I see lots of people knocking this game but I enjoyed it for my beta time. I admit that from a powergamer perspective it's probably less than impressive but if your a casual gamer it has some promise.
I think the way they made the car combat was very well done and polished, but the character's and walking portions of the game look like they were developed in my basement.
Still I had fun with this game and will probably play it until something more interesting comes along.

So, although I'm disappointed by it, you could say I liked it. I'd definately say it's worth playing for a little while. but I've played it too much already, and feel ready for something new, before it's even gone live.
I do wonder where it'll be a year from now. What direction the devs may go with it post-release. It's still got potential...
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Well Steve Snow did drop that bomb about "Ground Assault". Supposedly it's an idea they are tossing around for expansion, similar to CoH/CoV, which would add content for your human avatar. As far as liking the game though, I do like it for what it is, but I feel more loyalty toward it than anything, just because I've been in the beta so long.
It's not THE game I'm looking for however. I like MMO PvP, and am still waiting for the game that does it right, i.e none of that FPS with a sword garbage from Oblivion/Darkfall, and a better implementation than WoW. AA is about the worst I've encountered so far unfortunately, while I guess WAR shows the most promise. Anyways, I will play AA for the first free month, but I'm not sure I'll stay beyond it.
Having fun at the moment with my mates but not quite sure if it will last beyond the first month either. Was planning to play this rather casually at first but as I'm not actually a casual gamer and a MMO addict I find myself grinding in the wee hours which itself puts on more strain on my relationship to the game and its flaws.
For me the game will either make or break depending on what the end game at max level will be like. The question is: Will it be intense and immensly cool PvP fights every night or will it be a farmfest for the latest loot just to be able to PvPon equal terms?

I just joined beta last week and now its going live.
I like the game, better than coh for sure. There is some skill required to play, and that is what was lacking in most mmo-s.
And the fact that lots of explosion sounds is relevant to the game is nice. But repetative in some cases, I wish there was an option to lower explosive sound. I think if the user has more options to tinker with what types of sounds they hear, it will be a much better user experience.
Also, there is no sniping that I can see, which is expected in a game like this.
I also like the fact no penalty when death, but I think there should be some penance to pay. Nothing major for the lvl your currently at, but maybe something for the lift home.
The missions are easy to get around with. I don't understand the crafting stuff yet, no idea what that is all about. And except for planetside (where they have lost popularity), I can't think of a better mmo to play. WOW is brainless, Anarchy the same. COH redundant, D&D buggy, EVE is its match. If they put up an economy like eve, it would be a better game, also they need to improve the chat in the game.
For a new mmo just starting with a relatively new concept, I give this game a 9.5 on the meter.
I like the graphics in this better than wwII online, and wwII online is the only other game that is technically better because of it's simulation type realism.
I agree with several posters above. I like the game, I'm enjoying it for what it is. That being said it isn't exactly what I was hoping for, there are definitely some areas that are lacking, PvP being the biggest. While I'm not anti-PvP I've never been one to do it just to do it, I need a reason, there has to be a purpose. In DAoC we went and claimed keeps to make getting the Relics easier, then we went for the relics cause they made us more powerful. In Shadowbane we PvPed to protect our Nation's land, to keep our city from being seiged and baned. Those games gave reasons to be out there PvPing. AA gives me no reason, unless you want to be on top of the ladder standings for the Arena. Personally I think something needs to be done with the Obelisks and Outposts system in GZ. Make them Guild/Clan claimable and provide some form of bonus to the Guild/Clan who holds it. Not only would that give PvP a purpose, it would give people a reason to be in a Guild/Clan. Given how solo friendly the PvE is unless you're joining the game with an established guild that you played with in other games like I am, there isn't much reason to be in a guild...
All that being said, I do like the game for what it is, I just feel it has potential (granted, every game "has potential", this one is just soooooo close to it) to be so much better, just a couple minor tweaks here and there. I'll be playing starting tomorrow morning with the head start and will play for a while, see how the devs handle it.
Desolation Guild Leader
I am. I'll be up early tommorow so no one snags my name. :P Headstart is at 7:45am (central) tommorow.
One of the purposes of PvP, at least whats getting me into it, is the items. Special in game items only awarded as prizes from the Arena. Also real world prizes (Video cards, swag, ect). The specator mode seems cool too. You can watch others fight. Plus online (webpage) ranking system. I don't need to hurt the person Im playing to be happy as long as I get something out of it.
I really enjoy this game. Its geared more for the causal player then alot of others..
I like the fact that if I log on for an hour I can make some progress in my character (something that doesn't happen in WOW past level 20).
The combat is almost always quick.. I fricking hate long drawn out battles, if I wanted that I would be chasing a bat with a blunt sword in EQ. There seems to be some (a little) skill in being about to use your front and rear weapons while keeping your turret on your target, that plus the hot keys keep the combat from being too dull. (some sound fx need work thou).
The crafting is fun, difficult and annoying.. but its not worthless like in most MMORPs so I love it. Not as flexible as I would like and they keep trying to limit it (blah) but I can live with it.
The PvP part of the game is still very experimental and (IMO) broken as it doesn't seem to have a point yet. I think they will fix it in the next few months though.

Reorai Quickshaft (GuildWars)

I'm enjoying it, and I'm already joined a good guild. (though I swore I wouldn't, my promises don't last )

Haven't played, just looking. Nevertheless:
WoW has no consequence PvP. (Can we call it ncPvP?) WoW is certainly successful, but ncPvP certainly kills any interest by the hardcore community, who will keep paying a particular game for years..
Running around and shooting things up would have be satsifactory in my teens.
The 3-realms concept seems acceptable when the realms have a coherent targent (DAOC). But if you design a game with ncPvP, and nothing to be gained from PvP, there seems no point to 3 realms either.
I like the game a lot and my friend just picked it up after watching me play awhile.
I like the game. I have been beta testing it since Oct.'05. I preordered 5 monthes before that. I was a little disappointed that it took so long to come out but I like the game none the less. I think the looks great and the game is not to much of a grind.
Looking forward to see what is in store for the game.
P.s The most fun happens after lvl 10
Also, is this like a Twisted Metal online?
Total time played: 9125 Days, 21 Hours, 29 Minutes, 27 Seconds
Time played this level: 39 Days, 1 Hour, 24 Minutes, 5 Seconds
Not sure how the end game will develop NC Soft usually makes lots of free changes to their games on a regular basis, the advantage now of 3 realms is that there is 3 different sets of missions/maps to work through to keep the game fresh until the first free update.
Loving the game, (played Beta and still bought the program) haven't turned up the graphics but looks good and most importantly very limited downtime.
I suppose you could call this game Twisted Metal Online because you're blowing stuff up with cars, but that would be a little misleading. It's a full-scale MMO with classes, levels, a (complex!) crafting system, and lots-and-lots of loot.
I like it a lot, though, because the combat is just more fun than other MMOs.
