The last game that Trion actually developed that had any real success was Rift, so they really don't employ very many actual developers. Now they just hire people that repeat things like "we are working with XL games to resolve the issue" That doesn't really require a large staff or highly qualified people.

I guess you missed the whole Trove thing... here are the steam spy stats:

Score rank: 45% Userscore: 78% Old userscore: 78%
    Owners: 7,450,857 ± 75,609
    Players in the last 2 weeks: 221,588 ± 13,167 (2.97%)

7 mil players over 2 years on steam alone.

Now add up the PS4 and XB1 console players to the above number- and it's still beta on consoles - yeah.

So how do you define "real success" ?

You aren't really trying to convince yourself that some low budget minecraft clone was really a commercial success are you? Obviously I can't prove anything because Trion does not release this sort of information, being a private company they aren't required to. None of those numbers mean anything to me though.

Since you like steam stats, http://steamcharts.com/app/304050 yeah that looks like a smashing success to me. Now you are going to tell me steam stats don't matter because people play through glyph and not steam. Either way it looks like a fail to me. That's just my opinion.

You're right. Spin is a much better word for it.

Every MMO are a copy from another MMO there are some unique very rare to see, meaning if it's fun a lot won't care if it's a cone or not. Coming back around to success part, their are many people that do hate to see Trion to be success on anything when the hard facts that Trove is their most successful for Trion, if we can't see the number just look at their content updates.

All the CMs from prior Fridays stream were on yesterday Twitch stream. Which one did you have in mind?
There wasn't an Archeage stream yesterday. Not sure who you are trying to BS. :)

DMKano knew about this weeks ago.

We will probably get something like "Nobody was let go, Trion just made room for an influx of new talent. They are actually hiring". Either from DMKano or in an "interview" from Hartsman on this site.

Which one doesn't actually matter, as both spread the same level of spin about this failing company.

    OMG, you nailed it!

They should lay off their sh!tty CEO's and the people that design their cash shops while they're at it.

I logged in just to say how disappointed I am that these two companies are just doing small layoffs and not closing down or filing bankruptcy.  I wish only the best for the actual programmers at both of these companies (the NWO programmers did the best job optimizing any game I have ever seen), but the sooner both these companies close down the better for gaming in general.
