This is more sci fi it seems . I think in this survival genre I think there are enough games for it to become a category by itself for it to succeed you have set yourself apart from the other survival MMOs out there.
I wanted to try Conan Exiles but have not got around to it but I love the sci fi theme. I wanted Wildstar to succeed so much mainly because I wanted another MMO in the sci fi setting. I hope this game is able to raise the bar and make it interesting for us to play a survival game with the sci fi theme.

I do not think focusing even more heavily on PvP and conflict is the way to go here.
I really like these genre, and I do not mind the PvP but it is the building, of both structures and community that is the draw for me, PvP needs to be there as a last resort if all diplomacy fails.
If Killing and destroying is the MAIN focus of the game it NOT a survival game, it is a PvP game with a really bad version of Jenga on top.
And lets face it, none of these games have yet to make an actual enjoyable combat system.

Just another crappy 'survival' game. I guess making a great survival game about learning to survive in a hostile environment (meaning nature and not crazy pvpers) is a difficult task, so instead they create towerdefense/fps nr 23876873 and call those a survival game too. But that makes any game where you try not to die a survival game.
Did you guys ever play the survival game Quake? It was great ! No sucky building and grind whatsoever:p /endsarcasm

As popular as Minecraft is and based off it's simplistic approach, the idea that survival games are niche is a highly inaccurate statement. There's a reason we see so many new survival games, which are soon to be outpacing MOBA's. A lot of people enjoy them, myself included. In my opinion, ARK:SE is a better online game then most recent MMO's. I think it's getting a little bloated with variations of dinosaurs and the addition of laser weapons is kind of unsettling, but overall, the game itself is a very well designed masterpiece. If they can get the FPS, latency and disconnects under control it will remain a very popular game for a very long time.
Ark is that good ? Saw this guy punching this dodo to death and it did not strike me as such. If you were to pick between Conan Exiles and Ark which would you pick?
I love how people are already bashing this game lol. The one thing I didnt like about other survival games was once you built a sweet base and could hold off against the swarms of "monsters" which are usually zombies it got super boring... they all lacked pvp and something more to stride for. This you get to build with other people AND fight other teams that are doing the same which you get rewarded for beating them..Thats fricken sweet. I'm hyped. The other thing i liked was starting over in a survival game cause i always got better at it. I'm glad this will actually make you start over while retaining some things from your last game. That's going to be awesome. I want to play as soon as possible.

See, the thing is it seems all survival games suffer in this area, and IMO should be the cornerstone of any online game build, not an afterthought to be fixed "later"
If you put up with this then I say you are being too tolerant and clearly you are not alone.

ARK is the most developed of the bunch, as it's been in EA for a long time. Then again that's one of the chief complaints about it. As they're selling expansions while in EA. As for CE I'd give it time before jumping in as it's still in the early stages of development. I'd pick it though in the long run as I prefer it's setting by far.

This actually sounds pretty cool. It doesn't sound like typical survival games. It seems much more like a fantasy MMO in a smaller, survival game format. It has the faction based PvP which is fun, but it's a limited time, scheduled event which past MMORPG's have taught me turns out much better. But you all have a lot of other types of gameplay in there the rest of your week.
Honestly reading about this game, they seem to have a lot of different ideas that make it seem different than regular survival games (which is a genre I typically don't like). I think it could be fun actually so I'd like to try it.
My only concern is that 20-30 per faction seems small. I'd much rather see something like 100 per faction. You still feel like you know most people and have a tight knit community, but it's large enough that it feels like a game and not just a group of friends dicking around. Because honestly 20 people is raid size and anyone can get a group of friends together for some PvP or PvE content in any game and it feels rather small by itself. I'd definitely like to see them scale up the faction sizes. But that's my only major concern.
this has zero on dark on light cept some crappier graphics oh an techno Vikings, fighting dimensional demon aliens, on a tree planet thingy : / ok some one needs to be fired

Will appeal to some, and I hope its lives up to their expectations and they really enjoy it.
