One day you all might find something to play but I hope you do not.
One may also think for the amount of time you camp BDO threads you don't actually play it as much as you like to cheerlead for it. But of course you can do both, just like those that have (valid) criticisms can both do that and play thier titles of choice, which could still be BDO.
Let's keep in mind this site isn't just to cheerlead MMOs. As hard as it can be in the feels department for hardcore fans of any specific title, this site is meant more for criticism than praise.
You are one of those I am talking about.
Awwww, well unfortunately I have a couple MMOs I'm enjoying, sorry.
Not much hyped for such, more for PvE content, as dungeons and such to have group stuff to do within it. Supposedly one of their focus for this year I heard.
Huh...so they spent time trying to improve in the one category where improvement isn't even needed. Yea that makes perfect sense. My question is, has the pop in been fixed? out of anything having to do with graphics or anything visual, that should be at the tippy top. Can't imagine everyone is playing on max graphics or higher resolutions anyway so if they wanted improvement for people they could've put a service announcement saying "toggle higher!" for a quicker solution to this :v~

The pop in hasn't been fixed, though you can reduce it a bit in some of the settings, it can be annoying at times though its not a game breaker for me.
This should have literally been the bottom of the list thing to work on.
The graphics are great as they are - what really needs dev attention are gameplay issues such as:
Server performance
52-60 PvE leveling basiclaly being Sausans and Pirates eventhough there is 99.9999% of landmass that could be used to spread grind spots around
The cancerous gear upgrade process, at least have a way of locking down failstacks that alone would help a ton
Making classes other than Warrior, Sorc, Ranger and Zerk and Wiz/Witch viable in PvP
Removing restrictions on player trade
Perhaps looking at some cash shop pricing - $30 for a costume is more than the game iteslf - heck you can buy real clothes for that much money.
PvP needs actual meaning - node wars and castle sieges are a dud - look at the stats:
Total players who died in a siege - 7K NA and 7K in EU, I mean that speaks volumes of actual participation
etc...
But this is just VFX work- and IMO some examples look a lot better without the background blurring - so IMO this was a waste.
You do realize that the people implementing graphical improvements like this wont be the same people that work on the servers, right?
And, well, the rest of your list is just personal nitpicking.
Doh! They are still taking up space on the devleopers bankroll! I am sure that money could be put in a much better place fixing some of these issues. Rather difficult to call major issues, nitpicking.
I was going to say the same thing. It doesn't matter which team is working on what, funding comes from the same place. They clearly have the wrong priorities by investing on remastering graphics instead of investing that money on the performance and server team.
That's not how it works. each project, team has a specific budget which gets budgeted across the year. The don't suddenly take money away from one group and throw it at the next.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
sure work on visuals instead of working on their complete broken karma system
idiots
The karma system only hurts those who intent to spend their every minute online wrecking things for others. So it's working as intended.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
They are investing in their strength. I don't understand why is it confusing to a lot of people. If they have researched and concluded people are playing their game because it's pretty then they should stay ahead of the competition.
You guys put too much value in forum warriors as the feedback corporates should listen to.

All jokes aside in typically egg head developer fashion they found a nice thing they could do, and abused the hell out of it just because (like lens flares, and film grain). The majority of that stuff did not look great or better than the before shot.
Game developers need to figure out something very important before they start developing the visual composition of their titles; Is it from the human eye perspective, or a film lens? Those are very different things.
From camera view, focal length/depth of field are creative story telling options, not some programmable thing that you just leave on all the time.
If they're looking to simulate what the eye sees, who is control of what is in focus? The viewer or the game? Generally third person is camera view, first person is human eye view.
It would be cool if devs used Tobii eye tracking to determine what was in focus in first person games.

"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
Whats weird to me is that they would prioritize more graphics over gameplay, when gameplay is probably why most people stopped playing, or haven't even started playing yet. I doubt anyone is saying "Why would I play BDO? those graphics need an update." or "I left cus graphics suck". I think if they reduced the grind in all aspects, focused on more guild warfare, and other PvP activities to partake in, maybe some world bosses with actual mechanics than just dodging.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
I honestly didn't like most of those filter effects. The blur made me feel like I was going blind. Also, I thought Pearl Abyss was tackling performance first, and contracting a Japanese company to help with that.

That's exactly how I feel whenever I see a promotional blurb that new fluffy mounts for sale or a new crown crate "season" is starting in ESO. I don't even know who these people are who get excited over things like that... but some do.

The real question is why they didnt optimize the garbage engine. I mean seriously, you need a amd ryzen or 7700k, with a 1080 gtx to play this at 60 fps, i doubt even that will do it. I get 14 fps, in the city with a 8350 and a 1070. I get 60 fps in shadows of Mordor at 4k. You can tell it is optimized worth garbage, because I get those 14fps, at 1080, or at 4k. Obviously its because of my CPU, but still. If they made it better optimized, you wouldnt need a 1800 dollar computer to play it.
And yes I know single player games, and MMOs have different things, like each player being different. Still I think it they should optimize before trying to make them better.
All the eye candy doesn't matter when their servers are still horrible and cause regular disconnects for life-skill players and server-side lag not even in heavy populated towns.
I could care less if they improve graphics until they do something about the servers and post it publicly just like they are doing with the rest of the upgrades.
The developers of this game could have made the game better, Housing kinda sucks because of having to constantly replace furniture and cooking items that break like "What the ?" Is going on here...
192 Pearl Shop limit for whales spending lots of money or funds in the game (This needs to be unlimited?)
Weekly Quests, fix it so people are not forced to run scrolls every week at a specified time, or lose their chance every week?
Over-All I liked Arche Age better was one of the best games compared to BDO, but the problem with AA is that Trion and XL games ruined it, and BDO simply doesn't have the mechanics that should be there.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the article. The game has arguably some of the best graphics in any mmo. Not sure why improving them would even be on the priority list.
Graphics are low hanging fruit that can grab allot of attention. Improving game-play is the secret sauce that few developers have the talent on staff to actually pull off. The way a game ships at launch game-play wise is a good indication of the capabilities of the current staff. So don't expect much in the way of improvement in those areas from most games.
They should make some loli only class in whore outfit so more fapsquads could swarm the game and spend money on underwear in cash shop.

Except half the things you listed are not real issues or are a matter of preference.
1) yes they really should improve the other areas for the 52+ grind its all there just not as effecient or convenient as priates sausans.
2) Server performance, to a degree sure its seems fine for the most part every game could have that listed.
3)Upgrade process is fine anyone can make it to tri gear with little effort and well tet pen are the "end game" just a different way of the never ending gear treadmill of games like WoW.
4) Other classes are 100% viable and we see it over and over again in tourneyments etc... l2p PVP has many modalities each with its own set of prefered classes, duels segies etc... i would like them to tune down dmg its all just burst insta kill, but that is me.
5) love the player trade restrictions, all it is ever used for is abuse anyways. you dont need to trade to alt accounts friends, gold sellers etc...
6) eh its customes they are not needed and if they lowered those prices others would come up they need to make money.
7) sure meaning i guess does it ever have any lets be honest.
Fun thing Kano doesn't realize is that you can actually gift pearl items now if you are level 56+. There is no reason to trade on a huge scale unless you are trying to rush the game heavily and if that is the case Kano needs to go back to WoW or something with the end game rush.
Oh cool just what I want, more vaseline smeared all over my screen and more flashlights shone in my face.
Basically, it just looks like something ReShade can do, usable by anyone.
Unless it comes with heavy optimization (dx12/vulkan upgrade would help the game SO much), then this is just more visual garbage most people will turn off immediately. A total waste.
