Did you give up on updating mmorpg.com WEBSITE and just decided to start a new website instead?

Just followed a mention in one of Bill's articles and lo and behold all the usual suspects are doing articles over there.

http://www.gamespace.com/

edited to avoid confusion :)

That site domain was registered in 1997 and has a contact address in Hawaii. Doubt it's the same owners.

I hadn't heard of that until now. I registered under my other main online name and will check it out. If they do all sorts of games (rpgs, shooters, mmos, mobas, rts, etc) for all platforms that would neat.

The owners do know how to pick names too. Just like mmorpg was a smart choice 15 years ago, gamerspace is a good one for the millennium.

    The site looks nice too.
Yeah it does look nice. A modern look.

The copyright notice has a 2017 date though. The name might have been around but the content is brand new.

Maybe the staff here had to start moonlighting since this site was doing so poorly in finances.

Or maybe they needed a safe space to review any game they want to review without getting constant flak from mmorpg.com members about reviewing non-MMOs :)

Yeah after looking around some more, it's showing all of the site's members registered recently. And the contact info for the site's facebook page is Bill's email.

As long as they keep the non-MMO's and political crossover articles off MMORPG.com I'm happy. And as long as they keep prioritizing this website.

Neither of those are probably very realistic expectations. Flexibility is important to survival. Effort will go where the people and money go.

The best thing we could do here is try and be a bit friendlier and more open and make this site as socially inviting as possible. Easier said than done.
I see where you are going with this... they are trying to ditch the trolls    That's why they didn't announce that new site on here!

mmorpg.com as a site name is dated- I'd imagine it is an impediment to growth, even with the expanded content over recent years. I wonder how much traffic and advertising revenue this site actually garners?

You generally see the usual suspects in the forums and it has the feel of a closed club.

I would guess that gamespace.com is born of necessity.

Poking around a bit it's an interesting site with a lot of potential for social interactivity. I'm slammed today at work but from the short time I checked on break it looks like members can post, write reviews, follow people and games, join and create groups, which is all pretty cool.

The sight uses wordpress and your gravatar by default. If you don't like that then change your gravatar or upload a new profile pic. There are a couple weird behavior with settings, but it seems very polished and solid.
I dont like the site design. Too much going on. Think ill stick here ;)

I didn't mean update in that sense lol. I only meant that you tried to update the website here twice and had to give up because it didn't work both times... sheesh so touchy :)

Started as a forum lurker from the very beginning of this site.. Joined officially back in 2013.. Posting off and on pretty regularly since.. I'll be damned if I leave it now.. MMORPG.com forever!! *fist raised to sky*

Edit: Upon inspection of copyright year for this site, oh my dear god I lurked for a long time.. Has it really been this long?? I'm.. I'm practically an mmorpg stalker!! I may need to seek help..

there are some posts by a "William Murphy", is he related to bill? *G*

na, j/k... anyway, the main prob on this page: as soon you, or rather they try to post something non-mmo-related, the audience goes like "OH MY GAWD! how you dare posting non mmo stuff!!!!!111111dwarf".

and as publicist for gaming reviews, just reviewing mmos gets kinda boring i guess, and after all.... after a certain time you got em all :expressionless:

soooo... obvious why imo, and if not, read the article linked by Lokero above :) it explains.

Did any of you notify Bill about any career/employment updates throughout the years? It's not unusual for writers to have multiple outlets where they share their work.

Yes, it's us. No, you didn't miss an announcement. We soft launched. Didn't really want too many people seeing the bugs, but most are fine now.

An official announcement will come next week, and Ben is working on having a post feed from GameSpace here, and there having one from MMORPG.com.

This site isn't going anywhere. Not for a long long time. But we are taking your suggestion, and slowly moving non MMO content off here to there.

So yep. It's us. And yes, it's awesome. And no, it's not the new MMORPG. However, we like it so much, that if Ben ever has time to figure out how to migrate us there, we just might use a similar setup for the new MMORPG. :)

So please, bookmark it, use it, comment. Make reviews, send us ideas, email me or DM me here if you want to write (it's all volunteer - as there's zero income there yet).

We'd be glad to have you there.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Not touchy at all and you never know what the future will bring looks-wise. Maybe we're testing our chops, eh? :D

*grumbles* Worked for this site for over 8 years and STILL people don't get my humor :surprised:

True but why wouldn't they tap into an already established community and let them know they have a sister site?

I'm not worried about this site or anything but in the past they did announce other sister sites, such as the one that was based around fps games for example.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE! HERE IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ANNOUNCEMENT!

Bill will be  making an announcement next week. Be on the look out! :D

Correct me if I'm wrong but I kinda remember seeing the links for RTSguru etc.., before they really said anything about it. That said, Bill's response makes sense, soft launch, get the kinks worked out, then advertise away.
