went from a player economy to a loot economy.)

This game it would be more fair to say they WoW:d it seeing as what they did is more akin to the changes made in WoW over the years.

The jury is in and it was definitely closer to the NGE than it was to being a success

    So it would seem.

Still something i think needed to be done.
