Another backtrack from Blizz. I'm starting to wonder if they fully formulate and consider a concept before tossing it out there.

Maybe they just listen to feedback from their customers?

Or observe declining sub rates....either way

It would be nice if we could just fly without these lame requirements at all.

Honestly, in Legion with the whistle, how close the flymasters are packed together and how small the area is, I've hardly noticed.

I'll say you notice it doing the Suramar stuff as well as Highmountain and Stormheim to a degree.

Well, given that I have a 900ish iLevel character that's raided at least normal through Nighthold, I pretty much know what's what. I'm finished with Suramar too and I still maintain what I wrote earlier.

Is it account wide unlock at least? Or do alts have to do the whole list too?

Flying in Legion will become quite valuable in the next expansion when players will level toons to the new cap through Legion content. Being able to fly expedites the leveling process by a lot. I did the mistake to not acquire flying in WoD and now i regret it.

As for the new requirements i welcome them. The previous ones where to much of a grind for my taste.

Or wait for the next expansion which increases max level and comes with level boosts which usually includes past flying requirements.

Account wide. You can complete the required components by mixing / matching across your characters.

Once upon a time we also used to fly for fun,,, is that not a thing any more?

It is for a lot of people, for example leveling alts, which is what I was mainly eluding to before Suzie. I'm not sure about you, but I'd like to do that as mindlessly as possible and flight helps that quite a bit.

How about they just ALLOW it for all people who have one 110? Is that so hard?

If you regularly do WQ's on 9 characters each day...the added wasted time on FP's and annoyances on the ground really start to amplify themselves.  Yes, the whistle is nice...flying is an order of magnitude better, however.

Was thinking the same, it is convenience. Not sure why people pretend it isn't, it's not a bad thing. I highly doubt the majority of players say "I'm going to fly around for the sear hell of it"

Imho blizzard should just make it so the content is built around flying then they don't have to deal with all the drama and wasting time creating these silly gating systems. On top of this, flying will have lot more meaning.

With "modern" WOW it's like most things in every expansion are about waiting for the next expansion to fix them...

I am relieved to hear this. Flying is something WoW does better than anyone else. I look forward to it in Legion.

this is only good news in a narrow view

the bad news is that you still have to complete the entire game before you get flying. It is worthless for anything but alts, which are another REDONK re-grind of almost everything again.

They took away flying and subs went down by millions. Now they lock it behind having finished everything and use it just in time to wait for the next xpac where it will be locked again for most of the xpac.

The new bliz team simply does not get it. Not even considering the diablo style loot system that has now been welded onto WoW.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women...

"I'm not sure what I find the more depressing, seeing companies add more and more of this "content", or the players who actually find plodding endlessly in a circle entertaining game play."

Blizzard and many other developers use behavioral psychology to maximize profit, yes, depressing,

You are "old" enough to know that .. handing free stuff in MMO's , without spending some time "grinding" it , you will end up with .. "oh uhm .. ok! I quit" , sooner then later.

Free is bad. Just like F2P's out there.

Blizzard is still one of the few companies that actually provide quality content. You may not like it which is fine, but simply not wanting to work for the achievement is bad form. Previously the barrier to entry was gold. Since gold is now worth almost nothing, they've made other content gates.

In vanilla one of the most gratifying achievements (imo) was getting your epic ground mount. It took forever to save up that 900-1000g. Yet, once you did it, it felt great, and it wasn't even account wide. So, I think we've got it pretty easy these days.
