Honestly, in Legion with the whistle, how close the flymasters are packed together and how small the area is, I've hardly noticed.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'll say you notice it doing the Suramar stuff as well as Highmountain and Stormheim to a degree.

Flying in Legion will become quite valuable in the next expansion when players will level toons to the new cap through Legion content. Being able to fly expedites the leveling process by a lot. I did the mistake to not acquire flying in WoD and now i regret it.
As for the new requirements i welcome them. The previous ones where to much of a grind for my taste.

It is for a lot of people, for example leveling alts, which is what I was mainly eluding to before Suzie. I'm not sure about you, but I'd like to do that as mindlessly as possible and flight helps that quite a bit.
That's why unlocking it it worthwhile since every character on your account benefits.

Was thinking the same, it is convenience. Not sure why people pretend it isn't, it's not a bad thing. I highly doubt the majority of players say "I'm going to fly around for the sear hell of it"
Imho blizzard should just make it so the content is built around flying then they don't have to deal with all the drama and wasting time creating these silly gating systems. On top of this, flying will have lot more meaning.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
the bad news is that you still have to complete the entire game before you get flying. It is worthless for anything but alts, which are another REDONK re-grind of almost everything again.
They took away flying and subs went down by millions. Now they lock it behind having finished everything and use it just in time to wait for the next xpac where it will be locked again for most of the xpac.
The new bliz team simply does not get it. Not even considering the diablo style loot system that has now been welded onto WoW.

Blizzard and many other developers use behavioral psychology to maximize profit, yes, depressing,

You are "old" enough to know that .. handing free stuff in MMO's , without spending some time "grinding" it , you will end up with .. "oh uhm .. ok! I quit" , sooner then later.
Free is bad. Just like F2P's out there.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
In vanilla one of the most gratifying achievements (imo) was getting your epic ground mount. It took forever to save up that 900-1000g. Yet, once you did it, it felt great, and it wasn't even account wide. So, I think we've got it pretty easy these days.
