Not being very hip I thought "Irrational" initially referred to a characterization of their mental state.

I never gave Bioshock a fair chance, but i liked the Bioshock 1 demo i played back in 2009 on PS3, and the beginning of BS2 later on steam.

I think i'll buy the collection on PS4 and give it a fair chance.

I'm curious to see what this new studio come up with now.

I took 'em at their word and left it at that.

"We are not yet ready to share any more on our new game, but we invite you to join us and take part in our community."

@rojoArcueid I totally agree. For some reason, the first one never grabbed me, though in fairness, I think it was early in my more hardcore gaming life.

They also said on their site that the game might appeal to BioShock fans, but that it would be really different. I'm interested to hear what it is. :)

The Bioshock trilogy is one of my all time favorites. I love the incredible dystopian reimaging of history. It blends sci-fi, steam punk, and retro tech in a way that created a very immersive atmosphere. The narrative is very well presented, and even though it's mostly inflexible, they did a good job at making it not feel that way.

The problem is that all but Bioshock 2 end on such despairing notes.I hope they take that experience and forge a more positive conclusion to their future games. It's hard finishing a game with characters you've grown fond of and feeling very little to no hope for the future.

Ever since I've read Ken Levine's commentary on Shadow of Mordor I've wanted to see where he will take what he's learned there. How will he try to incorporate a more open narrative the way GTA has forged the free open world. You can find it on Medium. It has some really compelling points and I got some of the frustration a world creator must feel when facing certain walls and limitations in design.
Agreed. The Bioshock trilogy has always been the thinking person's FPS. Bioshock is in my top 3 single player FPS's of all time.
It deftly blends an Ayn Rand type society and philosophy with strategic on the fly emergent gameplay.
I am very curious how this game will blend all they have learned from their own games as well as other developer's games like you mentioned.
I would agree that the first two are thought provoking.  The third one, however, really tried my damned patience with it's whole multiverse crap.  Playing a game where every choice you make splits off into infinite universes really makes every choice infinitely meaningless.  Especially if you are made aware of this fact.

I don't know, that's just how I felt personally.  I didn't like Infinite at all and the entire time I was playing just to get to the end.  In Rapture, however, I was constantly mesmerized by the setting and wanting to discover more.

An immersive sci-fi game with RPG elements, though, sounds fascinating.  But really, all anyone has to do to get my attention is to say "sci-fi" and I'm like "Huh?  What?  Did someone say something?!  LET ME AT IT!"

Same, had to agree with title, it is largely irrational to create a new game company these days. ;)

Did you play the epilogue where you go back to Rapture? I love that, but it would likely drive you crazy because it jumps straight down the multi-universe rabbit hole with no fear.
I didn't get that far actually.  I'd rather have just explored Rapture again with a new character or under a new premise of some sort, such as another company takes over and tries to revive the city.  Infinite just didn't have the feel of BioShock for me.

Let's not forget Freedom Force. One I wish would come back, but the community has kept that game going.

Ken reduced "Irrational Games" to 15 ( ~25 as of this week ) people, then 12 of them reformed as "Ghost Story Games." I say reformed because for all intents and purposes this was just a renaming, and a cutting loose of those Ken didn't want around any more. I think their purpose is still narrative game development, with a Sci-Fi Rpg element.

Here is the thing to remember, the people who tell you "No", usually know what they are talking about.

    Pardon any spelling errors
Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven
Boy: Why can't I talk to Him?
Mom: We don't talk to Priests.
As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.
